Work for an airline and be a pilot or mechanic is the only way I know of - at least in the States.

Ask, simple as that. Otherwise airline IDs sure have helped, esp after 9/11. sig.gif

In the Caribbean security is quite slack, no one cares about us, considering your starting in Toronto, you might have some problems.

lol ahahhahaha that is true , i just want to experience takeoff from there. I am humbled by that power and the sounds are amazing to. but from the cockpit it would be nice to get a different experience from their on takeoff. What caribbean country are you from? Im in trinidad. WHen the pilots set takeofff trust arent they pushed back in their seats a little to? its cool how they keep normal control (theyre trained to i knw) cuz some people i see holding on and squirming , others sweating and closing their eyes, and i think im the only idiot grinning during the entire flight

Here is my method :First, do some research about the airline's policy. At worst, it will be totally forbidden by a country regulation (e.g in uk), or totally forbidden by the airline (Ryanair). In some better cases, it will be allowed if you know a crew member (EasyJet swiss), or, best case, it will be at the captain's discretion. Arriving in the plane, if you see the captain, you're lucky, ask him directly. Else, kindly ask the senior cabin crew member to see/visit the cockpit/talk to the pilots.Worst case, the sccm sends you to your seat, saying he/she will ask, and never does. Better cases : she/he actually asks, and you get to wait next to the right forward door. Once in there, on the ground, nothing's won. I recommend to ask the pilots about the airline's jumpseat policy. If it is above-mentionned best case, they will say so, and either start getting the JPS out, or find an excuse which relevancy will vary. "Sorry, not today", "The weather is too bad..", "It's night, you won't see anything" etc... Don't know about airlines in america, but in Europe, it is in most case possible to ask and succeed. My acceptance rate is 4 landings or take off out of 20 askings.

I flew with a friend of mine who is a captain at TUiFly, on the jumpseat in a 737-800 ARN-LEPA, LEPA-ARN a month and a half ago. That was the best moment of my life so far! Just beyond words, I still "live" on that memory/feeling, so flying as "captain" now in PMDG NGX is now twice as fun, as You might understand......Like, "I have realy been in here, inte the cockpit!!!", FOR REAL!!! God Lord, that trip was just Awsome!!! ...(And my friend doesnt have to ask twice if the chance ever comes up again...) Best RegardsPer A Ståhle

I have flew a few jumpseats with 1Time already. Usually flash my license to the pilots as we board and they invite me in or ask the stewardess, also giving her my license. FRED

If you are authorized to be in the jumpseat you already know the procedures to gain access. If you have to ask you aren't authorized to be up there anyway. Simple as that.

In the US, after 9/11, I believe the only persons allowed to ride jumpseat are crew members and FAA personnel. The captain has the final say when it comes to crew members riding up front. The company I work for would allow employees who were operations qualified to ride jumpseat but that policy went by the boards years ago.

In the US forget it.. but maybe in other countries if your hot and female maybe you have a chance.
