December 27, 201015 yr The add-on EZdok is the least intuitive piece of software ever created for FSX, by far. I am at the point of saving the installer to an old USB drive, placing it in a bench vise and s l o w l y tighten the vise. I feel it will be enjoyable watching the plastic slowly deform then fracture while knowing the little bits and bites are being crushed! Here is what I want from EZdok.1. Enjoy the in-flight sense of motion provided by EZdok.2. Walk around the interior of an airplane.3. Cycle through the default views. (which I can't get the darn thing to do). That's it!I don't care about creating cameras in the bathrooms, the wheel wells or looking down the Feeltheres ERJ flight attendent's blouse. I just re-installed EZdok and followed the setup procedure in the manual. I have assigned 'next category' to my joystick in both FSX and EZdok. All I wanted for Christmas was to cycle the views from Cockpit (2 or 3d), to outside spot, to flyby, to tower. However, now with EZdok active the next category view (joystick button) cycles from 3d to nearest tower. Press it again and it goes back to 3d, then again to nearest tower. I give up, where did I put that USB drive?Bob.. Bob Prince
December 27, 201015 yr I wonder how you see your post here. Constructive? Informative? Or just as very, very emotional like I do .. just sayin'.The constructive aspect could come out of e. g. moving to the EZCA forums to get some (paid) support. The informative stuff could arise if reporting about some general flaws there (doesn't look like one though) and the emotional thing .. well, it just happened I think.I'm hoping for you to get that thing running. Currently, it looks like the default FSX key commands interfere with your cycle wish. But, as stated, the EZCA forums are the way better place to discuss and report things in my eyes. That little USB stick and watch it rotten story speaks for itself. Someone is very upset and helpless here. I wouldn't say that this state is the best one to post in forums then.Best approach there would be to let it be this time and try again and fresh on the next day or so.
December 27, 201015 yr Don't give up on it and go to their support forums. I will say that I felt the same way when I first got it. Once you get the hang of it, you will be very happy. Also, forget the FSX views. Create your own camera views. Don't think of them as eye candy views, think pilot/copilot views, zoomed views of certain gauges, wingviews... Once you get them set up, they work so much better than the FSX views. The first couple aircraft you set up will be confusing but once you get a few down, you can do them for all your aircraft easily. I'm upset, far from helpless, however, the EZdoc UI is terrible. I post here because the audience is much broader with the hope someone else has seen the same problem. I have been using EZdoc since it was released and every update and re-install contains an undocumented surprise. Thanks, I guess. :)Bob.. :)PS No USB drives were harmed in the writing of this post Bob Prince
December 27, 201015 yr Hi and thank you for the analysis. Bob.. :) :( Well, I thought your post was amusing, as I had similar problems. More importantly, it actually messed up a few other things on my system, which I could never resolve, so in the end I took advantage of the refund option. Hope you get it sorted Bob, as it is an excellent little utility - for most. Ian PS. CAN you see down the flight attendants blouse?

I'll try reinstalling it again someday, but not anytime soon.Mark
December 27, 201015 yr I thought it was amusing as well, although I think EZDok is one of the most important add-ons for FSX. Clunky interface? Yes, I think it is. Easy to use? Not at first, but it does get easier. Intrusive on the default configuration? Yes, hard to argue with that.In the end though it gives you more camera control than anything else available for FSX. As was stated, don't think of them as eye candy cameras, think of them as essential ease of use cameras for when you are actually flying that bird. When I get a new aircraft I take 10 minutes to run the configuration and create a base set of cameras from the pilots view to a couple of exterior views. Then I assign my joystick hat switch to the button assignment and I'm good to go on that aircraft from that point forward.Best of luck getting things figured out, because much like my wife, some things are worth a bit of extra effort. :( - Aaron

When I first got it when it came out I admit that I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to fine tune some of the adjustment to get a realistic looking ground roll without getting bounced out of the VC.In time it got easier, but it certainly took a little longer than I expected if you want to really customize your effects. Recently Marniftarr, I think I spelled it right, mentioned in a post that he is working on version 2 which is supposed to be easier to use and set up via the UI. Although he thinks that it probably wont be a free upgrade or a discounted upgrade at all due to the work he has put in and will most likely sell as a whole new product. While I would like a easier version to manipulte settings in, frankly I am not so sure that I will by a new version to get the updates since I finally have the original updated version working the way I want for the most part. December 28, 201015 yr I have to agree with the OP. Whilst I wasn't going to waste a perfectly good USB stick on EZDok, I did spend many hours messing around with it, and was utlimatly very unsatisfied.I felt it was trying to do more than what people really wanted or needed. It seemed to make things overly complex. I just want a replacement for Active Camera that will work with FSX. I thought EZDok might be it but it just became too hard. What really annoyed me was that in certain views, the joystick hat button (that we all use to look around in spot view) was disabled or limited. I wasn't going to sacrifice being able to look around in spot view for the sake of quickly changing views inside the cockpit.Somebody tell me that has been fixed and I'll give it another go.james Kael Oswald 9950X3D/ 64GB DDR5 6200 @ CL30 / Custom Water Loop / RTX 5090 / 3 x 48" LG C4 OLEDs
December 28, 201015 yr I have used EZDOK with Track IR and agree that it is frustrating. It seemed like too much of a learning curve vice enjoyment of the end-results - and I suspect some incompatibiity with FSX in the dll.xml (order and priority against other dll's). Will give it another shot, but it will take some time to RTM(s), peruse the forums (this might be the real hobby of flight simming!), and trial and error to dial-it-in. I don't doubt that it can be done, but I haven't spent the time to do so. Using the product to it's potential requires a dedicated effort.I just wish MSFT had given FSX a moveable tower view like FS9 - that is all I really want to capture new camera views at airports. I have seen some forum on the Orbx boards to add tower new views, but I liked the simplicity of quickly moving the tower icon around an airfield in FS9 map view. Scott Robinson
December 28, 201015 yr I used the original version which was SIMPLE, but of course limited. When the release version came out I ALMOST bought it, but like all things FS related I decided to wait and see what other users had to say.I fly with a group in multiplayer and once one of them bought it, all the rest followed his lead, except me, I still wasnt convinced. After listening to them complain about the interface, the views, the setup, et all, and seeing the OP here, I am contentidly using the default FSX views, and not trying to pin down a clickspot in the cockpit while bouncing through turbulance with EZ adding it's own aggravation. Thanks for the post, I needed the laugh :-) Jay
December 28, 201015 yr Check out the designer's youtube videos. Find the links on the official forums. I never gave it a chance at first, but current ver 1.7 is really nice. The WorldCam wizard and the ability to cycle views and control whick gets TrackIr support is a godsend. I personally love it now and once it's setup its sweet. I think if the designer included alot more predefined views for more of the popular payware planes it would be A+.
December 28, 201015 yr Seems like we don't share some kind of humor, fellow captains. Apart from stating that some of you had problems too, why don't you write the solution to them (his?) down and actually help the funny guy? I mean, was he just entertaining or looking for some answers? Just wondering. Didn't see any answers to some error assumptions being made, but a lot of (funny?) writing so far. Entertaining? I can see two guys (duckbilled and ohsirus) working on the thing while I won't judge my input here. What is the rest doing then including the threadstarter? Well, preferences are different it seems. So I might have missed the purpose of this special thread. Apologies.
December 28, 201015 yr I don't have any answers. The IU does suck. I have hated it from day 1. That's my point. You have to play with it to understand it. Still, I don't get the effects portion 100% but I have done enough with it to be able to create the views I need. I have played with the basic effects but the controls for tuning them make absolutely no sense to me.That being said, it is not hard to copy a default (EZDok default) camera views to another aircraft and adjust the eyepoint and zoom for that camera. You just have to do a few to get the hang of it. Once you do this, the default (FSX) views become completely irrelevant. Furthermore, I have seen enough posts from people (most at FS.com) trying to adjust vc view points. The threads alone end up being more confusing that EZDok. I have set up wingviews for several aircraft using the method in the SDK and doing them with EZDok is so much easier.EZDok is confusing AND great at the same time. I have not even updated since 1.15 because A. Most of the changes seem to be centered around Track IR which I don't own and 2. I am too afraid that I will screw something up and it will take me hours to get back to where I am now - a place where I don't even understand how I got to in the first place. I and a few others could obviously identify with his frustration with a very frustrating product, and were amused by his tongue in cheek response!People don't have to reply necessarily with a step by step guide to sorting a problem. They may not have one. I certainly don't know how to sort this particular one. But it's sometimes just as appropriate to extend a bit of moral support. And what's wrong with doing it with a bit of humour?Remember, it IS only a game.. :( All the bestIan
