Too bad they don't have a follow me car taking you to the runway.
already asked and they will include this feature in a future update.

...or get EFB, you're still have to find the way yourself but at least you have ground charts for all airports in FSX plus LOTS of more goodies!
I have efb.But. I thought if gtx has a follow me car "from" the runway why not "to" the runway ? :-)

Oh, nice. Thanks !

If one cant find a runway, perhaps its time to try a train sim :-)
I have to agree with that. I can understand the follow me to help locate your gate, but once there, I cant understand the need for an escort to the runway.
Would be a nice one. I always kill UT2 when I see that 'my' gate is occupied. :( Maybe the menu could show that AI is already parking there or something.
It already does say if a gate is occupied in the parking menu.

That's pretty drastic. just ZAP the aircraft in your way. (Needs registered FSUIPC though).

From what I read about GSX, it does that already. Not tried it yet though -- tomorrow, maybe.RegardsPete

That's not a nice thing to say. Sometimes it isn't obvious which way you should go -- EHAM and LEMD are just two examples where the taxi route to the assigned runway can be pretty convoluted, especialy from some starting positions..Maybe you've only experienced pretty simple airport layouts?RegardsPete

Yes, that's my current solution. But it still means stopping now and then to refer to the EFB screen (in my cockpit above me to my left).Danial van Os's "FollowMe" had a taxi to runway facility. Shame it was discontinued. it also held waiting permission when crossing runways. He also added reserved gates (stopping AI use) when a gate was selected in the taxi to gate part. That was to be part of FollowMe2, never formally released but now given away, partly finished.RegardsPete

I posted that as a joke, but since you took it seriously..... Since recieving my commercial license in 1970, and 40 years of flying, I have never, let me repeat that, NEVER, see a 'follow me' truck leading a plane either to of from a runway. I cant think of a better way to lose your job than to request that, unless you have been hijacked and the authorities are leading you to a secure area. With all the resources available in the cockpit and radio, requesting a 4 wheel 'guide' because you couldnt find a runway would immediatly place you in the 'what the hell are you doing in a cockpit' catagory.

Seems like I should try GSX with AI on now. :( I've obviously missed that nice feature.

Another one I may have missed, Pete.On the 'to the rwy' feature. Looks reasonable to me, especially in the sim. If you start your flight at an unfamiliar airport and maybe don't want to look in the charts or programs like EFB, why not ask for Follow-Me? I don't know about low visibility operations, but maybe it's helpful there too. I mean, the guy in the car knows his way, right?I guess everybody will be able to find the right runway at smaller airports, but those major spots with the 20 parallel approaches may indeed be a good reason to scream 'where's that blinking car I've paid for?'. :( I mostly request the Follow-Me for the fun of following a Follow-Me. It just looks cool. I even take shortcuts to see how it does. :(

Maybe you couldn't see it because the flashing lights were so bright, and close. Just kidding.

:( :( :( B) :LMAO:I completely concur. I'm not a pilot, but seen so many videos, pictures and all, and I can never remember seeing any follow-me from or to the runway. "To" is, like... totally ridiculous.

Well, I bought it. I liked it so far but something strange happened in EDDF ( aerosoft). I landed and then called the follow me car.The car didn't turn up. I hit ctrl+12 and I saw "do you want to revoke the follow me car?" I thought the car was on its way but it still didn't turn up. After a few secs I saw a gsx message (top left) telling me to cut the engines. I went huh ?. I tried again and called the follow me car. The car turned up and I started following it. All of a sudden the car turned around and went the opposite direction LOL.maybe it got confused ?

It's a well known 'secret' that the drivers are usually related in some way to the airport management, and are drunks that cant get any other job, so they are given this one. Most dont even know they have a sign on the back of the vehicle, they are simply driving around trying to find a open door to the local bar. :-)

Sorry. It didn't come across that way.

How many times have you done that with no copilot, like most of us most of the time with home-built cockpits?I've only ever had problems following the correct taxiways to the runway threshold at Madrid and Schiphol. And they were soon learned. But the workload is high for a lone pilot in a full 737 cockpit, as i have, and delaying by stopping to refer to the taxiway charts isn't so much fun as following a followme. For that matter, I almost always find my own way to the designated gate. It's sometimes more fun using FollowMe, and who's against fun?Otherwise what's it all about?Pete

Well, I bought GSX and Fort Lauderdale today...and man, I had to (well..am TRYING TO...) download the stand alone Add On Manager, for I installed GSX and then installed Fort Lauderdale. Apparently, Fort Lauderdale's add on manager will not run GSX properly, as when trying to use GSX, I got a script error window telling me to download and install the stand alone version. That is where I am now...with the stand alone CRAWLING along from their server at only 4KBs!!!....Sheesh,....they must be making a ton of money...with the server STILL being slammed as I type this.....-------------------------Post Edit: I have both GSX and Fort Lauderdale installed now...and all I can say is; "FLIGHT what?, FLIGHT who?!?!?"....The immersion element is simply top notch! This is my first FSDREAM airport, and will not be my last. The detail is fantastic. I guess...KLAS is next.GSX is a winner, and will even get better with updates. Yes, I have some vehicles driving into structures on some FSX airports, but this is no 'deal breaker'. The animation, graphics, sound...is first rate. I love the easy gait of the animated push back walker/attendant...like he doesn't have a care in the world. Well...I guess not in sunny Fort Lauderdale today.... LOLOLOLOL!GSX...buy it, download it, install it. The formula for FLIGHT what? :)

No comments on the earlier posted Aerosoft forum post?I was interested in this, i do use AES but only at the 4 main airports i fly too, i would have liked something at the default airports but i don't want to support somebody who does not give credit were it is due. I never use the "follow me" car, too unrealistic...i prefer the completely realistic MS yellow arrows, it's at the point were i would swear i can see them when view real aircraft during taxi! :(

Me says it's worth the wait. But you are right, impressive to see full servers on that scale. Small business, not that small it seems. :(

That's the spirit. :( Must say that the model from GSX looks nice, but I have to check the night lighting again. I think I had some problems there on my first attempt.

I had one or two attempts where I had to place the request twice. I can't rule out that I was doing something wrong though, but only the second one gave me the green text line stating that the marshaller and folks are ready, plus the car is on its way.

I've found the answer from Umberto in the AS forums to be a nice read too. Both sides of a story make an interesting book, but I wouldn't render any of the posts more controversial then they should be. There's an intersecting set of features in both products, so a sort of competition was to be expected. I'm happy with both products, though I'm happy to see something which does not need additional credits. Personal impression.Nice review here. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/361500-aerosoft-aes-vs-fsdreamteam-gsx/page__view__findpost__p__2245620
