February 4, 201214 yr I have been looking at this new release, and think this is a program I would certainly like to have.I am curious about something as I don't completely understand? There is mention and a link, for an add-on manager.I currently fly with FSG Mesh, UTX, GEX, and REX2.I do not currently have any add-on airports, or airplanes. Maybe someday soon I will, but not currently. Is this something I need, not really sure what this add-on manager is?Thanks, Don B
February 4, 201214 yr Is this something I need, not really sure what this add-on manager is?This addon manager is just the way they handle their scenery activation, buying, tweaks and all the stuff running outside of the FSX logics and systems. Sort of like Vistamare for other airports, like Aerosoft. You may look at it like a module that gets loaded upon FSX start and then activates if the scenery requests something. Not a bad thing, but a necessary one to enable some of the smartness e. g. GSX is showing.
February 4, 201214 yr Ok, sounds like I would need that add on manager as well, thanks for the info. Don B
February 4, 201214 yr Absolutely. It's mandatory if you want to run either GSX, XPOI or some scenery from FS DreamTeam. Don't worry, it doesn't eat fps or destroys FSX installations. :(
February 11, 201214 yr GSX 1.1 is out, in case the update feature didn't already tell that to you. http://www.fsdreamteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=5778.0
February 14, 201214 yr I ain't that impressed.Yes, it's quite nice in graphics department, sound department, but... what it adds in those departments, it lacks that in the jetway department. So, compared to it's predecessor, it's definitely a huge downside.Tested on KLAX. And also couldn't really find out why the default jetway (without AES) but with FSDT KLAX was disappearing at some angles. Also didn't completely dock with my NGX. Quite flawed if you ask me, especially for first and only try. I don't have AES.And now a bit pi..ed that after uninstall I see no more buildings at KLAX... FSDT, come on, get it right. And no, I didn't uninstall the Addon Manager or Couatl Engine.EDIT: Reinstalling the manager did the trick, but really...
February 14, 201214 yr GSX has worked great for me since day one. If you already have AES and fly in and out of the same payware airports then don't bother. However I love the fact ground services are available everywhere, and I tour a lot so a great value buy for me.Okay it's not perfect, but nothing ever is in FS and it does cover the whole world. The developer works hard to bugfix and improve features. A strong candidate for FS add-on of the year as far as I'm concerned.
