Thanks Francois - that's a very frank and candid statement. Clearly this whole mess is as painful and frustrating for you as it is for us. I hope you get it sorted PDQ and get underway with the CP relaunch and distribution.

Thanks Dick, hope so too.

I drafted a message for the MZV company to send out... as a renewal notice, NOT as an invoice. And apparently they are now promising the publisher that they will ONLY send out this letter, and no invoices and no invoice reminders.... lets see what happens next!

Here's what should go out to the customers now:

Your subscription to Computer Pilot Magazine is about to expire !

To continue receiving and enjoying another 6 issues of your favorite flight simulation magazine,

send in your CPM Renewal Notice today !

Dear Subscriber,

Of course you don't want to be flightsimming without your favorite magazine!

And although you can buy single, digital issues, you'll want the nice printed glossy in your mailbox every two months of course.

The New Computer Pilot Magazine now has over 50 experts writing articles about flight simulation, with a widening range of products on the market and an increasing number of topics too. And yes, since the change of ownership we have extended our reach via a brand new website, forums, Facebook pages, Twitter, a German sister magazine (Flight!) and 'active' emails. But let's face it, the printed magazine is what we are all so enthusiastic about.

With your Computer Pilot Magazine subscription comes a special access to our website too. When you REGISTER there as paying customer, you'll get the pdf version of the magazine for free, and also access to content NOT displayed on the public part of the site.

But we noticed your subscription is about to expire!

So if you want to continue receiving the world's #1 flightsim magazine and benefit from additional subscriber-only services, then PLEASE complete and return the Renewal Notice now, OR go to our website at www.computerpilot.com and renew on-line by selecting Renew Subscription there !

We are really looking forward extending your subscription and bringing you awesome flight simulator in-depth articles for many years to come!

Yours truly,

Marc Goergen,

Owner and CEO

... and the man's Blog

Hi, I'm a german speaking suscriber.

For CP. I've renewed for two years and the last paper CP I got was last year.

I'm also a suscriber of Flight

But I was unable to get any usable information about my two suscriptions from MZV.

The only thing they do very well is to send invoices and warnings.

I'am about to stop the two suscriptions just because it turns to einen heillosen Durcheinander.

Any idea about what is coming now?

I got what appeared to be an official 2nd Notice for what I assumed was a bill from MZV Direkt company. It seemed confusing and threatening.

I used to subscribe to Computer Pilot Magazine and liked it, but after this insideous looking bill (which it took me several days to figure out) I don't plan on ever subscribing again. Too bad they are getting off on the wrong foot. Yes, someone really dropped the ball on this.

OK, I guess I was a little harsh in my response. Now that I have read the complete post from Francois, I am in a more understanding mode. It's just too bad this billing situation had to happen in the first place.

MMmmm....now I haven't heard a dickybird from anyone. Can but hope, I suppose, have quite a long duration left on a two year subscription.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

MMmmm....now I haven't heard a dickybird from anyone. Can but hope, I suppose, have quite a long duration left on a two year subscription.

I'd drop them an email to remind them. I don't think all the records of existing subscribers made it across. If you didn't get the demands from MZV Direkt I'd guess they don't know about you. They didn't know about my subscription until I stuck my hand up.

If it would be up to me we would send all KNOWN subscribers an email asking them for their CORRECT data........ because obviously - as mentioned above - that did not all reach us.

And then there was the shady area between PC Aviator stopping and Maui Artwork starting.. and handing off new subscribers to MZV for administration. I have seen copies of checks and Paypal payments that I could not find in copies of the MZV subscriber list.

So what happens now?

HOPEFULLY what Pam and I instigated: i.e. making sure MZV does NOT send any more invoices, and most certainly NO reminders for late payments (that would make MY neck hair stand up too !). Instead they should send the letter as shown above..... together with some proper way of paying the subscription should you decide to renew.

What also should happen is that the first issue finally gets shipped !!!!! Actually, I have stopped work until this is done (partly because I am on vacation, partially because I want to see proof 'we' can handle the magazine production before sinking anymore of my precious time into it).

I know Marc WANTS to get it right...... and I know it is difficult for a number of reasons. Not being familiar with international business is one, not being familiar with the 'American Way' is another.

And maybe having stuck his neck out a little too far could be one too.

Lets hope he, with our support, can get things corrected and heading the right way again, so we can continue what we started 4 months ago and hopefully look back at all this with a smile in a few months. And shrug it off.

Same here. This whole mess has left a bad taste in my mouth. Monthly subscription, to bi-monthly, to nothing and no contact not to mention alot of time left on a two year subscription. At this moment in time, I will not support this periodical.

Like others i am now receiving letters or emails of non payment ? Computer Pilot had me convinced that I was in arrears and oved the 20 eu. I. Went as far as asking them when my suscription ended and I get no replies with the exception of a letter showing that they triied to. Contact me two times

I don 't forsee any new subscriptions coming their way until they can fix this mess.

Ron

Francois et al, I hope you get everything sorted out! I do not currently subscribe to CP though I do have a digital subscription to your competitor, PCP. If CP were to offer a similar arrangement and get the current mess sorted, I would gladly do so!

If you asked via [email protected], which is 'manned' by our US service lady Pam Yakubowski, you should have had a reply. You can also follow all news pertaining this and many other (more positive) things on our brand new website.

AND we have a user forum set up for months already. You're more than welcome to register there too and ask your questions...... or air your opinion.

I received a 2nd unpleasant notice this week as well wondering if it was going to be sent to a credit reporting service for something I did not order.....and I was p@ss@d. However, if this situation gets straightened out i'll give them another chance. I did like the magazine and the new owner appears candid and I think sincere. Sh*t happens.

For now we have a FREE digital copy (pdf format) for paying subscribers in addition to their printed mag. The digital copy is ALSO available as a single copy paid product from a number of webshops.

We are working on getting an iPad version of the magazin programmed as well, which then will be sold through the iStore (or whatever the Apple shops are called... I am new to iPads ;-) ).

Excellent news Francois. I trust there will be an announcement when the iPad version is available. I'll keep an eye out for it!

UPDATE:

I contacted Pamela as Francois suggested. My previous subscription was researched and I was reassured that I will receive the remaining issues on my previous subscription once shipping resumes. I'm looking forward to the problems with the new shipping company getting resolved. The customer service I received was excellent. I also look forward to supporting Computer Pilot and the new ownership in the future.

Regards,

Bob
