May 24, 201115 yr I appreciate your professional sarcasm but what it boils down to is I doubt you're qualified to even speak about the real 737NG systems. Furthermore, nowhere did I say that the problems I experienced are true with ALL systems. Don't try to belittle me and suggest I am the only person with issues related to A/P and system hardware. Try to keep the conversation on an adult level otherwise try to refrain from posting. One more thing, a lot of payware aircraft won't engage the A/P when out of control limits. This isn't new to the flight sim world. Other quality payware products aren't as sensitive but all together just as "real."I really really don't want to be rude to you but I hope you do understand it is far from easy at this point.Having said that, I am going to refrain from reacting to your statements. If you need support, you know where we are.cheersJP.
May 24, 201115 yr For example, if GM or Ford manufactured the greatest vehicle ever known to mankind but it had one problem - they discovered nobody under 5'8" could drive it because they couldn't reach the gas pedal, I guarantee they would create a workaround. I'm quite sure they wouldn't snub their noses to all the short people and tell them they don't need their business - which they don't. But it is good business practice to keep and build a good customer base for future products. Right now, iFly is operating under a poor business model.Ford put a lever under the seats so that you can adjust your position to reach the pedals, and iFly put a config utility in their package so you can adjust your joystick. How are these two user-adjustable features so different that one is a shining example of good customer support and the other one is not? They both take approximately the same time to adjust.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
May 24, 201115 yr You know what's ironic? The OP is up and running fine, just like most everybody else with initial a/p issues. Clearly it's doable with a little bit of acclimation (if any). I've yet to purchase a high end simulation worth a hoot that did not have it's unique 'gotchas', requiring some adjustment of my habits and/or hardware.Having said that everyone is fully entitled to their own opinions, impressions and tolerances of any product, NO question. Regards, Mark
May 24, 201115 yr Like in the real aircraft, you cannot engage the autopilot as long as you put any pressure on the yoke. That's not literally true. There obviously must be margins. The descriptions given in accident reports on the B737-300 SU-ZCF at Sharm el-sheikh (Flash Airlines Flght 604) on 3 January 2004), and the B737-800 at Amsterdam (Turkish Airlines Flight tk19510 on 25 February 2009 make it clear than:- the autopilot will not engage if stick force in pitch is greater thsn 5 lb or in roll is greater than 2.25 lb- an engaged autopilot will be overridden at 25 pounds of stick force. Those effects could have been modelled, but this is a FS add-on not a full-motion simulator. It's impossible to model every last detail in full fidelity and it's foolish to expect it. On the other hand it's foolsh to go overboard with claims for perfect realism. Gerry Howard
May 24, 201115 yr Realistic or not, hard to evaluate it within the limits of Microsoft Fight SImulator. What is important is to appreciate the complexity and find a way round if it does not necessarily work.I also had problems with AP engagement (or disengaging itself in flight) in the beginning. But there is a way which ALWAYS works for me.Every time I install a new livery (via the ConfigTool), I later go to Flight Simulator 9 \ iFly \ 737NG \ MyConfig and open up the new ini file (using the NotePad).I find the line with the sensitivity and change the value from default 1500 to 100000, just like this: JoystickSensitivity=100000Since I stareted doing that I have not had a single AP problem. Try that!
May 25, 201115 yr I owe everyone here a huge apology and I am extremely embarrassed for some of the things I said about this aircraft. I postponed my refund request after I received information from another person who suggested an extremely simple fix that corrected my problem. I will not describe the fix here out of respect to the iFly support forum.Nevertheless, out of pure frustration I admit I wrote some things here that I should have refrained from writing. The fix that solved my problem was right under my nose and I read it in the iFly support forum more than once. I thought I had tried it but obviously I didn't. JP_Visser, I want to apologize to you personally. I understand if you don't accept but I regret the previous posts I made to you. You've been extremely helpful to many in the support forum and I'm grateful for the time you spend assisting others, including myself. Anyway, I made a flight after I fixed the problem I had and this aircraft performed flawlessly. Flyinpilot212121, you were right and I was wrong. I have mud on my face and I'm eating crow at the same time. Again, I am extremely embarrassed and I hope you iFly pilots and supporters will accept my apology. I offer no excuses other than my own stupidity. May 25, 201115 yr Takes a man to apologise. No harm done, and I hope you'll have a great time flying the aircraft.I can understand the frustration involved, trust me.As ever, if you need help, you know where we are.cheersJP.
May 25, 201115 yr OK guys,I am thinking about buying it , while the file is being downloaded. Since the forum is open only for registered people and no demo available, can you guys tell me if there any CTDs or bugs in this product? I don't want to throw away $56 on a buggy product.Thank you. May 26, 201115 yr Author Thanks, I will go ahead and buy it.-------------------------------------------------------------------You'll have no regrets. Have patience, and I do advise you to print out the Tutorial as well as the Operational manuals. Have the Tutorial on your lap as it takes you to China for your first flight. It will show you the proper progression to add data to the FMC and then be amazed at how the 737 takes to the route using that data....from 1,000 feet to touchdown if you set up an auto land scenario. If you have any trouble lighting up the COMMAND A or B on the A.P., go register at the iFly Support Forum and you will have that licked on your particular system in a matter of a few minutes or so by reading what-is-what.. Once you set up your control parameters....it will have been a one time occurrence.Enjoy as I am...Mitch
May 26, 201115 yr I did buy it and did two flights. All I can say is Wow. I hope those guys keep making new planes for FS9. Naif Almazroa My Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Youmou0205
