Another unknown is whether there will be a freely available SDK and the possibility to import freeware data that did not went through their marketplace pipe. Let's see...What really concerns me a bit is how much improvement went into flight physics. Another let's see. But everyone (with fast net access) will be able to tes fly it for free. So yes, I'm looking forward to FLIGHT. Batting%20Eyelashes.gif
The article in the link below mentions addon content will be made available by MS only. If that doesn't change in the future it will be a huge disappointment...http://flyawaysimulation.com/news/4317/microsoft-flight-behind-scenes-at-microsoft-studios/Regarding your second point I've read the flight models will be the most sophisticated the series have ever had;http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/121/1215651p1.html.

Wow, better than the PMDG 737NGX!!!

Wow, better than the PMDG 737NGX!!!
Which arrived five years after the release of FSX. Concerning Flight I seriously hope at some point 3d party content will be possible, although it is now known it isn't...

I'm going to blame who I've been blaming for the downfall of gaming for the past decade. Consoles. They started this DLC garbage and now every game is being produced with the same model. It's bad enough consoles destroyed realistic first person shooters outside of the Arma series.

-----------------------------------------------Of course I'm going to download it and 'fly it' out of pent-up curiosity. But...even as I sit here and type this, NOT from anticipation and/or conceptualized usage.... Curiosity, to see what the death of a franchise looks like in 2012........and then an un-install. I know that, for I will not prostitute myself to their income-seep strategy. Download, see what, and then free up the hard disk space....
Then again. Buzzing around a beautifully rendered Hawaii in your Stearman may be very enjoyable. And free. I'll surely give it more than one try, especially if flight dynamics are as sophisticated as they claim.

From the flyawaysim article: (http://flyawaysimula...rosoft-studios/)

There will be no scenery development kit and hence no user created content.

That effectively ends Microsoft Flight Simulator as we know it.

The marketplace will contain.... micro-transactions for vanity items and new liveries.

Ugh, so basically my collection of liveries I easily downloaded free for FSX would have a market value of $100's of dollars in Flight.

The game is built on an improved legacy engine

It appears those speculators that surmised it was using the same engine were pretty much correct.
including non-flat runways on simple airfields
That sounds like what we have available in FSX basically. No long tarmac/concrete runways with undulations like XPX?

I really don't understand why people are so disappointed.
People were hoping that Flight would carry the Microsoft Flight Simulator torch. Instead they got Pilot Wings. How can you not understand their disappointment?

I understand why they might be disappointed, I just thought there was no reason to be disappointed. Now that i read the post at flyaway, and now that it seems somewhat clear that the whole world won't be available for at least a good, long while, I can ascertain that Flight will not be my sim of choice. I'll probably go the Prepar3d route, or simply stay with FSX.

Wow, you fall for that marketing spiel every time, don't you? That's not a specific promise and can mean pretty much whatever the marketing team wants it to mean. For instance, a flight model that auto-corrects for pilot error to make it easier for casuals to fly could truthfully be called the most sophisticated flight modelling the series has ever had.

Well I am going to try and be optimistic, but this just doesn't sound like much fun... It seems like they tried this already with the missions in FSX and while they were okay for maybe a couple of minutes the fun completely wears off. I love loading up Cargo Pilot to give me an objective, loading up the sky with tons of aircraft via MyTraffic and flying my PMDG MD11 to places and different airports I have never seen or thought of.I put off buying XP10, because the 3rd party developers are few and far between but this just sounds terrible... Like somebody said I will at the very least try it out. I just cannot believe they would turn their backs on the 3rd party though, the only reason their product became as popular as it did was because of them, hopefully they see their err and don't go that route.

As far as I'm concerned I'm not falling at all. Ofcourse I am aware of the fact these are words fit for marketing. But as opposed to many others I'm inclined to take a positive approach. And I do believe they have improved on flightmodeling the past years. Because they didn't cover the whole world with scenery they may have had some spare time to do this :(
