I need the file 'ASIA.CAB' from Disc 4. The file is corrupte on the disc, and is the only file that is corrupted. Could someone PLEASE give me this? I want my FS2004 back!

Mine shows 98 megs for that file.

Anyone doing that would be in violation of copyright.

It'd probably be easier just to buy another copy of FS9. On Amazon UK they're showing a new copy for GBP9.99 https://www.amazon.c...15318575&sr=1-1 As you're in the US, you'd probably get one much cheaper than that. Edit: even one for GBP8.49 - though with higher shipping charges.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Could be a small scratch or abrasion on the disk that would be amenable to polishing, and/or if your drive is getting on a bit it won't read it. Have you tried reading it in another, maybe a friend's, drive? If that works you could maybe copy the cab file. On the whole though, the sim is so cheap to buy now that Gavin's suggestion is probably the best way to go.

Yeah I moved my sim over to Win7 64bit a few weeks back and found the only FS9 CD I had was a scratched Disk4 that lives in my DVD tray. I found a company online that would send me a brand new FS9 packaged next day delivery for £12. Kinda glad I have the box again, will probably be a collectors item someday! Funny reading the min specs - Win 98 64mb Ram 450mhz CPU :)

I bought an extra copy of FS9 just in case disk 4 packs it in. Why is that a copyright violation? Just curious. JimCYWG

It's not... but someone sending the OP the requested file is.

There's a difference between speeding and committing a felony. I suppose that sending Chris the file might be a copyright violation, much the same as driving 0.03 MPH over the speed limit is a traffic violation. But c'mon, get real, there must be a couple hundred source files in a basic FS9 installation...providing somebody one scenery cab file out of hundreds doesn't even begin to enable a pirate/thief to run the software without paying for it. And I might add that virtually every add-on aircraft made--commercial and freeware--uses copied sections of copyrighted FS .air files whose use is also technically in violation of the EULA. Nearly all of us are speeding if just a little bit...but there's a difference between taking some latitude beyond the strict confines of a EULA and using the work of others without paying for it. I have yet to see a chest-beating proponent of absolute compliance that wasn't doing a little speeding himself. Stones, glass houses, and all that. @Chris341--did you get your problem solved?

I could go into why you're wrong about .air files and such and why handing someone that single file violates multiple copyrights... but I'm pretty certain you really don't care much about protecting intellectual property.

I will always stand against theft. Always.
you did not answer: how certain are you? and define theft.

Why do some people here think that if they lose or damage something they should be able to have a free replacement? Do they expect that if they lose or damage other possessions should some one should also provide a free replacement - if they crash their car for example?
