Comparison of shot 1....done! This one was really hard to do. There are so many terrain details that must he looked at to line up these shots and get them nearly identical to the ones taken in Flight.maulesunset.jpgmaulesunsetfsx.jpgcmpbellsjc, are there any of the Flight shots in particular that you would like to see replicated in FS9?

How about 2,3, and 5, if its not too much trouble?

2 and 3 shouldn't be a problem. But shot 5 won't be as close as the FSX shot due to the limits of the default camera in FS9. Should still give you the idea of the change just fine, though. :)EDIT: Here is screenshot 2 replicated in FS2004: (please note...my FS9 is heavily modified as far as visuals go, but autogen/terrain mesh are default.valleyoverlookfs2004.jpgAnd Screenshot 3:valleywithwaterfs2004.jpgAnd Screenshot 5:mauleoverwaterfs2004.jpg

Screen shot 5 has no autogen buildings in flight and has a lot less trees. Is this their way of enhancing performance?

No, it's their way of making things more realistic/accurate:mauleoverwatergoogleear.jpg

Brandon You are doing a fantastic job. Thanks for making the effort. As much as I love it and use it, looking at the above, FS9 is beginning to look a little creaky and dated. I guess we all get old eventually !! Much appreciated. Tristan.

After starting up FSX for the first time i 2007 I just couldn't return to FS2004, even though my computer isn't a powerhouse. I've used FS2004 after that only to fly the Aeroworx King Air 200, which sadly never was converted to FSX. Overall the King Air by Aeroworx is the best GA aircraft addon ever made for MSFS IMHO. The only thing that is sad is that Flight is one generation late. At this point in time we should be at FS version 12. Looking at the massive improvements from FS2004 to FSX and now to Flight makes me wonder how far it is possible to go in terms of realistic geographic reproduction of planet earth... I just fired up FS98 and flew around Hawaii. It is really amazing how far we've come. I'm almost done making screenshots from Hawaii from every version of FS since FS5, which was the first version I bought in the early 1990s.

I'm sure all the people in Aces who lost their job would agree that they would like to be on FS12 by now as well. But you get what you get when corporate executives make the decisions instead of the product teams. Of course most product teams would rather not worry about little things like making money!Simmerhead, agree with your observation about how far we have come though. Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of the big picture. Some philospher I don't recall once said that people tend to overestimate how much they can accomplish in one year and underestimate how much they can accomplish in 5 years. Maybe I saw it on Oprah Big%20Grin.gif But same thing happens in our hobby. Many people focus on what is "wrong" on one version to the next but they don't look at how far things have come in 3 or 4 versions. Pretty amazing. These are great comparison shots to remind us, looking forward to seeing more!

If you want to check out screenshot #3 from FS98, 2000, 2002, 2004, FSX and Flight compared, check out my blog here: http://simmerhead.wordpress.com/I own FS5 as well, but there is no Hawaii scenery included! Funny thing though. In FS2000 I get just as poor frames as in FSX :) Can't really remember that it was an issue back in '99...
