March 11, 201214 yr Well Chock,I´m in t he same place as you ... sent an message to CS asking for clarification about the external model buyers discount. You´re not alone! :(I've come to expect things like this at release of a Captain Sim product (when it's more than an external model only). They'll get you guys straightened out, though. But now they're doing "stage releases"?! First it was the block system... Then the external-only T7 and 73'. And now a "stage system".This part of the explanation really got me: http://www.captainsi...upport/cip.html No guarantees, as we all live in very fragile world. Step I release does not guarantee Step II release, and Step II release does not guarantee Step III release. All three releases are separate products with no promise or pre-payment. You pay for exactly what you get. Captain Sim has no record of any projects dropped after Step I release, but we want to be 100% honest saying that everything is possible. Even if we will drop a project at any Step there will be no refunds. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 11, 201214 yr I'm tired of these guys....I bought their 777 month ago and still today not a single news on a VC release or progress..... and they prefer to launch a 732instead of finishing their products...shame on them. They'll never see my money again.
March 11, 201214 yr Wow...this is an unbelievable way to do business. And to think that over the recent couple of years they (CS) were starting to make progress in the customer service department. It really is a shame, I have most of their releases and they are pretty well done on average. However, this type of disrespect for their customers in unacceptable. I may well have to eat the $15 i spent on the external model and spend my money elsewhere; I really hope it turns out that we are all jumping the gun here but unfortunately it is starting to smell bad from where I am standing.Cheers, Pete Pete Solov - Lake in the Hills 3CK and Schaumburg Regional 06CProud AOPA Member - PPL 2001Real World Piper Cherokee Pilot
March 11, 201214 yr Given the track record of Captain Sim I'm surprised that anyone is surprised at this.If there's one thing I've learned in the 12 years I've been using MSFS it's that one should never never NEVER buy an incomplete product on the promise that it will be completed at a later date and a free or discounted upgrade will be made available. Nick
March 11, 201214 yr Al,How much is that in US$?Or how many Quid?Unfinished product .. nice textures though!Do you have to pay more money after the base pack? .. just wondering how the pricing works on CS aircraft purchases in general.Hey Vonmar, I use this for exchange rates>>http://www.xe.com/ucc/It is pretty accurate30 Euro is roughly $40 USD or 25 GBP Al Stiff
March 11, 201214 yr I posted on the CS forums in relation to my query about having bought the things on the requisite dates to qualify for a discount (not that I think that should really matter), but not having the specific exe file the info states you actually need in order to install the discounted version.I've had a reply which says that my fears were unfounded and that this isn't the case, but I'm still not sure why it says that you do in fact have to have that file in order to install the discounted version on the product's info page. So I posted another question in an attempt to clarify the point and will see what reply I get. Whatever the case, I think the product info page needs clarification.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

They are upfront about it and you have a choice! They could have you wait until the whole thing is finished, and you won't see anything until it's done (Step III). You still have that option, just wait. But if you want what they have now, you can do that also. This gives the customer more options not less. They don't make you pay for the product again, like Airsimmers do. They don't charge full price to Beta test like X-Plane, you only pay for the current state of the product. March 11, 201214 yr Not sure where the confusion is that needs clarifying. Seems fairly clear that the upgrade covers purchases that were made both under the -100 exterior model and those that purchased later and got the -200 exterior model. The X00 annotation seems to cover whatever version you may have downloaded at the time. Having said that, I will not be purchasing anything until it is complete either, for the same reason I didn't get the exterior model. Fine for some, but I want a complete product. - Aaron

I have no issue with the stage release, although why would one buy a "stage" that is actually an unfinished "end product."As Chock has mentioned above, and as I had mentioned above, perhaps we are jumping the gun. Per Todd's post above, when he brought this issue above he received a rather unsatisactory response after which his posts were deleted. Whether or not you take issue with my verbage, the bottom line is that CS has a history of taking its customer base for granted. Is this really repsect? As I said..let's see what happens...hopefully we receive further clarification from our friends at captain sim.Cheers, Pete Pete Solov - Lake in the Hills 3CK and Schaumburg Regional 06CProud AOPA Member - PPL 2001Real World Piper Cherokee Pilot

The way I read it, if you bought the external 737-100 model before or after March 6th you get the discount, but if you bought the 200 before March 6th, you didn't? This doesn't make sense since it's the 200 being replaced with the base pack. I could see the 100 not having the discount, since that is an expansion to the base pack and is itself a separate product.. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d

I am not sure why they have chosen to present the information on their website in this manner. March 11, 201214 yr Is it just me or is it a kneejerk reaction by Captainsim over JF's new 737-200?That may well be the case, since the way it has been fired out with a rather confusing info page on their website does smack of rushing it out. Might just be a coincidence, but I think 'more haste and less speed' might have averted this confusion, because as it stands with that confusing info, I think it is now more likely, rather than less likely that people will look at JF's 737, which is indeed well worth a look by the way, check out the other FSX thread where I have done a bit of a mini review of it.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 11, 201214 yr Author Ok I bought the Cs737 and I think it's beautiful.Of course it's got some bugs but that I knew of.Support has been very responsive.I'm happy.
March 11, 201214 yr Is it just me or is it a kneejerk reaction by Captainsim over JF's new 737-200?Oh, a big and resounding YES!This is very simple thinking on Captain Sim's part; "JF have released now, and there is some cash floating around, and it would be nice to have some of that huh?"I hate this CS way of doing business; imagine awaiting a new car and being told "good news the chassis is ready but there is no engine or wheels yet .... but would you like to pay for the chassis now, and just keep it in your garage?".To be honest I thought the 727, 757 and 767 was a pretty, but unispiring addons, with poor sound and even poorer, unconvincing FDE ........ and this 'experimental' release just pushes me straight to MilViz's door.............
