EZDOK Camera anybody?

Featured Replies

Hi. Posted this in 747 forum with no answers yet and would really like to know:I am looking for a little more realism in the cockpit of my PMDG 747X especially during take-off, approach and landing. I have been looking at EZDOK CAMERA (EZCA for FSX) and it seems that it simulates movements created by turbulence or taxiway/runway survices and improves VC views. Is anybody using this addon with PMDG 747X that could tell me anything about it and what if any, affect it has on the all important performance (FPS etc).

Hi,I enjoy using it, its very realistic in the VC, I use it in all my PMDG aircraft, and I love it! I would definitely recommend it and I haven't really noticed any significant FPS loss. And you can fine tune all sorts of things with EzDok, and define different views accessible with one click. So yes, I really recommend it.

Thanks for your input guys, so it seems it is worth buying. I have seen posts talking about profiles. Does this mean you can add a profile for a specific AC? If so,is there one around for the PMDG 747-400X? (Being lazy)

Best advice I have is download the latest update such that you can save camera sets (vs. individual cameras) as .ECA files. Then load up the default FSX plane closest to the plane you are setting up (ie. the default 747 for PMDGs 744X) and save that set as say 744.ECA. Then load PMDGs 744X up (or whatever you are configuring), and load in the ECA file which you have just saved. Clear out the cameras you dont want, modify the viewing angles of those that you do want, and clone these for any new cameras you need. This way, all the bumping, and moving settings will be carried into your new cameras. You can then tinker with these settings later on if you so wish.Worked for me, was quick, and painless!RegardsRob

NGX will be coming with EZ Dok presets btw. (And I'll make them for our other aircraft too once 2.0 is released - the whole format is changing for 2.0 so I've held off on making them for now)

Is it ok with TrackIR? I have a touchscreen and wonder if the camera movement makes it difficult in the VC to press buttons, turn knobs and all that

Very nice - thanks Tabs. I bought it used it and liked it but deactivated it since I am focusing on my latest addition (Turbine Duke with RealityXP Garmin 530 - EXTREMELY very well done btw) . Ezdok "takes over" the FSX standard views (VC, spot and top down) and I have not the patience to deal with the less than poor documentation and the "user hostile" setup of external camera views. That's just me however and it might not be such a large deal for others. I just no longer want to spend hours "hacking" when I could be flying. It really is a good piece of software actually and as many have said (check out the EzDok forum) in spite of the lack of polish. It does work very well with TrackIR and the "head shake" feature add greatly to the sim it is definately a good sim addition. It came set up with external cameras views for my Aerosoft BeaverX (because it is similar to FSX native Beaver) and it does add greatly (at least for me) to the enjoyment of flying with the Beaver.I of course will give it another try with the NGX which I have targeted for purchase after the first NGX SP.

Cheers, Scott Ball

Hey Rick you might want to hold off on the purchase of ezca, there making a 2.0 version, its not a free update so you might aswell wait out a bit.

THANK GOD, this is one thing I dread about when I get a new plane.

Hey Dazz,I felt like I threw my money away when I purchased it. I could not get it to work right with my Track IR. I just gave up on it dude. If you have and use a Track IR, I would not recommend it. Ray Lemus

I think it works really great with track ir. If you can spend a little time on reading the manuals and learn to assign cameras yourself and set up key ahortcuts or joystick shortcuts it helps a lot when you're simming. It doesn't have the most user friendly interface though I must admit.

Hi Ian.Afraid it's too late. I purchased before your post so maybe i'll get lucky and get a break on the 2.0 price. Great product by the way. Just used it for In Cockpit camera for now and am quite impressed but as expected, very user unfriendly. I have registered with the support forum and am listening with interest to the good old PMDG crowd. Trying to set up ground effects in 'RND' etc., and trying to figure out the terminoligy in the manual (Bit Technical). However i admit i went in eyes open when purchasing. Thanks anyway for trying to give me a heads up.PS This product looks too good to give up on.
