Space between glareshield and overhead panel.

Recommended Posts

Negative Sir ! Last 2 images are taken at the same point of view (person standing up in the cockpit). I put the view up using shift + enter in FSX...
sorry but when i look at the real photos, i see the engine bleed switches falling over the cruise altitude windowhigh enough that the magnetic compass is getting cutoff from the bottom edge of the overheadyour sim photos aren't even in the same angleit's not the same

As mentioned, this is just parallax error.Go to the center pedestal view and look up. Doesn't take much angle changing from there to produce something like this...

Here we go with some new comparison angles, and still we see that the height in the NGX is much greater that the one in real life !
Those new angles aren't the same angles as your RW shots. Give it a rest, will ya'? Talking%20Ear%20Off.gif

Josua, that last post contains images both from the sim, so you've essentially invalidated your argument. For those who believe there is an issue, google "parallax" among other visual oddities. More specifically here, the apparent distance between the glareshield and the overhead depends completely on your angle of viewing.Stand near a doorway and place the door at 45 degrees from being closed. Stand facing the doorway (perpendicular to the doorframe). You'll see that the apparent distance between the door and the frame is maybe a third of the total door width. Now, stand facing the doorway at the same angle as the door. You'll see that the apparent distance between the door and the frame is the entire width of the door.Welcome to the Three Dimensional World!!!

Ohh sigh...Where's that funny other red MS Paint wrong dimensions thread... From a whiles back. That one made me chuckle.Really, I'm pretty confident PMDG got it right. Even if they didn't it's such a negligible difference in my mind.

There is a FAA Airworthiness Directive 2009-16-07 for the boeing 737-Next Generation Airplanes to lower the Overhead panel due wire shafing against the dripshield above it. Maybe that's why you see different height's between the real airplane and the PMDG 737-NGX. here is the linkhttp://www.b737.org.uk/ad-2009-16-07.pdf But don't make a big deal out if it.

Surely this is easy to answer? we have quite a few RL 73x drivers in here, don't we? Tape measures out guys! PMDG can give you the dims of the sim plane, sorted, no? 40cms is 40cms. Surely the real measurement is from the top if the A/P to the very bottom edge of the O/H panel? And as has been said many times - who cares? you can't crash and die in the PMDG version either!

tape measure? are you serious?why can't we just enjoy the plane and stop worrying about the most nonessential, unimportant, nitpicking issues that can't be confirmed or denied sitting in front of a computer screenjeez, just drop this already

Not really no, Mitch..having a bit of a laugh for the very reason you give at the end of your post, and I give at the end of mine..I'm with you..who cares?

Ya'll are impossible...Really?Are there the proper amount of screw fasteners on the overhead? What about the breakers? Are we missing one? What about the positioning of the white crosses on the panel elements?By the way, the gap between the edge of the radio elements and the pedestal is actually off by 3 micrograms....I swear, I could sit some of you in the cockpit of a real aircraft and you'd tell me the dimensions are off. How many times does it have to be pointed out that PMDG was given access to the design files of the NG - the actual NG - for measurements. Somehow that falls on deaf ears.

Wow I can't believe how many people sit on the ground in their cockpits looking for stuff to nitpick about. In the end remember (as I have been so many times corrected on) it's a sim, it is never going to be perfect or come close to simulating what a true simulator can do. If a $70.00 NGX simulation could actually simulate the real bird well enough for pilot training then they would not even need these expensive simulators. Just be happy with what you have. If you can't be happy and you have deep pockets and want perfection then the only way to get it is buying an actual 737-800 simulator.

You'd be surprised.

I can't believe this thread has made a second page. My runway lights arn't the excactly the same size as the runway lights at the real heathrow airport, some of my controls are moved by using a mouse and I have no real people sat in the cabin. Am I really concerned if the space between the glareshield and overhead is the exact size. Reality check people, this is a addon, all being an excellent addon but an addon all the same for a 6 year old bit of software from a company that has turned it's back on it. Not a multi million pound aircraft or professional simulatior. I'm all for realism but when I take off from 3D rendered airport and sail into the 3D rendered sky in my 3D rendered plane, I think "Wow, it's amazing how a company has made this (insert your favourite addon here) look so good", not "Oh no, that measurement is a little short"
