July 23, 201114 yr This one seems to have more travel on aileron axis than the regular saitek yoke, whic is a welcome improvement but $199 for a yoke? Ouch :Black Eye:
July 23, 201114 yr Accurate 1:1 scaled yoke handle found in Cessna® light aircraft Looks vile.Centre clock / stopwatch is gone.............( Making it cheaper to manufacture ) Durable Stainless Steel shaft with precision bearings gives smooth and predictable elevator and aileron control Utter dribble. They said this with the older model, 99% of people complained about the sticky elevator axis...This ''presision bearing'' turned out to be a PLASTIC RING!! oh, but dont try lubricating it..1:Any kind oil will eat away the plastic ring, making the shaft wobble about, and 2 : it invalidates your warranty Used with the supplied ST Programming software, integrated mode switch trebles the number of controls you have at your fingertips No it dont Separate throttle quadrant with additional switches to configure any combination of throttle, flaps, mixture or prop pitch. Mount on top, in front of your desk, pilot or co-pilot side so that the controls are exactly where you want them Throttle hasnt been improved from the 1st model, its the same. They could have put some material on the throttle/mixture/pitch slider gates to stop dust getting in.(like you see on the NGX throtles)and making the throttle jump to 70% although the throttles nearly closed. This dust falls down into the reverse thrust detent and stops it from working also, witch have made me crash many times. Unique, 2-position desk clamp keeps your yoke and quadrant securely fixed no matter how extreme the flying conditions Nothing new. POV Hat Switch Nothing new. 3-position Mode Switch 3 axis levers on Quadrant 16 buttons, 3 lever detent buttons Nothing new... So all in all :Very dissapointingThey need educating on what a bearing is.The throttle quad can only be plugged into the yoke with a silly plug, so if you wanted to use the throttle quad only, you cant. You need to buy another, whitch comes with a USB socket ( also ridiculously priced for what it is)The stop watch/clock feature is gone ( i use this every flight...).Without haveing to manufacture this part ( whitch consits of 3 push buttons, an LCD screen, a perspex ''window'' and a small chip (brain) to run the LCD screen) it makes it cheaper to manufacture. Then you see the price..200 bucks..for less product....(70% increase in price from the 1st model too)Dream on Saitek....If you want to charge prices in the range of much superior products, try actually making something superior from your first model ay?....noobs..Faith in Saitek? after there customer service? after the leaving me with the crock of .... yoke i have to fly with??..... No. Infact i dout ill ever buy a saitek yoke again.Shame really coz there other products are nice. Regards Luke M
July 23, 201114 yr Still the new trim wheel they are bringing out looks nice, 9 turns stop to stop. Cheers, Andy.
July 25, 201114 yr For those questioning the price, that's the retail price. Compare that price with the retail price of the current yoke and the CH yoke -- it's very close. Once on Amazon, expect to see that $199 get much lower. For example, it looks like the retail price of the current Saitek is $169 so $30 difference. In fact, according to the Pilot Shop, the CH Eclipse Yoke retails for $230!I'm not sure how someone can trash it just from reading the blurbs which don't say much. Honestly, if it has more travel and no detente, I'll probably get it once Amazon or another retailer chop some dollars off. Really, it looks like the next step up is at least in the $500 for just the yoke (PFC) which looks great but that's still over three times the difference in cost. Also, excited about the trim wheel. Finally!Edit: the reason I remain hopeful is I just purchased their new combat ruder pedals and they are fantastic and quite a bit better from what I've seen of similar pedals. If they've made the same quality improvement in this new yoke, then it should be a good item.
July 25, 201114 yr Great, I purchased a saitek yoke 3 weeks ago. If I had known this version was coming out I would have waited!90 degree turn as well.I don't see any reference to a longer shaft though? Will have to get the trim wheel though....... If I had known this version was coming out I would have waited!90 degree turn as well.I don't see any reference to a longer shaft though? Will have to get the trim wheel though.......Looking at the pictures of the main housing it looks no larger than their earlier model so I can't see how they would accomadate a larger shaft.Bryan.

Looks exactally like the 172 yokes in the 172's I rent minus the leatherette center trim. And clock? Not one 172 at my local FBO (KSNA Sunrise Aviation) has a 172 with a yoke clock.I think they're going more for replicating an actual Cessna yoke. This thing retails under 200.00 US.The next step up the ladder is the VR insight yoke at 500.00 US (never tried one) Then the PFC Cirrus/Beach yoke at 545.00 US.I've owned the Cirrus yoke and quess what, the elevator axis was sticky too, so I sold it and bought the PFC Jetliner column mounted SAAB yoke, no more sticky elevator, but I sold it off as it just didn't feel right with GA planes, and I had just taken delivery of a complete set of A320 panels and side sticks from FDS for an A320 cockpit build. Now that I'm flying 172's for real, I've been tinkering with the idea of getting the Flightlink AV-B yoke at 2000.00 US, but this time am going to drive to Chico and actually check out the elevator axis for smoothness before plunking down the change. In the mean time may pickup and try out the Saitek Cessna yoke, it actually looks kinda cool, and can be returned if it feels THAT bad, but 200.00 US is pretty darn cheap in the cockpit building hobby, about what the tax will be on my AV-B console. If I had known this version was coming out I would have waited!90 degree turn as well.I don't see any reference to a longer shaft though? Will have to get the trim wheel though.......If the elevator trim wheel is on an assigned joystick axis, how do you keep it from interfering with the autopilot altitude hold? I built my own trim wheel, but I couldn't use it with any plane's autopilot. It seems like the elevator trim has to be assigned to joystick buttons...KDub

Might see if its possible now....Looking at the pictures of the main housing it looks no larger than their earlier model so I can't see how they would accomadate a larger shaft.Bryan.Exactly....and there is no mention of it on the product page. If they've made the same quality improvement in this new yoke, then it should be a good item. The CH Eclipse is as smooth as butter to operate and does not have that silly detent. I also had constant calibration issues. I actually returned my Saitek yoke and got the Eclipse. Never looked back. I hope their new offering is leaps and bounds better than their old one or it just plain isn't worth it. In all honesty, if I received the Saitek yoke I had before for free I still wouldn't have used it. July 28, 201114 yr I think this yoke has potential. I was worried about the quality of the pods that Saitek use but I've just found out that some people have managed to replace the worn out "trim pods" in their throttle/yoke units with far better pods and they are using their throttle/yoke again with much better precision now. (pod replacement requires a new joystick board too which fits in the yoke unit so no problems..)

July 31, 201114 yr I think he means pots as in slang for variable potentiometer and there is no need to replace the brains of the device, you only need to replace the pot itself, unless you want to go down the Hall Effect sensor route in which case that may be true I'm not sure. Cheers, Andy.
July 31, 201114 yr hi,I am curious to find out if it has the "stupid "detent of the previous saitek yoke... My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
