Just Flight DC3 VC

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have the Just Flight DC3 which I really enjoy flying, except for one very big issue, the VC! IMO it is just too perfect. It simply does not have the realism that so many planes these days seem to diplay. My question is... is there any freeware addon that anyone knows of that would successfully replace these textures. As an alternative, what would be involved in editing the textures? Is this something someone could do easily enough or am I asking a rarher silly question? Anyway, if one of the smart guys could help with this I'd be grateful, cheers.

Hi Howard,You could try downloading a free editing program like Paint.NET (not to be confused with MS Paint). It supports most file types so you could drag the DC-3's texture files for the VC into Paint.NET and use some smudging and other effects to try and 'age' the cockpit a little. :smile:I agree with you about the 'too clean' VC in this aircraft (apparantly Chock was saying their DC-6B is even worse for this). Sadly it comes down to poor texture work, using solid colours with little texture editing.I am hoping that Just Flight's forthcoming 737-200 won't suffer this; it's made by a different Developer, so hopefully not.Cheers.

HelloI know it is not a DC-3 but I really like this DC-2, much nicer VC and an interesting aircraft to flyhttp://home.hccnet.nl/r.cappers/dc2/

Thanks fellas. Sure MadDog, thanks. I remember seeing this before, but now having read the review and your suggestion I think I'll head over there and buy it! Cheers...

Hmmm, very unhappy at the moment. I bought the DC2 and while MadDog said, yes it is a great plane, the sound FX lead a lot to be desired. This is really ironic because it was after reading a review where the sound FX were said to be the aircraft's most redeeming quality, that convinced me to buy the aircraft. Sure, the sounds from the VC and exterior while starting up and taxiing are fine, once the plane gets to max speed in the air IMO the sound is just awful! Absolutely dreadful. The aircraft sounds as though it's been recorded on the ground somewhere down a toilet roll! To me it sounds more like a lawn mower than an aircraft. I have no doubt that they are the true recorded sounds, it's just perhaps the way it has been recorded that's at fault. Another major issue for me is that the sound is not dynamic. By that I mean when you move to an external view and move the camera around the aircraft, the sound is exactly the same, regardless of the position of the view. There appears to be just a single sound file in use, unlike many other aircraft where the sound would obviously be different at the rear of the aircraft than what it would be at the sides or the front. In fact the sound is so annoying I am now trying to find a way of replacing the sound file. I know it's incorrect, but for me it would be preferable if I could swap over the corresponding Just Flight DC3 sound file. I know, that is a dreadful thing to suggest, but one that I will have to try and accomplish to enable me to fly this, otherwise, great plane. I've searched through what I believe to be the correct sound folder, but so far I've been unable to locate the sound file in question. So if anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

Mmmm, I would not have recommended that DC-2 (I have it) as it is now a very old project.... started in maybe 2006 I believe. It has been updated but it still does not match or feel anything like today's contemporary addons for FSX.Did you get it from Flight 1 (they vend it too) as if so, you can get a refund within 30 days.Cheers.

Howard (Hi)In the sound folder of the DC2 (if you still have it) make a notepad file containing :[fltsim]alias=JF_Douglas_DC3_PWsound(So when you open the sound folder, you'll have a ''sound.cfg'', contain the above text, and only that)This should drag the dc3 sounds over to the dc2.Cheers.

Regards

Luke M

+1 for the MAAM DC-3, Howard.
