What you meant to say is "I think MS thinks we will have to deal with MS points". And if they think that they would be wrong. If Flight makes it compulsory for me to connect to any MS service I will simply not buy it. I suspect most here would echo my views in this regard.
-1I dont ... I dont understand your issue with MS points, Is not a big deal at all.

+1 i am in a part of the world where regular power supply is still a big issue let alone internet access to a store just to play flight. If flight really needs a service then i am sticking to fs9/fsx until things improve in my country or MS has a change of heart.LOL

Nobody is saying you will NEED to connect to MS servers just to play, we are just speculating on how they will intergrate the store to buy add-ons, obviously you are going to have to have internet access to purchase add-ons, just like we do now. I've got no problem with points, multiple payment options would be ideal.

How do you know that FSUIPC will be needed for Flight or even be of any use?
FSUIPC is definitely needed and is in fact essential in the Home Cockpit World to program hardware switches and homemade throttle quadrants etc.. Unless Flight provides some way of interfacing toggle switches etc, then a Home Cockpit will be impossible. I really doubt this feature will be provided. With Pete not intending to develop FSUIPC for Flight, a lot of us will have no other choice but to stay with FSX.Bill

I seem to recall Pete Dowson writing that a key reason for developing FSUIPC for FSX was to provide compatibility for legacy add-ons. He also wrote that the FSX version of FSUPIC relied on Simconnect, and that anyone developing a new project should use Simconnect rather than FSUIPC. It doesn't surprise my that he isn't going to develop FSUIPC for Flight. Simconnect can handle external switches etc.

Simconnect on its own can't handle anything. It is a programming interface, not a user interface. You still need to have software that would use Simconnect - just like FSUIPC does now - to be able to define your plane-specific axes, buttons, etc. FSUIPC also provides backward compatibility for plane designers who were already familiar with the FSUIPC SDK as an interface to FS2004 and wanted to upgrade their planes for FSX without rewriting a lot of code to use Simconnect. Pete could break out the relevant code that uses Simconnect and provide the user interface to program controllers, however, this may be a bigger job than we think and he may not want to bother with it. At this point we don't even know if Simconnect will be the interface to Flight or if/when it will be released to the general public, which at this point seems to include Pete.

Clearly, I am not debating that the Simconnect SDK has functions that enable you to set FSX variables in response to pushing a button, however, you either need to know how to program or you need FSUIPC -- or a program like it -- to give you a way to define what a particular key press or button should do. To be clear, you need FSUIPC's user interface, not its SDK - two different things.

The singular difference between FSUIPC and SimConnect is that where SimConnect is only useful to actual programmers... ...FSUIPC offers an immense suite of functionality that nearly anyone can use, ranging from the average user to advanced programmers!

That is of course true. My understanding is that Pete Dowson doesn't intend to develop FSUIPC for Flight - he wants to spend more time on other things. If so, then for Flight it's something like Simconnect or nothing - assuming Flight offers even offers that.
