So.... this topic is still alive! I wondered how everyone was over here so I decided to come back and see how things are going. Well... nothing much has changed. I am enjoying MS Flight and using VOR and approach charts (MS Flight finally made me learn about all that) and in all honesty I am glad I don't have to use Orbx-addons anymore. I still have it all installed but I don't use FSX at ALL anymore and as far as I am concerned I never will again neither. Well, maybe for the PMDG 737NGX but that one I always fly out of Orbx territory. I am wondering how good it will feel to uninstall and delete all that Orbx stuff... (Now does that say something about how I feel about Orbx or not, haha!!!) I am saving that moment for when I have a bad day, I think... :( Getting rid of all that stuff will surely make me feel better! :( (Yes, it's sad, I know...)
Hey Jeroen... once you delete that stuff, can I have it???? :(

Well....... I just followed Ron's link to the screenshots for Canberra (see other thread) and logged in .......to see the shot's ....and just for the fun of it decided to post a reply.Guess what it posted?! Well either there's a change of heart ....or by the time I go back it'll be deleted :( .In any case this section of the forum is far more useful because we can, have, will continue to? discuss things outside of the ORBX forum rules? Before I wax too lyrical we'll see how long my post lasts? Hardly a controversial one.... One word in fact "Excellent" ...because the shots and scenery were just that.If you go there now and see no post...... well it was there right after I posted it.Geoff

LOL Yoy guys are so funny.Well, in all honesty... I did give FSX another try last sunday. I wanted to do some VOR flying in FSX. But because I have always flown with GPS in FSX I didn't even know the magnificent RV7 only has one VOR gauge... and no DME... I also gave the Katana a try but that one also misses VOR essentials...In the meantime I noticed that FSX did run quite okay... not bad. But it looked a bit flat... I really missed the imho better graphics from Flight: the colors, the shadows, the mood, the fog, the haze, the everything, really... So after flying around for a few minutes I went back to Flight again.Mind you, I loved how the RV7 performed and handled and sounded... I really wish I could use it in MS Flight! :( But for NOW (!) I like what MS Flight offers, although I already posted elsewhere I am beginning to see boredom creeping in. My problem is however that I really don't feel like going back to FSX. Despite the better airplanes I have there it feels like going back in time...BTW Funny thing I noticed: when flying in FSX I turned off Track IR...! I got annoyed how it moved all the time and that I have to reset the default view every minute, hahaha! Never ever thought I would do that! I even actually thought that I wouldn't mind if Flight won't support Track IR because I like the rocksteady view... Yeah, I must be going nuts... :wink:BTW 2 I still haven't looked at the 737NGX tutorial #2 while I even printed it in glorious full color and have it binded... lying behind me, gathering dust while I do real world approaches in Flight... :wink:Don't really know what's happening here and why I don't want to fly in FSX... Flight certainly has its flaws and the interview with Howard from last week didn't make me happy... But somehow I have more FUN in Flight, even as it is now, then I can have in FSX. It's odd, I know...

Take no notice of him, he's Dutch. He'll be alright in a day or two. :(

You know what they say, first your eyesight goes, then your TrackIR heheJeroen is really losing it Just%20Kidding.gifBTW I really wish I could fly my Maule from Flight in FSX, such a fun plane, the handling has a lot of character.

Jeroen, The plane I did my instrument training IRL had only one VOR gauge, and a really iffy DME. The GNS 530 in the Baytower RV-7 can do both VOR and DME. Its very fun and challenging to use only one nav radio to switch between stations and mentally triangulate your position. My IRL plane is very much like the Baytower RV-7, it has only one Nav radio and a really good GPS with DME, but when I fly now IRL, I turn from the moving map page and just go "navigating" It's so much fun and keeps you sharp as a pilot. The Baytower RV7 is a masterpiece, I have been using it since the early betas, it's almost a crime not to keep that sim-plane in the air.Orbx scenery is really, really good, no need to delete it just because you had a bad experience with the people selling the stuff, you bought it, you paid for it, you should enjoy it.

Maybe I should give that a try then... I forgot the GPS probably simply shows the distance to the VOR station...? (Or is there a DME function I am missing...?) I am rather new to VOR so having two gauges is nice and easier, of course... but maybe I should give it a try. After reading that the new plane for MS Flight is a VC-less WO II plane, I am beginning to lose hope...[sing]"Torn between two lovers, feeling like fool Lovin' both of you is er... well, isn't breakin' all the rules[/sing]:(

I know all about "old dogs" and that "new tricks" bit... But! You really do need to use the very simple to operate quote system when you reply to a message. That is only way that I can tell the players apart without a scorecard (and if you want me to use a scorecard, please send me one!). :(

Tom -Way off topic, but...Best. Scorecard. Ever.Sorry for the thread hijack. Back, now, to your regular programming...

It just took me 1.5 hours to read through this entire thread, wow.I'm still a member of the Orbx Beta Team so please no comments directed at me is a positive or negative way about Orbx (I hate politics), just wanted to say hi to everyone and hope everyone is well. It was refreshing to see archie, alan2, Nyxx, Stephen and everyone else I have forgotten to name are still lurking somewhere on the interwebs! Like some of you, I miss the good old days, but it is what it is.I've been lurking around AVSIM more often as of late, and probably will more often as it's good to see you all again (your posts at least). Now if I could only repair the terrible first impression I gave Tom...Happy simming,Phil
