April 27, 201214 yr Wow, I am still going to hold off on this one as right now as it all seems too confusing. I want to know if I buy it off Simmarket right now, it is the latest and if it's not can I get it off Taxi2gate's site. Also I don't want to go in and delete any "broke" files, just update the installer.
April 27, 201214 yr Hi, OK, had some time to test KSTL from T2G with the below fixes and I must say that they did a very nice job. It is a welcomed addition to my stable of addon airports. Just keep in mind if you want nice FPS you will have to remove the following files from the FSX\SimMarket\.KSTL FSX\KSTL_FSX\Scenery folder. kstl-obj-grass.bgl kstl-obj-grass2.bgl kstl-obj-vehicules.bgl KSTL-OBJ-APP-LIGHTS.bgl KSTL-OBJ-AUTOGEN.bgl KSTL-OBJ-wigwags.bgl kstl-06-24.gl kstl-11-29.bgl kstl-12L-30R.bgl kstl-12R-30L.bgl Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck
April 28, 201214 yr Moderator IMO this quick bashing of the developer was uncalled for. First email and post on their message board, wait for a reply, and patches THEN if you hear nothing you can post your negative reviews. I am glad this developer didn't get scared away, there aren't many left who develop for FSX. What bashing are you referring to? A few guys who bought the airport let us know that the FPS were horrible. I wouldn't call it bashing but just letting everyone else know what their experience has been. Had they not posted the results, others, including me would have purchased it then been sorely disappointed in the performance. Frankly I am glad the ones who bought and shared their experience let us know. If they had never said anything the developer might not have even know people were having trouble and posted some fixes and now a patch. I thought the thread was pretty much in line and pretty civil compared to some of the threads I have seen regarding products that hit the market and didn't live up to the hype or performance expectations. If no one ever says anything, either good or bad about a product, how are we as consumers ever going to make informed purchase decisions? So, the fix to better performance is to simply remove some of the features of the airport? That doesn't strike anyone else as odd? Doesn't strike me as odd at all. ORBX does the same thing with the "Control Panel" that comes with each airport that allows you to turn off features of the airport to suite the performance you desire based on the equipment you have. In fact, FSX has a sliders in the scenery menu that you can adjust to turn off parts of the airports or area to make it perform better for those with different equipment who might not be able to have everything maxed out. The only thing is, some devs like FSDT make their sceneries so efficient that there isn't any reason to try and scale back the objects being displayed. Wow, I am still going to hold off on this one as right now as it all seems too confusing. So is the actual corrected update up on Simmarket, or if you buy it does the installer included the updated files now without a need for the update? Also, do you need to remove those files first then run the update, or run the update and then remove those files? Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 28, 201214 yr Moderator I went ahead and picked this up tonight. Not sure if I got the updated version or not since I have all the bgl's in the scenery folder that we were told to remove, but even with all those files in place, I tested with the NGX and no AI so the FPS wouldn't be skewed and I am getting pretty much 25 to 28 FPS on approach from both ends. I'll probably remove the volumetric grass anyway since its not really that visible anyway, even less visible at night, and get rid of those wig-wag since they are way too noticible during the day time and even worse at night. Overall it's not bad, not the greatest airport I have purchased but a bit better than ImagineSim but not as nice as what FSDT or FlyTampa do. I will say that the the blue taxiway lights need to go as well since they look horrible when your a mile or two out on final at night and the airport it light up with blue blobs. I did see a bgl for the taxiway lights and will go ahead and zap them as well. All in all, I would rate the scenery a 7 out of 10. I would give them a better score if they didn't use the gmax ground lights like TropicalSim used to do on some of their older sceneries like Sao Paulo, and did a better job blending the photoreal scenery on one edge of the airport which ends in a pretty noticible square when the GEX textures start again. April 29, 201214 yr Great news and thanks for all your efforts with the dev to get this straightened out Vincent. All set to buy with just one question still.........do the Jetways function??? Steve Corzine
April 29, 201214 yr Moderator The latest installer is dated 28 April and does not have the FPS problem The faulty updated installer is dated 27 April. Should work for all now. Well, my installer is dated April 27, so even though I get good FPS I guess I will download it again, uninstall my current version and reinstall the latest version. I did notice that I think its runway 30R or 30L, cant remember off the top of my head, has two different ILS freqs and two different feathers. One is correct and one is way off. From the dev: Hi all, All whose download the kstl after 28/04/2012 please download again with the new update... This guy, the developer, confuses me. He say's if you downloaded after April 28th then download again. Doesn't he mean if you downloaded before April 28th? Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 30, 201214 yr No they dont. DANG......I kinda suspected that though, don't really consider that a deal breaker and will still probably get it since it looks like NOBODY else is EVER gonna do KSTL :Waiting: . Thanks for the reply. Steve Corzine

May 3, 201214 yr OK, been a few days since the last update and I'm getting ready to purchase this but want to make sure I understand what I'm downloading. As I understand it now, the current download version has all the troublesome files removed and provides good FPS as delivered, however IF you want to try some of the stuff taken out you can get it from the links on post #67. Is this correct???? Thanks Steve Corzine
May 3, 201214 yr So there are Autogen Excludes outside of the Aiport and no moving Jetways + no AES? If thats correct then I think I'll pass. Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
May 3, 201214 yr Moderator So there are Autogen Excludes outside of the Aiport and no moving Jetways + no AES? If thats correct then I think I'll pass. There are some excludes in the Terrain folder. Are they for autogen? I dont know since I haven't decomplied them to see what they are.I am guessing they aren't for autogen though since there is autogen outside of the airports boundries and they included some autogen for the photoreal ground textures that come with it. If you dont want autogen then you could either just delete the autogen files that come with it and/or turn your autogen slider off. Yes, there are no moving jetways and it doesn't appear that AES is included for that airport in the latest release. Will AES come later, you would have to ask Cesar that question to see if he sent Oliver the required files. Passing on the airport due to no moving jetways is up to you. I guess it depends on how much you want a good looking scenery that has no moving jetways or will get them in the future via AES, or just still to the default KSTL that looks much worse but has jetways. Of course at some point BluePrint might make this airport but it will not have moving jetways either and never have AES support. So. my recommendation would be if moving jetways trump a good looking scenery, then you would be better off to skip this airport and stick with the default. The only problem is that the airport is good enough that FSDT or FlyTampa probably wouldn't make another version of it. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
