Favorite Aircraft & Airport

Featured Replies

I'm just curious as to what some of your favorite aircraft are & what are your favorite airports? My favorite aircraft would have to be the 767. My favorite airports are KORD, KATL, KCLE, and KBOS. Would love to hear the opinions of some of the guys at PMDG.

My favourite aircraft in real life is without doubt the Boeing 747-400, with GE engines (Oh boy I love the sound of them so much!), and in the colors of KLM of course! My favourite FSX add-on aircraft is (obviously) the PMDG 737NGX. I mostly fly the -700WL.My favourite airports are EHAM, EHRD, EHGG, EHBK, EHKD (yeah I know lots of Dutch airports).

In the real world the MD-11 is my favourite aircraft. However I fly more with the NGX since it was released, however I still like to take the MD-11 for a nice flight sometimes. I think my favourite airport is LOIH (Hohenems) because it is my local airport. However PANC (Anchorage Int.) is also one of my favourite airports (okay, mainly because of the FedEx and UPS MD-11s there. :D )

EDDF, EDDM, EGLL, KJFK, KLAX, CYUL, TNCM and VHHH (X) share a special place in my heart. As for AC it's the Airbus A340-343X, the Boeing 747-430 and the Boeing 777-200LR. Short hoppers are the A320 with the new sharklets and the NG.

Concorde will always hold a special place with me. I grew up watching it fly in and out of Dulles (which would also happen to be my favorite airport).A close second, airports-wise, would be I16 (Kee Field - Pineville, WV). It's down in southeast West Virginia, and it's quite literally in a hole:http://maps.google.com/?ll=37.599952,-81.543016&spn=0.041482,0.055189&t=p&z=14I flew in there one random day in February 2007 with my college roommate. I grabbed a sectional, drew a 50nm ring (from Pulaski - PSK) and it was right near the edge and looked like a challenge, so off we went.I'll put it this way: we were 2nm away and couldn't see the field because of the terrain (from any angle), so we ended up flying over it, so we flipped around, kept I tight pattern, and went in.

Boeing 707 and arriving home after a trip to EIDW, also always had a soft spot for my A330-300 and LFMN as well though....Capt. Rónán O Cadhain.

Old Boeing 707, 727 and 737-200. Some airports of 'cidade maravilhosa': SBRJ (most beautiful and interesting approach and landing) and SBGL; Alaska's PANC and PADU.Old Boeing 707, 727 and 737-200. Airport - KMSPPlane - 757 (200 or 300)I love the old Bowling Shoe Northwest livery..wish Delta would do a tribute livery kinda like US Airways' America West Heritage.

GA Airports?AIY (Bader Field. First cross country flight at night. Seeing the Atlantic City casinos lit up at night was awesome!)AVP (I liked how one end of the runway slopes off like a 30 foot drop)ABE (Again cross country using route 78 into PA was a really memorable experience)MMU (Very nice airport for flight training and in very good condition)CDW (First airport I flew out of. Taxiways are a bit too cracked for me though)TTN1N7 (Think it has grass runways. Learned short field takeoffs there)FWN (Remind me of ORBX scenery)Bigger?SFO (Love the "Welcome to South San Fransisco" sign)EWR (Spent my college years working there)ATLMEM (FedEx portion. The terminals are kind of "dated")CLTINDDENPlanes:747777A340MD11A380767A330A300 (Can distinguish this plane by engine whine alone)737 300 and up (Also can distinguish this plane by engine alone. When you spool up and then pull the throttle back at low N1 (taxiing), there is a really specific type of sound it makes and PMDG nailed it)L1011Planes I dont miss:Any plane with those JTD8s (Think 727 and 737 100/200) Noice was a killer.DC9 10 and DC 9 30

There is an art . . . to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss

As my favorite aircraft go, I'd have to say the 737-700. It's a small-mid size airliner, elegant and modern. I also like the 767 and 787, they're both long ranged without being oversized. I'm not a big fan of massive aircraft like the T7, 747 or (ugh!) A380.I don't have a favorite airport, PTK comes to mind, as it's the only place I flew GA at.
