December 30, 201114 yr Personally, I have no interest in populating an X-Plane world.Aren't you glad someone did in FSX?
December 30, 201114 yr I have no interest either about personally populating Xplane with buildings-but I will gladly pay for a 3rd party add on who will...it has nothing to do with FSX but personal time restraints and what I choose to do with my life. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 30, 201114 yr @Geofa, LA,Valid points are one thing, comparing ANY flight sim with add-on's & pay-ware scenery is another.I think you need to stick to FSX, were you already have what you want. December 30, 201114 yr . I am sticking with Xplane-but I'd sure like to get pass this attitude that if you point out any flaws in Xplane ( and there are many) that this somehow makes you an FSX drone and anti Xplane person. I'll say it again-I don't think this stance helps Xplane at all and is the final coffin nail that turns many away who are trying to form an opinion of the sim. If one really wants to make Xplane into a mainstream sim and not a nitch product I think this tact is extremely counterproductive. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
December 30, 201114 yr I think you need to stick to FSX, were you already have what you want.Yes and no. I don't think that the answer is so simple. Let's be honest: FSX is at the end of its lifetime. Most of the remaining bugs will never be solved and if you add more and more programs you won't gain any stability.IMHO it is very obvious that XPX is still deep in its beta phase. There are a lot of things to be done., That is what I expected and this what I got. IMHO the expactations for this beta release are unrealistic high. The main reason for this release was probably they had to earn some money to keep the ball moving. At the moment they have a slight advantage since they are in the market before their real competitor arrives. I don't think that FSX is their competitor. This is simply the same situation that we had a few years ago, when many people promised that they would never switch from FS9. It is always the same. The people paid a lot of money for their sceneries and planes and now they shall pay new ones. Another important factor was: Are we talking about FSX or FSX and the Acceleration pack?XPX contains a lot oif new features: New weather handling, new ground stucture, AI planes. While all of them are not finished and probably won't be finished without payware, they are also not optimised at this time. If you look into it, it is insane that the AI planes use the same logic as the real plane, but this was simply a quick hack, nothing more, nothing less.If XPX would stay the same as it is right now, they can't hope to win a lot of FSX users, but at the moment they have a new release every few days. This is far from stable. The real moment of truth will arrive when "MS Flight" appears on the market. This will be compared to the XPX version that is then in use. If XPX is then able to really show a believable scenery in different parts of the world MS Flight might have a problem, otherwise it will go down the drain and it will be bocked as a nice try, but nothing more. That card gets out at even the slightest of criticism, and it is simply not helping XPX. XPX needs 3rd party devs such as PMDG/ORBX/REX and so on. In order to get that, XPX needs to get out of the niche market. Richard 7950x3d | 32Gb 6000mHz RAM | 8Tb NVme | RTX 4090 | MSFS | P3D | XP12
December 30, 201114 yr Dismissing people's honest reactions I don't think solves anything. There's nothing to solve when those reactions are more knee-jerk than honest. As I said, my impression of the OP is that he decided he was going to dislike XP10 before his copy even arrived in the mail.
December 30, 201114 yr The main reason for this release was probably they had to earn some money to keep the ball moving.Don't subject unsuspecting customers thru a beta process with a shoddy, buggy, unpolished, incomplete product just because you didn't manage your financial affairs properly !A POOR EXCUSE IF I EVER SAW ONE.XPX needs 3rd party devs such as PMDG/ORBX/REX and so on. In order to get that, XPX needs to get out of the niche market.History has shown that 3rd party development, freeware and payware, whether it is aircraft, scenery, plugins, utilities or tools, has suffered TREMENDOUSLY from Laminar's attitude, practices and behaviour. Here's a thought :With the frequency of updates that X-plane continues to offer, what is to stop Laminar from changing, modifying or "updating" their X-plane program JUST TO SPITE OR CREATE PROBLEMS for a 3rd party developer it may have a disagreement with ? It can be an expensive proposition for the 3rd party to get on the wrong side of Laminar, whether justifiably or not ?
December 30, 201114 yr I find that very strange, the "stick to FSX, because you haven´t seen the light-and-glory of XPX"-attitude.Richard,The problem is that it's often the same guys that keep coming back over and over, using the same arguments. Funny thing, if you go over to the Flight forum and post anything negative over there, no one questions the barrage of insults and personal attacks going on. I called a guy a troll in this forum and my post was removed and I got a friendly warning. Do a search for the word troll at Avsim...

December 30, 201114 yr XPX a niche market... Actually I hope it stays that way, I don't give a crap about Flight I personally have had enough of MS.XPlane will continue to grow whether PDMG or Orbx did something or not. But for me, I would really like to see PMDG/ORBX in XP. There will, for me, be no switching from FSX until you can get some decent scenery and aircraft in XP/Flight. December 30, 201114 yr Richard,Unfortunately, neither of those two developers are openly planning software for XPX. On the other hand, have you had a look at http://www.ixeg.net/
