April 10, 201214 yr of one of the easier USFS strips in northern Idaho. I have to say too, flying high and fast over any of the Orbx sceneries totally misses the point for purchasing them in the first place. This stuff is made for the low and slow flyer. Check out the detailed scenery. Land on a lake (water or frozen) and you'll find detiled scenery like hunting lodges and water front details waiting for you. Got a few (actually a lot) extra dollars?? The add-on airports are simply stunning This is the world of Cubs, single engine Cessnas and, of course, the BN2. Thanks for the video...I'm thinking of buying CRM and seeing airports like that are helping me to make up my mind! A question though, I'm interested in simulating real world ops as much as possible...does anyone have any information they can share on what type of aircraft the USFS would fly into strips like that, are they owned by USFS or are they 3rd party charters, what types of routes would they typically fly etc? April 10, 201214 yr I can't shed any real world light here at all. That's one of the advantages of flight simming. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
April 10, 201214 yr Maybe I need to revisit CRM and just spend a little more time exploring  :LMAO: :LMAO: Glad to hear you changed your mind about CRM. I was a little shocked when you said earlier that you thought it was baren. I think Ryan's photo above will sell a lot of CRM's. It has a lot of beautiful areas. I remember setting up a flight plan from Jackson Hole to Seattle (using FS Build) as soon as I got CRM. I was flying the iFly 737 NGX (the PMDG version had not been released yet). I was surprised the flight plan took me over the Teton mountains almost immediately and I thought for sure I was not going to clear them but I did. But the Teton's are beautiful as well as the area north of Boise Idaho (Coere d'Alene area). It's just a small diversion/change of pace from constantly flying in and around the beautiful areas around Seattle and into Canada. Best regards, Jim

Best regards, Jim I have started revisiting CRM Jim, I think I gave up on it a little prematurely. In fact I'm really looking forward to the imminent release of Orbx's Jackson Hole which they're currently working on, looks good. April 12, 201214 yr Got and absolutely love it. Yellowstone, the Tetons, craters, and Hells Canyon are all awesome in this scenery, plus it really is nice to have in combination with PNW. I can only imagine how amazing the entire U.S. would be in ORBX style. Really looking forward to SRM and Northern CA. Shane Gavin
April 12, 201214 yr After visiting this thread I have returned to CRM for some further flying. I'm glad I have! The Turbine Duke is perfect for this kind of flying too. Fast, for getting across the large spaces, and with a fantastically short TO and landing ability, can get in and out of the smaller airfields. April 12, 201214 yr Thanks to the 44% off sale, I now have PNW and I am truly amazed. I think CRM would be my next purchase, but I am biting my nails over the thought of SRM eventually being released. There was a preliminary map of SRM that I found over at the ORBX forums and my house is in the area covered! I know that SRM is far down on the release schedule after California, Alaska and the East Coast, but needless to say, I will be buying SRM the day it is released. No sale necessary!
April 12, 201214 yr Guys, NRM and CRM are great additions to the scenery library. Being a resident of Western Montana, I can say that the southern part of Montana with the Bitterroot mountains as well as country east of that location is pretty awesome. Buy CRM, you won't be sorry. It is good stuff. Scott KGPI
April 12, 201214 yr Purchased CRM about a week ago and have been loving it. I actually find more locations I want to explore than PNW. Hell, I was about ready to plan a vacation to Idaho after flying around different airports for a few hours. More beautiful work by Orbx. That said, I agree with the above that I will be instantly purchasing Northern California and Southern Rockies when they are released.
April 13, 201214 yr I wish they would stop their area expanding pace and concentrate on the 4-6 major airports of each region.
April 13, 201214 yr I wish they would stop their area expanding pace and concentrate on the 4-6 major airports of each region. They have stated they will not be doing major airports because their object library is better suited for regional and smaller fields. I am okay with this as long as their scenery plays nicely with airports from FSDT, FlyTampa, and FlightBeam. ORBX scenery is really best for lower, slower forms of flight than airliners anyways. April 27, 201214 yr I have purchased and enjoyed ORBX PNW, PFJ, and Tongass Fjords for over a year now and really loved the setting, especially for bush flying with planes like the Carenado C185, the Turbine Duke (ok not exactly 'bush'), the Aerosoft Katana 4x and many helicopters including the Dodo 206, Huey-X, Cera 222B and others (using the great HTR utility). I also started flying FS Economy jobs and purchased my first plane there, a Diamond Katana DA20-100 for pure fun. I have to say that I was reluctant to get CRM (and NRM) from ORBX because I thought they were 'boring' wasteland. Then came the 44% sale and decided to give it a shot, to compliment the PNW/PFJ sceneries as some FSE flights got me inside the NRM/CRM area. So I got both CRM & NRM. The Katana I bought in FSE was based at North Carolina so I had to cross the entire US to get it to the PNW area where I exclusively fly. After many flight hours (without AP!!) I entered the east boundaries of CRM, at the Yellowstone area... There my jaw dropped!! The topography of the area itself is amazing, awe inspiring! The sheer distances and sizes of the mountain ranges, the mountain and valley formations that form vast arcs, which show that something big, something inconceivable happened here many thousands years ago. The ORBX scenery really gives life to all these features. The ground textures are amazing, they seemed of better resolution/variation/coloring than PNW. The airstrips, the autogen, the mesh are all of exquisite quality, and all combined they give you the feeling that you are really there!! Combined with Shade, ENB, the amazing Katana 4x, AS2012 for weather and textures, and TrackIR this scenery gave me one of the greatest moments I ever had with FSX. It was really one of those moments that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts!! The nice thing is that I have barely scratched the surface of the thing. I have only flown over the Bridger National Forest range to the Afton Mun airport and some other airstrips nearby. Haven't yet been to Jackson Hole, Grand Teton Park or the Yellowstone Park... My personal opinion is that, for the price (44% off), the CRM package is worth for the Yellowstone area alone!!
April 27, 201214 yr Nice write up Nick - although I have owned the CRM for a while, I haven't flown it much...you have inspired me to revisit it! Cheers! Iain
