January 8, 201115 yr Will the BBJ be released in an update post release? To save any delay+1 Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
January 8, 201115 yr Will the BBJ be released in an update post release? To save any delay I would say yes based on Ryan's statement that it's not even a 100% chance there will be a BBJ. Therefor it seems rather obvious that this will be -eventually- an expansionpack. January 8, 201115 yr I don't really see that happening because it is the same model tbh. It's all stated here by Ryan, it seems rather unlikely their gonna prospone the betaprocess due wishes for an BBJ model. Then again, I might be missunderstanding this whole topic :)Everything should be modeled. Please do not take any of this as some kind of guarantee, but we do plan to do it. January 8, 201115 yr Great news!PS: From what I can understand, the BBJ would be a post release update.
January 9, 201115 yr yes but did he mention it would be free? pretty silent on that but if its like the 737-800 addons for FS9, it will be payware - which is fair enough. they've invested lots of time/money in this project and they should get maximum $$ for their investment (plus they have mortgages too I'm assuming). Either way, I'll be happy. :) J Thomas YBBN
January 10, 201115 yr I couldn't care less if there is a virtual cabin, but I'm just wondering if they might reconsider this and possibly make an on/off option for this now that more people are getting 4+ GHz with i7s and sandy bridge is coming out. I frankly have my own theory about this virtual cabin stuff. I don't put too much credence in this 'lack of performance', rather see it as a conscious decision on the part of PMDG to get out of business of modeling sofas, teak tables, lounge areas with bars and chairs, divans, galleys and lavs, fancy wood paneling and expensive leathers. By the way, I don't question this decision at all. Michael J.
January 10, 201115 yr In all the planes I have with virtual cabins like the F1 Mustang and ESDG's Citation X I've spent a total of probably 30 seconds in the cabins. They're nicely done and all, but all the immersion we seek in a sim is in the cockpit.
January 10, 201115 yr They're nicely done and all, but all the immersion we seek in a sim is in the cockpit.Agree. Virtual cabin are tottaly useless and serve the only purpose of decreasing performance. I rather see developers spend time and effort making a better and more realistic system simulation, that is the soul of the plane, than see a lot of empty seat behind the flight deck door. For people who have fast computers, it doesn't matter if there is or there isn't a virtual cabin; with or without is tottaly indiferent. But for those (including me) who don't have "the" computer, it will make all (maybe not that much) the difference on performance. Matheus Mafra
January 10, 201115 yr Commercial Member I frankly have my own theory about this virtual cabin stuff. By the way, I don't question this decision at all.If you take a look at the cabins done in other products, the textures and detail are pretty low resolution compared to the cockpit. If we were to model a cabin in high detail, which is the only way we'd ever want to do it, the texture and geometry load would be huge. There is a real performance concern, we can't just make a product that contains 2GB of textures. We're already doing something we've basically never done before by including the wings in the VC model... January 10, 201115 yr In a fully funtional 737 simulation would you really have the time to chilax in a cabin. To much work in the office. :). Dylan Leonard
January 10, 201115 yr OMG! STOP GIVING THEM IDEAS.Guys, PMDG can do everything, if they start doing BBJ they will spend 1 year more maybe... come on! :( nah just kidding... its a great plan, BBJ luxury with PMDG graphics and navigation :D :D maybe an expansion after NGX release Hernandez, J Raul KMCO - Orlando Intl Airport
January 10, 201115 yr I've been browsing through threads and gather they haven't released any details on the variants yet..The one I'm curious about is the 737-700ER. Any idea if that will be simulated w/ the NGX? Would be great to have a long range variant of the NG (until the 777 is released anyway!).Many thanks!Matt Thanks! Matt S.
