May 21, 201214 yr I've never been completely satisfied with a Captain Sim purchase. There are always little things wrong that are like the proverbial pea under a pile of mattresses. You think you should be able to sleep, but there it is, poking into you every time you fire up the sim. The CS757 fms is a pale imitation of the real thing and what you will get from Level D or PMDG. Not sure if the 767 is any better. But you get about half the number of pages in the CS bird, and most annoyingly, the FMS only rarely loads waypoints from sids/stars into the legs page. Even after five years on the market and continual updgrades, they have not fixed this. Not the biggest flaw, but a really annoying one when you are trying to set up a flight. The C130 vc is a work of art and it is a great plane to fly. However, the flight director does not work. For a while I thought that CS just slapped a vor gauge over the eight ball - but even that logic does not hold. You can't fly with it. Annoyhing, as this is the gauge you look at most. The 707 is also a great effort - but the engine modeling is way off from published nubmers so you can't use actual thrust tables to manage the engines (critical on the old jets) and, guess what, the flight directo also does not work. It is supposed to be a completely different system from the autopilot, but does not function that way at all. The 727 is also pretty to look at, but you have to search the net for a mod to make the engines work work against real world numbers, and, again, the flight director does not work properly either. Whoever said that CS is their first stop, and that PMDG/Wilco is their "fill in" publisher likely does not care about fidelty, systems and real simulation. The CS planes are really beautiful to look at. But if you want a plane where everything works the way it is supposed to, buy the MD11. it is an amaziing simulation of a plane with very different flows from the boeings. And since driving one boeing is a lot like driving another, that alone makes it worth exploring. Colin

I was thinking something more along the lines of Flight Attendant Sim since they take such great care of the cabin, galley and restrooms. Kidding aside, they have nice looking a/c but still not the systems accuracy and function of PMDG or an A2A creation. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
June 10, 201411 yr I would probably go with the CS 777, as the value for money is definitely greater. The model is now complete and is a doozy. It's perfect for VATSIM, or even just day-to-day use! B) "Do the right thing at the right time at the right place." Rehty77 - FlightSim done Technical
June 10, 201411 yr Thread revival!!! The CS T7 v1.3 is rather okay, but their freighter version requires an additional purchase. Considerung the combinded cost of the two CS titles and the system depth of the PMDG rendition, I kindly suggest waiting for a 9.99/24h CS sale - or start saving some money for the PMDG version instead! B) What happened to AVSIM

B) As we are nearing the summer, I suppose the 24h sale is also upon us? They seem to do it every half year? Ok, this is my wish list: 10 buck 777 + 10 buck -300ER just for the heck of it. I bought their external model, time to redeem myself. 10 buck for the interesting L-1011. That's it. If the PMDG -300ER releases earlier than this sale becomes apparent, I will ditch the CS 777 totally forever and just buy the L-1011 for 10 bucks instead. "euro"bucks that said. B) Yeah but to mitigate that the CS T7 comes comes with the 200ER variant (All Engines) The PMDG T7 doesn't even have that available right now. If one doesn't need complete prototypical behavior that you get with the PMDG T7, then the CS777 Ver 1.3 is a good buy, especially if you can get it on their 9.99 sale!!
