Flight Video from CES

Featured Replies

It was useful sometimes when testing some buggy scenery and stuff but being too lazy to actually fly it in real time.Anyway with tiny area Flight will cover its not that mandatory.
On a sidenote: did you know that you can go to the map in FSX during flight and drag the plane icon to any spot you want to? Drop it on an airport and it will be on the runway of that airport, drop it anywhere else and it will be there at the same altitude as where you were when you went to the map. Handy feature! And often a lot quicker then slewing all over the country. :( I wonder if many people know this trick.

So basically this will be a really LOCKED down GAME in every sense of the word? NO SDK. Locked down to third party devs. Can't even slew... can't go supersonic. Can't have big jets... Everything goes through the FLIGHT APP STORE as a DLC? And due to the earth now being the size of the moon or smaller, all the planes that exists in the FLIGHT universe will be structurally constrained in a top-down manner to fit the criteria of "small island flying", "casual gaming", "coin collecting", "and milking DLC, flight store, etc"?
Because you can't slew or set a high tailwind in the demo/beta, does not mean there will not be jets added at a future time as an add-on. Again, there are hints in the interface that there will be jets and distant scenery locations added in the future.

I got a good laugh with "modifying the avionics" and turning on a panel light.
Actually, that is the avionics switch, not the lights switch.

Very well, my mistake. I'll pay more attention next time.Nonetheless, humorous to me.

Yeah I know that but I think that it will also reload everything which is not necessary when moving just short hop.
Funny how some people regard some functions (like slewing) as mandatory for a SIM while in fact they are nothing but cheats in a game
Slewing is very useful when beta testing airport scenery packages, but I understand what you mean.

There are far too many assumptions being made by folks who cannot see (yet), and some folks who can see what's actually present should take off their blinders...

What I cannot understand, is why there is still really still NO "Official Microsoft" statements on what MS Flight will really be , when it is released. The whole development period has been on of minimal release of firm technical information as to what FLIGHT will be.Vague promisses that it will not be a dissapointment to avid failthful Flight Simmers, coupled with suggestions that it will appeal to a wider audience, has left the consumer in complete confusion. Then to release a Beta, that is clearly so lacking, and not to accompany it with a explanation of any limitations imposed in the Beta, that would NOT be limitations in the released product, is just very surprising. Is FLIGHT just what we see in the BETA, or is it really more like FSX, with the BETA just being small "TEST" subset of the final product - ie A minimum subset necessary to Beta test the final product's functionality? Are Microosft, purposely trying to stir up the FS Community, and create some sort of alarming reaction, only to end up releasing what everyone hopes will be the next generation of Flight Sim, or have all the promises of a serious flying expereinec, just been misleading. ?When FLIGHT is finanlly released, and the Emporer walks down the steet, fully exposed to the public, will he be wearing GOLD, or will we all finally realise, that the Emporer has no clothes. Will this GREAT anticipation be better than the actual realization of the release ?If nothing else, the Beta is certainly getting NOTICED. !!

Well, if MS simply announced things, there wouldn't be so much talk on varous forums. :( Nothing to spread the news better then word of mouth. Even if it is negative. In fact, the more negative people are, the better things will look in the end. If everyone said MS Flight is awesome and it would be ok, that would be a disappointment. But if everyone is saying MS Flight is junk and it turns out ok, that's good! :( It's all a matter of perspective.

What if there are actually two betas, with the one being leaked being the less feature rich. Is it possible that they are that clever? :(

Hi Geoff,Yes. Big%20Grin.gifKind regards,

BTW in one of the CES videos, someone actually lands on one of the *other* Hawaiian islands. It is indeed "real", but very low resolution mesh and plain brown landclass. But he could actually land on it.Hope this helps,

Sorry, but I fail to understand how that video is "proof of the death of simulation."Care to elaborate, and share your reasoning?
