My First Forum “BANNED” ORBX

Featured Replies

The advantage of this forum is that we can post comparative shots between different publishers, we can discuss problems, weaknesses, compatability, faults and tweaks without rudeness or censorship. Don't let the bad apple rot the barrel? No one's ego is going to spoil my hobby.geoff

I reckon this whole thing has been examined, bisected, chewed over and frankly, done to death! To keep rehashing the same old stuff smacks of the FSX versus FLIGHT fiasco. If we don't stop picking this scab, it'll never get better! It would however, be interesting to hear of recent bans, although I suspect there won't be many of those any time soon.2c

The only Orbx purchase I regret is the Lancair. Had the briefest of tenures around PNW and AUS and now, I suspect, is consigned to a virtual hard drive grave. I never realised so many people didn't like it either, until I started reading this forum. I suspect the Orbx forums were probably cleansed of any criticism.I see they have another plane in development. I will be studiously avoiding it.

Obviously Stephen will pass his careful and diligent judgement on whether or not the time has come to close this thread , but I think it has been an important "outlet valve" for a lot of people who were either banned, or very upset by what happened. That said, your comments have made me reflect that I have probably repeated things too much and I will now definitely refrain from any more posts on this subject, but I do think others may still wish to vent spleens etc. and in the spirit of the set-up of this "Mutiny on the Bounty" forum, I personally think the thread should be kept alive, just my two cents.Hope you don't mind me saying this Ron, I have the greatest respect for you and your posts always put a smile on my face. I just worry that by closing down threads and limiting discussion, we may be going down the same road as a certain Melbourne-based developer?

Did I say anything about closing threads?.....No. If you think there is mileage in repeating the same old, same old then fine. I just don't believe it gets us anywhere. And that is my opinion, if I may be allowed one.Another 2cThis is getting expensive. :(

Perhaps not. Apologies if I misread. Whoops, I posted again. :(

There won't be censorship for responsible posting in this forum as long as the AVSIM ToS rules are followed and I have Tom's confidence, guidance and authority. That being said, each person has an imaginary line deep inside that we need to carefully back away from. All of us know when it is time to change our choices, to turn away from our own negative actions and reactions.

For me, that time has come. I have firmly decided to work towards making the best of things as they now are, not as they once were. That does not mean that my opinion of ORBX is restored to what it once was before all this happened, or that I will ever again let people like them take my business and generous goodwill for granted. Their abuse and hubris has destroyed any trust, respect or loyalty I once had. However, what it does mean, for me, is that I have travelled down the road of disgust and revulsion as far as I dare go. It is instead time for me to turn around and fully enjoy all the good things this wonderful hobby has brought me, including all the new, and renewed friendships of many of you here in this forum.

However, it is not up to me to tell someone else that they should not feel the way they do any longer, or that they should not express themselves freely and openly within the bounds of law, decency and the AVSIM ToS. Where each person is at on this road from ORBX is where they are at on their journey to learn how to cope with incredibly difficult people and unpleasant events while deeply offended. It is not an easy lesson to learn, and many never do. This thread will stay open as long as AVSIM wants it to. For us to go too much longer down this road, we risk twisting something that might be hard to straighten. We could get poisoned with the same kind of bitterness that we have all seen ruin others. It's not worth it.

We want this to be a beneficial forum for everyone who owns ORBX products, not just those who have been poorly treated. As for me, I want to fully live my life without cluttering it with what nasty things people have said, or done to me.Notwithstanding all that, what you feel like and what you write about, within reason and good taste, is up to you. However, if you don't mind a friendly suggestion, perhaps ask yourself just exactly when enough is enough, and why it's not a good time, right now, for you to move on and leave the bad stuff behind.

Thanks for reading this post.

Guys, I understand what's going on here BUT the bottom line FOR ME is the same....I will NOT let any company slapping me in the face to say "Oh! well, I'll take a slap or two and bi*** about it, but I'll keep buying since their products is good".....pffffNo matter what, the result is the same, you can all try to give your own explaintion about why you will keep buying from Orbx (personal choice or else) and this is FINE with me but like I said before the bottom line is the same FOR ME and the example below still stand...."It's like a battered woman (some Orbx customers) complaning about their husband or boyfriend (Orbx) mentally abusing her but at the same time defending him and staying with him because he's good with the childrens (scenery).....HELLO...... :("No hard feeling here with anyone not sharing my view on the matter, to each is own, this is my view on the subject and mine only, I don't care about how good Orbx's products are, there is no way I'll bi*** on this forum here about the way they are treating their customers and at the same time spend my money on their products.....

Nice post there steve. And Alain, though my view isn't the same as yours I can see where your coming from and I know a lot of people that feel somewhat the same way. (coming from a former orbx dev)
