Over at another forum, someone said that the first Flight newsletter was sent out the day the screenshots were posted. I am subscribed, but I have not received one.Has anyone else who is subscribed not received one yet?

That is correct, there wasn't really much to it however. Here is a screenshot for those who didn't get it:flightnewsletter1.gif

I never got any notice of the screen shots either even though I am registered/subscribed.

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

Microsoft news from the development team says "One topic that has been voiced is the concern over online game play. We understand some people are worried that featuring Microsoft Flight on Games for Windows – LIVE will require you to always be connected online to play. Not true. Rest assured that you can play offline if you choose. We hope that you will find the connected experience to be more enjoyable and immersive. But to be clear, the choice will be all yours."For someone who's flight sim computer is not hooked up to the internet (that would be me), this is great news!!Also the new pictures look fantastic! If they can get the whole world looking like this I wouldn't be needing Orbx or GEX.Regards, Mike Mann

For those that haven't received the newsletter yet, they say they are looking into the issue:zvbmfnab-uqmgqmbajj.gifhttp://www.microsoft.com/games/flightWeb Update: January 28, 2011Welcome to our latest Microsoft Flight News update! We are happy to announce some new postings.History:In November we added a new section to the “News” item to provide messages and communications direct from the Microsoft Flight Developers. In December we introduced a new section to the web site to showcase some in-process screen shots from the game.New in January, we’ve added 4 new screen shots to show our continued progress with the environment. We have also added a January News from the Team update to cover a concern we’ve heard though the Tell Microsoft Flight alias: Online vs. Offline gameplay. We have also heard from people that they have been a long time member of the Newsletter list but are not receiving these newsletters. Obviously, if you are reading this, you are not having this issue. But if you know of folks experiencing issues, let them know we are working on the problem. We recommend for starters that you make sure your email address is the same one you signed up with and that the newsletters are not being routed to your Junk Mail folder. Enjoy the new screen shots and thank you for your interest and support for Microsoft Flight!Microsoft respects your privacy. Until you see how a company like Orbx vastly improves the Flight environment. New platform, new possibilities :( But I have to agree; these shots from Flight look very good!

Cheers, Bert

Hm, I can't say I am overwhelmed by the new January screenshots... Actually, the autogentrees, which stick out way too obvious, don't impress me at all. Ok, it's better than FSX default... but it doesn't surpass anything I've got right now...

The lighting effects on the new pics are great. :smile:It's great that they addressed the issue about the net not being being nessary to run Flight. However, the still have not addressed add-ons/freeware/a SDK etc and IMO, are advoiding it.So, I just e-mailed them about the issue outlining my/our concerns about it.Anyone want to give odds about an actual reply? :(

What concerns me about the latest screenshots are that they have an overall cartoonish look, rather than a photographic look...
