Transatlantic Flights

Featured Replies

Did a few searches and came up with nothing so I thought I'd post this up here and see what I got.Right now I'm parked at EGLL and planning a westbound flight, likely to KJFK. I knew this was outside the range of the 8/900, but I'm assuming it's easily attainable with the BBJ. Obviously the BBJ version hasn't been released yet and I haven't bought the 6/700 addition yet. So since this was out of the range I loaded up my favorite a/c of all time, the M11. It still is a great addon from PMDG, but man, after flying only NGX for months now, it just simply does not compare. The NGX has elevated the bar so high that no other addon in my library comes even close. Bittersweet. So, I still want to do my first transatlantic flight with LATLONGs NATs etc. However, what's the best option here. Should I just refuel via the FMC midflight? Maybe a dumb question but I didn't know if others on the forum had wanted to do these kinds of flights with the NGX. Lemme know what yall thinkThanks for the timeWilliamWilliam EzzellKATL

William, why don´t you take a quick stop on Reykjavik Island, and fill it up for the next hop. Ok, I know it´s not a short way........./ Leffe

Best part of simulation world is you can do what ever you want. If you want to simulate real world then limits of the aircraft are just that. You will have to flight plan for a stop between EGLL and KJFK to refuel as the real plane would have to. It is up to you how realistic you want to fly.Don

Go to Boston instead. If you fly 3/4 full payload, you can reach no problem, with reserves.

You'll find that the majority of transiting aircraft taking a technical stop in Iceland actually stop in Keflavik (BIKF), not Reykjavik. The local bar ("the blue lagoon") is a very popular stop. dance.gif

Should be fairly easy if you are light. tell the pax to go home and fly it ferry.

BKIF (Kef) or CYQX (Gander) are normal tech stops for aircraft crossing the NAT that can't make it non-stop. Been there, done that, bought the tee-shirt.Rich BollWichita KS

Hy,2days ago, i' would take a kjfk- lfpg with my 747 -8i pmdg, after 5minutes take off, i stop fsx coz i find the 747 cockpit very poor than 737 ngx. I'd follow your suggestions to make my transatlantic trip with my 737.Thanks for these ideas.

for a laugh I tried a transatlantic flight in the 800-WL and made it to JFK, just to see how far it could really go on a tank of fuel.

Without any passengers and cargo the 800 can make LHR - JFK pretty easily, considering both Norwegian and SAS's NG's have been delivered nonstop from BFI to either OSL or SVG.

Are you going to use warp factor or just sit there, that's the question? ;)

I'd land at Shannon and then go to New York. Worked for me.Now what about pacific crossings...

Lots of islands to stop at in the pacific. What about a RTW trip??
