FSX.CFG file,cant find

Featured Replies

Hi Guys.I could really do with some help. For some reason I just cant find my FSX.CFG file.I have searched my FSX folder in Windows (Vista 64 bit).FSX starts up perfectly, and I use PMDG 747-400X and 737NGX with no real problems, but I would like to add the HIGHMEM fix that is being mentioned in the 737NGX forum for better frame rates.I have always added scenery/aircaft to the default FSX folder.I know I should have this CFG file for FSX to work but at a loss to where it is on my system.Any help would be great.Thanks.Tony Simpson

It's in a hidden folder called AppData which is in your user area of C drive. You need to go into folder options and unhide hidden folders to see it.

Did you look in hidden files?? I found there one time, it's easy enough to find.

Hi,Thanks for the quick reply. I have found the AppData ( though it wasn't in FSX and there were no files inside relating to FSX) file and made sure in folder options that hidden files was ticked to be displayed.,but still cant find it. I would have thought now with the hidden files selecetd to be shown I would just type in FSX.CFG in the search area of Windows and it would show. Would I be right in saying that I must have an FSX.CFG file? I guess I have as FSX works on my PC no problems.Maybe I need to do a complete reinstall but dont really fancy that. Thanks for your help anyway Tony Simpson

Thanks trip7cap. Success!!!! The reason I couldnt find it searching in Windows was because I typed it FSX.CFG rather than fsx.CFG Thanks to everyone that replied. Tony

Two Windows folder options you want to change ASAP:"Show hidden files and folders" - ON "Hide extensions for known filetypes" - OFF If you have the first one off, you can't see the AppData folders within your User folder. If you have the second one on, you'll just see "fsx", not "fsx.cfg".

Richard.Yes thats the file I used in ******* Altuve fsx.CFG tweak.Have to say I used it earlier today and I managed to get over 35fps at some points over Seattle in the 737NGX in the 2D cockpit, about 10-17 in VC. Vast improvement on an older system. I have a Quad core 2.83ghz 8GB RAM and 2xNviidia 9800GTX+ SLi. Tony

Honestly, quicker to Google it, than wait for someone to answer.

What is your operating system?

2 days looking  for it,  simple solution is  given in the above post google it, or  go to your start option and in the search box  type in fsx.cfg  and it will bring up the locations of  the fsx.cfg.   You can do this for any exes you want  to find in your pc .

But the most likely problem is  that you got your folder hidden   you need to go to your folder option and untick  hidden folders

You should be looking  for  this in your pc   C:  user/your name/app data/roaming/Microsoft/fsx

Why read what's already written?  If people did that, they'd read manuals, too.

finding this file  (fsx.cfg) is like flying a 747 backwards!! I am aware that it is in the computer ;B U T I unable to bring it to view. I have a hard copy of this file & its 7 pages long I attempted to log this file on to the program, names "FSX.CFG new" Sounds as if the computer is human and unwilling to release any info ?? I'm lost, but to the many who haave attempted to assist I thank you all : If however I manage

to dredge it up from the bowles of this monster I will share my joy Thanks all
