Aerosoft announced they would convert and develop products for X-Plane, as MS Flight may not fit their expectations...I found this on simFlight.com. Don't know what to make of it, would be disappointing to have quality software designers bailing on Flight. As i will probably buy both, not so much a problem i guess.Steve

Matijs will follow where the demand is- and there will be alot of demand for Flight. Aerosoft is all sour grapes at the moment for whatever reason. Presumably because MS screwed up their own development plans for an AS sim by announcing Flight.

My 2 cents on this,Aerosoft new about MS plan for Flight but did not like the new way MS will conduct business as far as Flight is concerned, as you know Aerosoft has store in other country so they want to keep selling the old way, also remember that when you have a problem with their add-on it's mainly because of your system not their fault :( ..... having Flight add-ons in MS store = no sales increase in their store, that's why they looked at having their own sim., the problem with that is money and time, you need to have a lot of money or a lot of investors (banks) to back you up on a project like that something they don't have and I'm not talking about the time it will take to do that. What's left for them if they don't want to conform to MS vivion of the store, supporting Xplane-10 seems to be the only solution at this time to increase their sales.

B) Don’t forget MS announced their intension to publish an FS sequel just as they closed the ACES studio. It was only rumor and speculation (in the FS community) that suggested the franchise was truly dead.We debated that for ages ;)I think Aerosoft jumped at an opportunity, and then got blocked when MS finally made public what they had been working on.It was unfortunate, and I think anyone can appreciate Aerosoft’s decision to step away from the MS sim. But, I hope they do come back eventually. There was no malicious intent. This isn’t about having extra secret info (under an NDA)…it’s about not having enough info…and speculations turning to rumor. :blush:I love to speculate - obviously :( .But it's really important to keep this stuff at arm's length.Particularly around the closing of ACES...We're still seeing theories getting posted as the truth.I have yet to read one that actually matches all the facts :(

Maybe the simplicity of Microsoft Flight didn't mesh with their plans and X-Plane 10 seemed like a better fit.Regards, Mike Mann

Aerosoft must not be very smart, because Microsoft never said Flight was going to just be a simple game.

You are right, it's all speculations.

With Flight the FS ecosystem will keep growing, therefore more scenery to be sold. so Aerosoft will be back.Cheers,- jahman.

Maybe Hawaii isn't Aerosoft's cup of tea!Regards, Mike Mann

Well, i dont understand it anymore. A long time ago Aerosoft started a forum about a complete new fight sim: Aerosoft Flightsim 2012.Everybody jumped on it. Mathijs asked questions that were very detailed about certain flight aspects. The latest news on the forum is that they have found partners but the whole financial side of the project will take time. Since then the forum died. Mathijs has not returned to give headups.

Asus Maximus Hero Vii // I7-4790K @ 4,6 // 2x8 GB Corsair Platinum 2400 // SSD OCZ 120 GB // Samsung pro SSD 500GB // 2 x 1 GB Western Digital Blue Raid 0
Saitek Proflight Yoke + Rudders + 2 extra throttle quadrants // Track IR 4.0 // VRinsight T&T Panel // Logitech 3D Extreme // Saitek X55//  1000 cables...

IMO With MS Flight's upcoming 'app store' the business of 3rd party publishing and sales of FS addons will likely be finished. The MS Flight Terms of Use might state that the official app store (with M$ taking a cut) is the only legal way to get payware addons. If that happens the likes of Flight1, Just Flight and SimMarket will go out of business. It's rather obvious that Microsoft decided on something Aerosoft didn't like and the latter is trying to branch out to X-Plane.

As long as a new MSFS remains on the radar (Unless MS Flight truly bombs, i.e. Simcity Societies) Any other flight sim, including X-plane and those by Aerosoft will be a sideshow. MS simply has too much market power and Aerosoft isn't going to pull the trigger on what could be their most expensive project ever if they know that they'll have to compete with FS.

I recall Mathijs making some comments to the effect that MS Flight did not impress him at all, and he considered that Aerosoft would be able to make a much more impressive flight sim.The sticking point still appears to be the lack of a suitable engine if Aerosoft are to be believed.Bryan.

I Think so as well, I mean Aerosoft sells TML-Studios/Astragon stuff like "Bus and Cable Car simulator", "World of Subways" and "Digger Simulator" etc based on FPS/GTA4 type engines but not a Flight Sim. However they can buy other people's work like Outerra.

The whole point of the store is to give 3rd party developers a place to sell their add-ons. Microsoft has already said they can't do it all themselves. Couldn't be more clear.
