Random white flashing

Featured Replies

I sometimes get random white flashes during flights. Seems like some sort of strobe light or maybe the sun from behind, but it's odd because the light falls on everything in the VC... Can't be a strobe or beacon or the sun, it seems to me... I can fly for ages without those flashes and then suddenly I have them. It seems to happen mostly when the sun is behind me, but it can't be the sun... Is this some kind of bug maybe? Anyone else has this too?

Same here. I think i got the same issue in FSX with DX10 preview.

Probably a bug, Jeroen, it has been reported. It only seems to occur when the sun is behind you and illuminates the panel, is that it?Best regards.Luis

I see it periodically. At first I thought it was a lightning effect, but it also happens in clear skies.

+1.Same effect seen here...

Same here. Happens randomly.

Ok, it's a bug then. Glad I am not the only one who has this. Makes me wonder when the first update will be released... and what that update will contain...! It's been over a month now since Flight has been released, so er... it's about time for an update.

Yup, had it happen to me on many occasions. I was also foolish to believe it was a lightning during the thunderstorm :DCheers

I see it too and it surprises me everytime. I feel like Flight could be trying to simulate sunlight reflecting off a wing into the canopy or a strobe off a cloud, but then it occurs even when the conditions don't seem appropriate.I like the effect, but the parameters for it to occur need some fine tuning.

@Oracle427:It could very well be. If it is, i like it but i agree with you that sometimes conditions are just not right for it to occur. Whatever it is, i hope they fix it so that it works properly. And, am i the only one that misses thunders and lightnings so much? :( I can only imagine how cool would it look in Flight's engine that already provides us with an amazing atmosphere and lighting effects :PCheers

Could it be related to the lighthouses in various locations throughout the islands? I haven't seen this effect at all, but I have been pleasantly surprised by subtle lighting effects. I flew at 8k feet over Honolulu at 10PM and was surprised to see my Maule's wings bathed in a soft orange glow from the city below.

Have seen this also ! ( in the beta version too. )Fred.

Nope. I was seeing the flash 600 miles out to sea when I flew down to Johnston Atoll.

The flash only happens in the shaded part of the cockpit when there's both shade and direct sunlight. It happens in all aircraft, in all weather conditions that have sunlight, and even with moonlight at night. The wires in the Stearman will also flash if they're shaded. It's a pain in the tush.Hook
