July 30, 201114 yr Hey everyone. I have been away for a week and I am having a hard time keeping up with all the new activity on the forums. It is hard to believe the countdown is started. I recently purchased Trackir for the NGX and have been having a hard time getting the viewpoints right. I downloaded several xml files from the trackir forums and have fiddled with them a bit but just can't seem to get it so that I cans see all the displays. I have been watching Nicks videos from angle of attack and he seems to have a perfect profile. I could benefit from someones experience here and wondered if they could post their xml settings from me to try. Thanks. Mike Keigley

July 30, 201114 yr Commercial Member Hi all, You can get my TrackIR profile used in those videos here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2000149/Angle%20of%20Attack%20737NGX%20Training%20enbseries%2C%20REX%2C%20cfg%2C%20TrackIR%20Files.zip Bear in mind that it won't work for everyone, so don't be afraid to tweak the settings. It's really not that hard! July 30, 201114 yr Hey guys.I've been considering purchasing TrackIR for a while now and really can't make my mind up. It seems really cool, but the problem is, if I do purchase it, I'l be broke for half a year or more. You see, a 14 year-old like me doens't earn that whole lot of moneyXD. So what do you guys think, would it be worth it?
July 30, 201114 yr Nick, thanks for taking time to post this, just been on a quick flight with your Track IR config and liked it, definitely a keeper James Hughes
July 30, 201114 yr I've seen videos on TrackIR and EZDOK. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they both seem to do essentially the same thing. What is the advantage to having both programs? Ron Priever
July 30, 201114 yr Commercial Member I've seen videos on TrackIR and EZDOK. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they both seem to do essentially the same thing. What is the advantage to having both programs? There are entirely different concepts, and do entirely different things, but they are both equally vital in my books. TrackIR is head mounted, and allows hands off movement of the camera. EZDok allows you to create preset views to easily move around the cockpit from one panel to another. This has made the 2D cockpit completely obsolete for me. It also allows you to smoothly pan around the cockpit and the exterior of the aircraft. You can also set up motion effects - the camera will bounce in turbulence, as you takeoff/land etc. <a href="http://www.flyaoamedia.com"><img src="http://angleofattack.s3.amazonaws.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/aoasiggy.png"/></a> Nick Collett i5 2500k @ 4.4GHz, GTX 480, 8GB Corsair 8-8-8-24, 300GB WD Velociraptor, Corsair HX850W
July 30, 201114 yr Nick, Will the EZDOK program give me different angels to view the VC? For example, right now I use the <space bar/mouse> to zoom and pan around. One issue is that certain controls (eg: the autobrake in the MD11) are hard to reach. Will the EZDOK program allow for better access? I'd like to buy both, but between the upcoming NGX release and a certain company's instructional videos <hint>, I can't really afford TrackIR at this time. Ron Priever
July 30, 201114 yr Will the EZDOK program give me different angels to view the VC?yes it will ... if you don't have the money and never experienced it you needn't buy it, because once you use trackir you wont be able to fly without it anymore and even if it would cost 1000$ you would save the money to get it and until then you wont touch the sim until you have it ...just my experience ... it may differ to other people P.L. Sure, EZ Dok allows you to set up multiple custom camera views. All you'd have to do is set up a view centered on each of the panels with your preferred zooms & cycle through them. July 30, 201114 yr My TIR4 is sat in a drawer gathering dust since I got EZDOK, I found the constant pausing TIR to accurately hit a click spot to be too much hassle. I have several views setup for my 767 and assign a joystick button to each so I can smooth pan around the VC. Yeah TIR is good but not essential and personally I find it annoying - just my view :)
July 30, 201114 yr EZdok will allow you to switch off TIR for any of the preset views you make with it, if you so wish, so there is no reason for your TIR4 to sit in the draw gathering dust they both work brilliantly together once you have them set up correctly. Cheers, Andy.
