737 NGX concerns and questions

Update.... day 2 and still happy with it. I just finished the tutorial flight and all went well. I tried the CFG tuneup they suggested from ******* and I get a smoother sim without it. HIMEM FIX/reject threshold/WIDE VIEW are the only tweeks or fixes I am using as of now. I wonder is people are having issue due to running their CFG thru the tune up by *******. Some people had problems with the tweeks prior to NGX and if they were on the cusp of having any FSX issues the NGX may just be pushing it over the edge. Just my opinion though. Jim

Iron, I posted some screen shots here http://forum.avsim.n...-with-core2duo/ that show the VC a little bit, along with the performance I am getting on my older rig. I am running resized VC textures but even the resized ones are incredibly sharp and I honestly can't tell much difference from them and the originals. Good luck whatever you do, but in my opinion the PMDG NGX is the best plane I have ever owned for FS9 or FSX.
I must honestly say: you do wonders with your system. Proofs that not only the newest rigs perform in FSX, although my impression is you put a lot of effort - "texture"and otherwise - into it....

Guys please tell me should I go with iFly (I like the graphics better ) or NGX ( found a difference in handling the iFly feels heavier) .
I have them both but I haven't even thought about loading up the iFly since the PMDG arrived. Not that is is that bad, just that PMDG's edition is a lightyear or two ahead in every things that matters to me. IFly was really interesting while waiting for this new one and I did enjoy it. The last time I checked their support site they were still mumbling about getting the first tutorial out for the FSX version. They packaged the old FS9 tutorial in the FSX release, bummer. One thing going for the iFly is all the additional models are there - 600, 700, 800, 900, BBJs. If you are into model counting or just have a crush on a 700 or so, then that might be the one for you. Their repaints are also quite good, but nothing like the PMDG. I personally don't think the iFly can hold a candle to the systems and interior of the PMDG, but, that is just one opinion. I'm sure there a many in their camp that thinks it walks (flies) on water. Ray

I saw both these girls at friend's different characteristics to both, now I am not a RL flyer so would not be able to judge but looking at the reviews I think it's time to buy it. Yeah a crush which developed after looking at the screenies :) And the interesting part is going through all the flight manuals and understanding 0% of it :)

1) If you knew what you know now, would you still get the NGX?Definitely yes.2) Are you getting the performance expected from your system in the NGX?Quite, yes. After the hype, thought I'd be getting a bit more, but it's enough considering the detail.3) Have you had to turn down sliders to get acceptable performance? No. I get 20-40fps, which is enough in general. It's fluid - that's way more important!4) Does PMDG have a refund policy like F1 has?No.

I don't know but I find the VC not looking crisp you have to Zoom in to get the text clear, is there any setting ? I find the VC doesnot look that good.

It looks nice and crisp here.It doesn't look that good ? Are you maybe confusing the pmdg with the ifly ?

One of the things i had to change was upping the texture from 1096 - 4096, made a little difference.

Make sure the global texture resolution is set to large ;-)

Say what ? I did not say this plane's Vc looks bad. On the contrary it looks great and that the poster maybe confused Vcs ?

Everything is on high , then I changed the texture to 4096 little better.
