August 8, 201114 yr I was on an approach into KATL and suddenly my frames went from 25 to 7-9....almost unplayable, but it wasn´t the fault of the NGX...MyTraffic puts ALOT of traffic on that airport, even with settings at 15 %....when all the traffic was loaded into memory, everything was smooth again. Oliver Donner
August 8, 201114 yr Turn off Autogen. Turn off all traffic. Cloud coverage to Minimum and go from there. Maybe even bringing Scenery Complexity down a notch or two. Uncheck both the boxes in simualtion settings under the Weather Tab aswell ( Read NGX Intro) . I would finally say bring both Mesh Complexity and Resolution to full because I think those affect the physical terrain (elevation) which I would think corresponds to a more accurate depiction of terrain on the NGX's ND. Actually also put AA on and use Antistropic filtering I mean shesh you have a GTX570! He already has AA and AF on through nvidia inspector! August 8, 201114 yr Yeah well i don't have autogen on at all. because fsx is totally awful with the trees and 3d buildings. if you think about it when your in the air your not going to see them anyway try turing autgen off full stop report back if it's helped.Turning autogen off is a performance killer. In fs9 turning off autogen increased performance, in fsx, it is quite the opposite. It should be set at a min of normal at least. Some of your advice is for someone with a low end system, which the OP does not have. I take it your new ?
August 8, 201114 yr Unfortunatley, there are a LOT of 'newbies' on here at the moment offering extremely bad advice.Changing multiple items in the .cfg and running all 'miracle tweaks' known to man since 2006 is a sure fire way to disaster. August 8, 201114 yr I think you guys will find my nvidia inspector settings screenshot tonight interesting works awesome for me :) Rich Sennett
August 8, 201114 yr I'm having similar problems as the OP. When flying over Amsterdam Schiphol (Aerosoft Mega Airport) my fps drop down to about 10. I know that Mega airport Amsterdam is quite an fps hog, but I can't remember having this low fps with either the MD11 or the 747X, the lowest I ever went was high teens (16-20). I've setup my AA/AF through nvidia inspector to AA 8xQS and 16x AF. FSX is setup as per the instructions in the NGX introduction and the .CFG is tweaked with ******* settings. August 8, 201114 yr AA 8xQS and 16x AF as I also did use the one that says supermode 64 x 12 something like that I am at work and do not have the proper description, I think you will like it Sir Rich Sennett
August 8, 201114 yr Author Ryan, Are you using REX? Some of the wave animation textures in it can be super hard on FPS - at one point writing the tutorial flight I had like 10 FPS over the North Sea and it was the REX wave animation doing it. Try turning water down to Low 2.0 or even High 1.x and see if that helps at all - there's a lot of water in that area.Ill try that Ryan, that might be the culprit noticing how KFLL is also a slowdown and its near water tooUnfortunatley, there are a LOT of 'newbies' on here at the moment offering extremely bad advice. Changing multiple items in the .cfg and running all 'miracle tweaks' known to man since 2006 is a sure fire way to disaster.lol, but yes it has helped me when I tried putting those in, I was like I just wasted $1500 on a PC last week for this until I put the tweaks on! -Ryan Vince Quote from 911 magazine: "- ...RSR delivers unparallelled performance and stunning looks"
August 8, 201114 yr I had the same thing happen to me using REX sparkling setting. I dug those wave animation textures out, the ones called "oceanheight...." , 4 or 5 of them if I recall, and found they were 32bit texturres. I simply converted them to DXT5, put them back in and now no FPS drop over water and it still looks the same. I mentioned it to Tim and REX and he mentioned they might fix that in the future. Sean Campbell That's interesting since I also use the sparkling wave animation in REX. How can I convert those 32bit textures to DXT5? TIA,
August 9, 201114 yr I think I might have a small issue somewhere that is killing my FPS maybe, or is it just Seattle?I average between 10-15FPS in the Seattle area and around 25 in a normal place, my 2600K is overclocked to 4.5GHz and got an Nvidia 570 It's the water, can you try with 1x effects? It had a major effect for me in Tampa FL. Stefan Ticusan Stefan Ticusan
August 9, 201114 yr Author I get good FPS at TPA, around 25-30FPS with no water change -Ryan Vince Quote from 911 magazine: "- ...RSR delivers unparallelled performance and stunning looks"
August 9, 201114 yr Commercial Member My processor is a cool 1.1 GHz slower than yours running at stock speeds and made by AMD, yet I can get 35 FPS out of it quite easily at Heathrow on VATSIM. Answer: realize FSX is not the best-coded sim in existence, and that some of the eye-candy disproportionately kills performance. Just compare FSX AutoGen and AI traffic performance to that of FS9 - there is no reason whatsoever for it to be slower than FS9, yet it is. 45 FPS, and FSX can only dream about looking this good. It is using DX9, too. 30 FPS in this shot (after having had my aircraft damaged by enemy fire). You can walk around after ejecting (if you survive). :) Last one for kicks. Proving trim is everything, after my wing-man ejected on finals. His jet started to climb due to the loss of some weight. :) 35 FPS. Best regards,Robin.
August 9, 201114 yr Have you guts checked out my inspector settings, also you need to make fsx menu setting antistropic for this to work try it. Rich Sennett
