Pre-oreder

Featured Replies

Just a thought for the future.... Maybe... not sure but..... maybe once a plane reaches a certain point of development, say Wide Beta.......We could maybe pre-order the plane so that when it comes out...... all we would have to do is log in and download.... Might help the servers a little on release day. Anyways, just a thought. Feel free to shoot me down in a giant fiery blaze.Whistle.gif

i've had my experiences with preordering flightsim products and i've regretted taking that chance to this day, so i'll pass on that

I think I remember Ryan (pretty sure it was Ryan, it could've been Robert) say that there is no pre-order. And I don't think you really have to worry about being shot down in a giant fiery blaze from most of the people here.

Ryan said there was no need because the day of the release they would have "virtually unlimited bandwidth." So server strain won't be a factor.

A preorder on a download product really doesn't even mean anything. There's no shortage of supply or anything like there could be with a physical game boxed copy or whatever.Pre-ordering wouldn't really help with any server related things either - it's not the purchasing part that causes issues, it's the downloads and we've already taken care of that with the new system.

I've never understood pre-ordering Flight Sim products. There's no guarantee you'll ever receive a finished product (A la someone else, not to be named...). Why give someone your money before getting a product - when there is no such thing as a shortage of supply when it eventually does come out.

The only real reason I see for pre-ordering is so you are notified as soon as the product is released and to get a discount if it is offered for pre-ordering. Neither apply with the NGX. There is no discount offered and we are all camped out over here, so we will know when it comes outBig%20Grin.gif

As soon as we give them money, we now have an investment, and they now owe us something as "shareholders." Translated, that gives the whiners a reason to whine. Why give them an extra reason when they're doing that already, not having paid a dime for the current product? It really provides little benefit to anyone, and I could see how it could go horribly wrong for both parties, so it seems incredibly obvious why they have not set up a pre-order system so far.Even the printed manuals are an on-demand product, right? The only real reason I'd argue pre-order would be nice, is to get an advance download, slightly before a public release. If bandwidth isn't an issue, though, it doesn't much matter to me. Furthermore, the issue above of being notified could easily be solved by a mailing list, without the pitfalls of pre-orders.

There's an easy solution for that besides camping the forum as well. Sign up for NGX email notifications from Angle of Attack. Since they're releasing the first video lesson in the NGX package on day 1, presumably the email alert that it's available would also mean the NGX is available.

There's no pre-order, but for an extra $200, once it is released you can download the special, limited edition NGX that comes with an individually numbered download number and a special email from PMDG certifying what number customer you were. Limited to the first 250,000 downloads. Also included in the email will be select quotes from P.T. Barnum. PMDG please accept this excellent revenue enhancement suggestion as a gift from a loyal customer.

Scandinavion, you realize that there is a clear difference between buying a share of a company and preordering, right? It's the difference between owning a piece of the company and simply owning their product.

I see PMDG charging 80 to $100 but never $200, that's insane, even if they did charge $100 is is far better than the competition, and we know who they are.Michael Pare.
