MS admits loyal FS fan can jump off a bridge
So, why don't we all just DL the flight "demo" and pack it away until if/when it grows and proves to be a viable forest of "flora" Why should we spend money on fertilizerfor for a plant that has a serious genetic flaw and as far as we know, will only grow on few pacific islands? A wise farmer and never plants seeds/plants unless he knows for shure it will grow to maturity unless he/she has (disposible) money and time to experiment with it.

MS admits loyal FS fan can jump off a bridge
The fatal flaw in that assumption is that the vast majority of casual simmers (and also many hard core simmers) actually only fly in their own corner of the world wherever that may be.Having one's "backyard" represented in a sim has always been part of the attraction with a world wide sim!How many casual simmers have HLN as ther "home" airport?

If you like Aerofly FS, you'll LOVE FLIGHT!
^ ^ ^ That is cretainly subject to change like all the other things MS has said about flight. You might not have to be online to play but, what about "starting" Flight?MS has a history of dancing around the the truth.

If you like Aerofly FS, you'll LOVE FLIGHT!
Of couse it is.... MS simply wants to "nickle and dime" people to death with "apps"..... one island etc at a time. This way, people wiil be hooked before they come to the realization that they have spent hundreds for realativly nothing. Now, some people say you do not have to be online to play...... HTF do they know?. The BETA testers never DLed any App etc that needed to be always verified etc, berfore playing.Does anyone really think that people will not try to and hack the Flight apps and MS will not put software checks into place via the net before running flight to see is everythig is "legal"?I fear people are in for a rude awakening!

My take on MS Flight... and the future of simming
Well said!

If you like Aerofly FS, you'll LOVE FLIGHT!
Bottom line, you can not purchase Flight! You can only by APPS for the game piece meal and it wiil never be a real worldwide sim. A question to ask MS is what apps are planned to be releaesd in the next year and if they plan on making it a mostly world wild sim? ##### was MS thinking whem making a flight "sim" with only a couple of US islands with no clear answer if there will ever be anything else? Only Hawiians want to fly exclusively around Hawaii....just like others would no like to be able to only fly from and around my home airport even though it may be quite scenic. I can't imagining a gamer not getting conpletely bored with it after "flying around for a few minutes. The old Peggy Lee song comes to mind......"Is That All There Is"? Then, MS wants to sell them a couple of more, mosly unihabited islands of more of the same or even worse boredom?

Nothing wrong in having both is there?
That's want I meant ....to see if the whole world would (mostly) be covered, etc. In other words I really have no plans to spend any money on flight.I wiil only DL Flight out of curiosity..
-
Nothing wrong in having both is there?
Exactly. As I said in other threads, I will DL the "demo".However, I wiil not spend a penny on Flight unless sometime in the future Flight goes in a sensible direction.

Tom, please. is it time yet?
I wiil just say that one has to differentiate hate from legitimate (and well deserved) criticism. Hiding ones head in the sand in the name of enthusiasm only serves to enforce and promote shotcommings in whatever the subject might be.Personally, I'm a firm believer in the proposial that "if you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem".Flight is only a computer game and MS is only the company that makes the game.Have we become so accepting of being misled by most everyone that we no longer feel that we have the right to express an opinion?

If FLIGHT becomes a failure how will investing in DLC affect buyers?
Do you honestly think that MS would/could answer such a question?MS most likly doesn't even know themselves how much they are giong to expand Flight..If Flight is basically a failure at launch, you can bet your joy stick that you will never be able to fly out of Hawaii.

Prediction: Next step kill FSX activation servers
After a given softeware is no longer being sold or supported by a vendor, it is then perfectly legal to hack it for whatever purpose like to circumvent its activation as it wiil then be considered abandoned ware.

Disrespectful to ACES?
That is like saying you can either purchase a car one section at a time or you can customze a complete car and there is no difference. Personally, I like to drive a car off the lot with a heater and windshield, etc. You are failing to acknowledge that FSX came out of the box with many types of aircraft, a complete world with all textures! One does not have to add anything to have a complete sim. $20 for a couple of small islands that are mostly unihabited using already included textures? I wonder how much the whole pacific ocean wiil cost using that model. Please don't mention aircraft.... what flight sim does not alrady include aircraft?

Disrespectful to ACES?
Let's no loose sight of the following:In addition to exploring the Big Island of Hawaii for free, you can unlock access to the skies over the remaining Hawaiian Islands by purchasing the Hawaiian Adventure Pack, the first in a series of expansions for Microsoft Flight, which includes: Hundreds of miles to explore Stunning recreations of landmark features, from the breathtaking Waimea Canyon in Kaua’i to the high-rise hotels of Waikiki New challenges 20 new missions The Vans RV-6A, a two-seat, single-engine, low-wing homebuilt airplane made famous for its speed and maneuverability S0, Flight is nothing like FSX in the respect that you never be able to fly beyond the Hawiiain Islands for a while and even then who knows? With every expansion of flight you wiil need your credit card. on file with MS. So, when one can fly to any given place is anyone's guess.. .....who wiil need anything more than a single engine GA aircraft? It Just a flying game and any hype that it a real fligjht sim is nothing short of misleading and borders on blatent lying!Like I said previously, I would have no problem paying a premium price for a world wide sim. Flight will never be a real sim and does anyone even have an idea how much it wiil eventually cost to purchase all the expansion packs to fly world wide even it they even become available? MS obviously wants to have you hooked with your credit card on file, for years and years..It wiil be very revealing to know just how much the first expansion pack wiil cost that wiil only consist of a couple of islands,.

Disrespectful to ACES?
Are you 100% shure of that? :(
-
Disrespectful to ACES?
Yes, but at least you get the entire world out of the box and you do indeed get a real BOX!
-
Disrespectful to ACES?
Exactly! :smile"Now...... let's not loose sight of the subject at hand. Are we to get excited about a pretty flying game that was supposed to be a flight sim?i said a while ago (on this fourm) that the world haas become APP crazy and I feard that Flight would require one to purchaed one APP after another in a never ending money pit.It seems that my fears have come true!it goes wiout sayimng that Flight wiil ber an omline purche only and rquir you to be online when playing the game. It wiil be sort of like "world of war craft" requiring you to purchase this or that to constantly. That's fine for the "Big bang Therory" crowd but, not for flight simners..:(

Disrespectful to ACES?
Yes, PC gaming is making a bit of a come back. However Flight is being released in a few days...... not in a year or two if/when PC gaming makes any sort of real come back. Also, it was just recently announced that smart phones have overtaken desktop/laptop PCs in sales world wide which has signifantly declined.
-
Disrespectful to ACES?
Although i wiil be DLing the demo (that's all it is IMO) purely out of curiosity, I wiil not be purchasing anything for this game..... I'm not that stupid! Consider this....... the FS comunity will propbably shun Flight for the most part and the gamimng comunity...... ##### are they supposed to run it on? They no longer have gaiming computers in favor of their consoles. So it wiil have to be released/ ported to X-Box. Even then, it will probably be a failure as aboluly no one in the gaming comuty is looking forward to Flight as far as I can see. I have searched the gaming sites for any info about Flight and found abssolutly none. ACES migh have fell on their swords but, MS shot themselves in the both feet!

November samples and "News" updated
Yes..... I suspect that is al it is.

November Flight update in live!
Yes! No more cartoon roads!Extremely low resolution roads was on of the limitations of the ..... shall we say.... older "unimproved engine".BTW, I just thought that the new engine would be fantastic for a new train sim.Man/woman does not live by wings alone and sometimes, only rails will do..
-
Are you waiting on Flights release before you buy a new PC?
Exactly.i will just add that who knows what new hardware will be avalible when Flight is finally released?

October FSX and Flight Comparison Screenshots

Oktober News
Yes they are buliding a "fun game" that just happens to be a flight sim.Where it it written that flight can not be fun. Driving a car is serious business. However, it can also be fun and that is what they are tring to promote with Flight. to get new flight simmers to keep the franchise alive......A nuts and bolts sim for the IFR people and a a bit of fun for the strictly VFR casual flier.Even the most hard core, real world aviator likes to look out a window and see and beaitiful clouds, ground scenery and revel in the glory of flight.

All-Hands Internal MS Meeting Turns into a Disaster... (Truth to dissension rumors inside MS?)
The fact that accounts now get an ever increaseing voice in their company's projects is not speculation.II also a given that MS is evolving and is io longer the MS of old..
