January 27, 201115 yr That's fantastic news Stephen. I plan to build my Sandy rig this week-end and I was quite anxious about the RAM compatibility. Those Mushkin modules are unbelievable.I've had tons of very high quality RAM in my life, the Mushkin C6 are the best: no heat, easy overclocking, reliable and rock solid. Enjoy your new baby :--)I have to agree with you David. I have gone through my share of expensive RAM too but have never seen the like of these Mushkin 998805 and 998806 sticks. So fast and yet so cool. Another big bonus is how low they sit low, clearing the push-pull fans for the prolimatech Megahalems with perhaps a MM or two to spare. By the way, with the little I know about Sandy Bridge from experience, I can affirm that it is indeed a huge upgrade from my i7 [email protected] performance wise. Holy smokes David, with just the standard turbo software overclock, without even tuning it yet the little monster ran the PassMark test with the CPU scoring almost 12,000 points! Here are the stock numbers from the Passmark site:PASSMARK CPU TESTSThat is 105% more than the i7-930 at stock and a third better than the 9,000 when it was OCed at 4.3! What in the world will it do when running at 5.0GHz and have the other components optimized? This is the best upgrade bargain I have ever had or ever expect to have in a single leap. And all this can be had for just a few hundred dollars over an existing well built i7-9xx system! Swap the motherboard and CPU and that's it. Next week when I have time I will reinstall Windows 7 into RAID 0, load FSX and all the payware once again. :Whew: I could not figure out how to do it from the new "simplified" bios. Shhh, don't tell anybody! :blush:This is a lot of fun.Kind regards,

I have the P8P67 dlx version 1.032. tell me what bios version you have. The original one. And if you upgraded? . I presently use 12533. and try a little test: put your PC in sleep mode and recover and tell me if everything is fine after resuming. No rush, take your time. On my system I don't recover from sleep mode. Trying to figure if I should RMA and get a new one.Apart from that I'm having a lot of fun with this setup in FSX. January 27, 201115 yr 3. and try a little test: put your PC in sleep mode and recover and tell me if everything is fine after resuming.PierreHiThe recovery from sleep seems to be a bug which Asus and Intel are looking at. It will work if you switch of PLL Overvoltage in the bios although I havent tried it myself. Regards Howard H D Isaacs

There are people however who have no problem with sleep mode. So it might be something with the MB version.Pierre Pierre I9 14900K 5.5 64gb ram 6800 RTX5090 Asus Strix Gaming E

One of the Bluetooth drivers didnt load properly though. Regards Howard H D Isaacs

Looks like we just wait until they find a way to fix this. It's no big deal as I don't generally use the sleep function anyway. Other than that is all well with the build?Kind regards,

I already updated to BIOS 1204 which is the most recent one (2 hrs ago).Yes all is well with my build. Everyday I am impressed with the results and performance. I am slowly rebuilding FSX now with add-ons and making sure everything is a OK. I can even fly the F1 Mustang in high density sceneries now. This SB overclocks so easily: I have made a few tests at 4.6 and 4.7 and FSX runs just fine. I will need to find the sweet spot of OC. I would not want to push volt. at more than 1.4 or so. And I need to make tests with Overclocks at 4.5, 4.6, 4.7 and upwards if possible and correlate with some gain in FSX. Will see.Thank you again, you have a nice dayPierre Pierre I9 14900K 5.5 64gb ram 6800 RTX5090 Asus Strix Gaming E
January 27, 201115 yr Oh well, just a few hours ago I said I would wait for Ivy Bridge... but waiting a whole year felt like a lifetime hahaha. Just ordered a P8P67 Pro + I5 2500K

Just ordered a P8P67 Pro + I5 2500K Dario, that is funny! I had no intentions of buying Sandy Bridge either but thought it would just be a foolish way to spend a lot of money and gain little or nothing over my excellent i7 930, that would give a 980X some (minor) competition. But wow, the reviews almost had me from the first moment. When the performance reports began to surface, that was it. In for a penny, in for a pound. So far even after reading everything I can find on them, am still surprised as to how good they are. Good decision.Kind regards,

Here's hoping I end up with a good overclocker, but 4.6 - 4.8 should be doable. Glad to hear you have everything working fine already

January 27, 201115 yr The Sandy Bridge build is complete and now up and running. Nothing loaded or overclocked yet, but enjoying fresh install of windows. This HAF 942 case is absolutely gigantic. It towers over me on the side of the desk. Beautiful too and well thought out! It will take me a few days to get most things loaded. One good thing I have found already is that the Mushkin ram runs well at 6-8-6-24 at 1.6v instead of what I had it at 1.65 before. I was expecting that I would have had to up the timings, but not so.Kind regards,Cool:) Looking forward to your awsome reviews once you get it sorted.Picking up my oc bundle on Sat. 4.8 2600k, 8 gig xms3 1600cl7, evga 580gtx sc, corsair A70 (not c) and gig ud4 mobo:) Plus I am getting a corsair c300 256 gb ssd for all my photoreal as even the raptors suck at loading those for me big time. Keeping my ocz vertex 2 boot 60 gig, and and my ocx vertex 2 60 gig for fsx abd I finally get windows 7 64. Hopefully will get it set-up over the next couple of weeks and will let you guys know how it pans out from my 3.8 vista machine. Having to work my &@($* off to get the stuff:) Heres to new technology, sort of, and empty pocket books... Simon

January 28, 201115 yr You're not the only one who has praised the Mushkin Redine. Your comments pushed me over the edge and I ordered some from Newegg. I haven't ordered a motherboard yet but will probably go with an ASUS Deluxe. Would like to see some more of the initial bugs sorted out first though.Do you have a manufacturer or part number for the USB3 breakout box that ships with the Deluxe? I can't find any thing on the ASUS site about ordering it as an accessory and I'd like that option if I wind up with the Pro or EVO. The only boxes I've seen on the web have USB connectors and are designed to bring rear connections out to the front. I can't find one that plugs directly into a USB header. Thanks.
