December 29, 201015 yr What Marniftarr created is great, and I think it's the best utility for FSX. The numerous updates were due to simmers asking for more and more features. Marniftarr could have passed on most of them, but he wanted to meet as many expectations as possible. The program consistently works fine for me (but I'm not a Track IR user). Hoping this thread doesn't discourage others from buying it, because it really adds a lot to the immersion of flying. The biggest problem I had with ezydok is cycling through the views in the VC, and end up in thin air and trying to get back to the cockpit, sometimes urgently in critical phases of flight. The world view has me stumped, as well, when cycling views I end up somwhere on earth over the ocean. There is so many key strokes to remember, that pressing the wrong one has undersirable results. Now if there was a database of camera views you could download that would make a big difference for me, especially the MD11, as I have had big problems trying to set that one up. I understand what you are saying, but the setting up the views I find very daunting and troublesome, I have looked on Avsim for views that may have been uploaded by other users, but only found 1.CheersJulian
December 29, 201015 yr As I mentioned, I am still on version 1.15 - it took me a while to get things set up so I don't want to screw anything up with updating.I bought a Logitech G13 Game Pad mainly for assigning views. Here is a pic so you will understand what I am talking about: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2336956,00.aspI use the top row for cockpit views on every aircraft. The top left key is always the left seat vc view and the top right is always the right seat vc view. The five keys in the middle of the top row are various vc panel views (FMC, overhead, TQ...) and they differ from aircraft to aircraft.Second row from the top is for wing views. Again, the left most key is the left wing view and the right most key is the right wing view. The keys in the middle are for exterior views and additional wing views.I use the third row from the top for light togglesThe last row is for default views. The left most key is for "cycle within category" and the right most key is for "cycle view category". The center key at the bottom is for the default spot view. All of the views are mapped to Ctrl+(letter). I unassigned all of the ones I don't use within FSX and FSUIPC which gave me plenty for the EZDok assignments. This system works well for me. The views are essentially the same for every aircraft and they are organized logically on the game pad so I don't have to remember all the key strokes. If you try to do it with the keyboard using actual key strokes, you will be banging you head against the wall. The only time I see strange views is when I cycle default views but if I hit the key a couple times, I get the right view eventually. For the EZDok views, I never have problems switching between views. I don't, however, have Track IR so YMMV. To set up the views in EZDok, I imported views from the default aircraft (that come with EZDok) to my add on aircraft and simply adjusted the viewpoint. Once you do a few, It take about 5 minutes to configure a new aircraft. December 29, 201015 yr To avoid the Camera in Air views you just have to set limits in your aircraft. First thing I do before assigning views is set your cockpit limits. Now my VC views never leave the cockpit or whatever boundaries I set. If you fly with a Saitek Yoke I use the inner middle buttons for the Instrument panel views. Going to recommend again the videos are alot better than trying to decipher the manual.

December 29, 201015 yr I only gave it another shot after watching AviatorPro videos and wondering how in the world was he getting such smooth training vew angles, I own a TrackIr also, but still could not hit all the sweet spots in a stable manner. Even without trying to set new View camers, the Limit function was a godsend for me.
December 29, 201015 yr Sounds like a few people here might need a hit of Floyd. :( ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.

December 29, 201015 yr I must be doing something wrong, because I love my EZ Dok. It is no exaggeration to say it saved FSX for me. I was about to move on to something else (and wait for the next great flight sim) but this add-on changed my experience so much that I fly more now than ever. The ability to easily create new camera views alone is worth the price. Either my expectations were way too low or everyone else's expectations were way too high. For me it is beyond "must-have". December 29, 201015 yr hiI agree with the original post, and the post made me smile. I still have the program anduse it as it helps with the experience. I provided a detailed account of 2 bugs in theprogram on the EZ site which cause major problems, and have found work arounds for them. These bug accounts got no replies or comments and have not yet been fixed in the latestversion.Glad it is not just me doing something wrong though.
December 29, 201015 yr Hi Tom,Any chance of sharing the "Bugs" and the "Workaround" ? Sounds like a few people here might need a hit of Floyd. :(Another Brick Off The Wall ( If you live where I do ) :(
January 4, 201115 yr Hi Tom,Any chance of sharing the "Bugs" and the "Workaround" ?Another Brick Off The Wall ( If you live where I do ) :(Copied from the EZdok forum .... ( I am sure I will get shot for doing this - butI am only trying to help....)I hope this is useful to someone - a solution to EZdok crashing with some downloadplanes. When you run FSX on a download plane (ie this will not effect any default planes)EZdok crashes and no reason is provided. Ie you select the problem plane andset up flight and hit run. When you run FSX with a plane that is OK, then try to change planes to a problemplane you get a pop up error of "cannot write file : <filename>".The problem is that EZdok creates camera views using some strings within theaircraft.cfg file. If there is a ATC_model with a non-blank name it uses thename of the plane given here. If this is blank then it uses the title of the plane. In the download Fokker DR1 - "red baron" - there is no atc_model name, so ituses the title record name which contains double quotes. You cannot have a filename in windows with a " in it. To fix it - remove the " from the title string. In a SAAB 340A/B i downloaded the act_model is saab 340A/B and you cannothave a file name with a / character - remove this / character and EZdok willrun Ok on this plane (ie same problem of a file being created with / character). To find and fix this problem.Use a working plane - one of the default ones - create a flight. Now change to the non-working plane. If you get a popup complaining about "cannot create file called ......" look at thelast bit of the file name. Now look in the aricraft.cfg file for the last bit of the file name and remove any"funny" characters like " or / or \ or % etc.Exit FSX : re-run the config.exe - and start FSX.Next problem - can sometimes really upset a plane setup.......I only offer this to warn of bugs - please don't burn me off for this.Sometimes EZdok does not show the list of existing views, (my King Air for example),and then when you try to add one it gets really confused, as it overwritesunsuccessfully the predefined FSX view. You must make sure you can see the existing list, and do not add new viewsto an empty list. My king air now has outside views of the inside textures, iejust the front cabin. Tried to reset/uninstall/restall/update the aircraft.cfg witha saved version - nothing brings back the old views and gets rid of the new oneswhich are bad.(PS : also if you use the name of an existing view). When you put in a duplicate name (see above - this includes predefined FSX onesyou cannot see), it deletes the wrong one when it shows up the popup to tell you.It usually deletes the previous one in the list, and not the one with the duplicatename.Bit more to solve a complete mess on a plane....I got a bit further with the complete mess of my king air camera positions. I foundthat I could only put in VC cameras for all view types : VC, outside and world. Thismean you only got VC textures (most of the plane missing) . Ie select a newview in the outside views, and it says it is adding a VC view, You cannot clonethis view, or add a new view with the right hand context menu.Anyway - I found that it I exported a camera set from another plane (in this casea Saab 340B as it is similar in size), then import and overwrite the broken set theyall worked. So, if you find that all your camera positions gone very odd, then exportfrom another plane and import - and it resets things.
January 4, 201115 yr Yes, you do that.. in the meantime I will enjoy FSX with EZdok since this is, in my opinion, one of the most significant addon for FSX which makes it 100% more realistic. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
