August 10, 201114 yr "C'mon guys! If you're going to blast folks for "doing it wrong", little confused I am not reading anyone getting blasted only good info to head on over to overclockers.net, they are the pros at this and would be in his best intrest to do so Cory. Rich Sennett
August 10, 201114 yr Guys, it makes me feel really sick that I see such tweaks over and over again. Do you just go copy/pasting tweaks as you find them? This is not exactly a polite post Richard. In fact, in this thread and two others there are people who feel they can tout their tweak knowledge and not share it. What good is the knowledge if you aren't passing it along? And, I'm talking about posts asking to tweak their FSX.CFG file not overclock. In regard to overclockers.net they have a fantastic and helpful forum. The problem is that performing a OC may complicate your FSX troubles if you are not stable to begin with. If you are already stable, getting to 5GHz can do nothing but enhance your sim experience (but hopefully not shorten the life of your CPU!) "I am the Master of the Fist!" -Akuma
August 10, 201114 yr Ah sorry Cory knowledge is king and you are spot on, I am always willing to help and explain things, thinking you were referring to overclocking I was a fish out of water until the great guys over at oc.net helped me out and did not want to give anyone some bad info on that subject not enough experience in overclocking just tweaking in fsx, thanks for the explanation. August 10, 201114 yr I hade the same problem. What I did is uninstall all the NVidia options 3D Vision Controller Driver, 3DVision Driver, Hd Audio Driver, Nvidia Update and PhysX System Software just leaving the Graphics Driver. My frames moved up by 5 fps. I also noticed that using EVGA Precision that my GPU usage % went down to 50% from 100% when flying over Seattle. Hope this helps Craig Hustadt Windows 7 64 bit OS - Intel 2600K @ 4.8 GHz RAM 8GB - Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 @ 1920 x 1200 Intel SSD 250
August 10, 201114 yr 3D Vision Controller Driver, 3DVision Driver, Hd Audio Driver, Nvidia Update and PhysX System Software - interesting Craig I didn't know you could uninstall of those, I got rid of the 3d vision so no problem getting rid of the rest ?, thanks. Rich Sennett

Also, my posts regarding leaving AG off has fallen on deaf ears, so I give up. Edit: Gee Word Not Allowed, that's the second time we both have posted the same time, spooky

You must be somewhere central european...6:44 is usually time before work... for me at least it is today.
August 10, 201114 yr Has anyone actually tested the settings he has at the same location so we can see he has a major issue or not? I had 11 FPS flying out of a much less dense area, the problem was I had my inspector settings on SuperCVAA which really hurts FPS when it's cloudy. I guess thats KSEA at 11o'clock, can try it later this evening and see what I get. -Iain Watson-

I guess thats KSEA at 11o'clock, can try it later this evening and see what I get. That's an idea. We have in another thread a huge testing file consisting of excel sheet and some numbers. We can do that with NGX. I'll construct it when I get time. No, I'm about 15000km's to the south west. of you. New Zealand. it is Wed 1700hrs . OK, then it's really spooky
August 10, 201114 yr 5 years later and FSX is still killing our systems. I can't believe people with 2600K systems get less FPS than me though. I have a CoreDuo 8500 clocked to 3.7 Ghz and I get 15-18 fps at EGLL, in the VC. In the 747 and MD-11 I get around 25 fps in the same area, so the NGX is definitely resource intensive. But ultimately it comes down to FSX itself and its horribly optimized engine. Emil Bjornholt - Norway - ENGM ~ Ultimate guide to the best FSX Addons on the market ( 2014 ) ~ www.fsxgetstarted.com/
August 10, 201114 yr Moderator That's interesting since I also use the sparkling wave animation in REX. How can I convert those 32bit textures to DXT5? TIA, I found there is a utility called Imagetool in the FSX SDK, could I use that to convert the oceanhight textures from 32bit->DXT5 textures? Also if this Imagetool can be used, does anyone know if I can download this tool separately somewhere or do I need to install the full FSX SDK I found on the FSX DVD 1?Richard,Sorry for the delay in responding to you. This forum moves so fast the past few days that a post will end up on page three in a matter of an hour or two.Anwyays, I use a freeware tool called DXTBmp you can find it buy doing a google search for it. It's very easy to do. Just find the following textures in your FSX/Texture folder and back them up:OceanHeight20FieldLayer.ddsOceanHeight20FieldLayer1.dds OceanHeight20FieldLayer2.ddsOceanHeight20FieldLayer5.ddsThen open DXTBmp and drag the first one into it and it will open and show the texture as being 32bit. Just resave it as DXT5 and your done, if you reload the same texture you will now see the file size being drastically smaller and listed as DXT5. Then repeat the same process for the other 3 texture and replace them in your FSX/Texture folder. That's it!! It's easy to do and saved me all the problems I was having when running that particular water animation set.Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 10, 201114 yr In reply to:[bUFFERPOOLS]UsePools=0RejectThreshold=102400PoolSize=2097152 Guys, it makes me feel really sick that I see such tweaks over and over again. Do you just go copy/pasting tweaks as you find them? There are reasons why UsePools=0 makes your system spin up.You should READ about what those tweaks really do, and you would understand that having Usepools=0 and Poolsize=2097152 doesn't make any sense. And when your sim starts crashing from unknown reason, you will wonder why the hell the newest addon you purchased is crashing from unknown reason, while you will never be thinking about Usepools=0, or so called BP=0 tweak as it was called long long time ago!Argh.Whats your Problem Mr. fsx.cfg? Are you the only one Knowing each cfg entry? I don't think so. And I know that the poolsize Setting has no effect when using no pools. Just copied my settings Not more. I Know what i do when i want to optimize settings and im definitely no Computer Amateur.
August 10, 201114 yr pmdg,s 737 ngx is NOT killing your system fsx is.fsx i from 1990 in development, talk to microsoft.im very impressed that pmdg have made it running so good and see how wonderfull it is.ifly 737 is eating more fps and it can not compare to the 737ngx in grafic.so please guys do not blame pmdg blame microsoft instead.
