April 10, 201214 yr Author Thanks for all the tips, guys! I'm actually looking again at getting the PMDG Jetstream, but if I decide against that, I'll get the Caravan or Malibu. Thanks again! -Bram Osterhout
April 10, 201214 yr I realy wish they would update the Stationair Re: The Stationair 206: a lovely Carenado aircraft in it's time, but very old now and nowhere near the standard of the other Carenado aircraft here.
April 10, 201214 yr The JS41 is an excellent plane. You mentioned you wanted something operated by airlines, the C208 is operated by some airlines, but maybe wait till tmrw ( the 10th) and see the new C90 Carenado is bringing out. Lots of charter airlines use the C90. Best Lee
April 10, 201214 yr GPS is your standard GNS530 and GNS430 combo.. The G500 isn't bad, but it's not totally great either.. As a side note - Wow! Your screen shots are so crisp, how do you do that for such small screenshot? April 10, 201214 yr While we're on the topic, how is the Carenado 210? I've read a lot of negative comments about the FDE. I'm looking for a fairly fast GA plane that I can practice and sharpen my IFR skills. I can appreciate the high praise that the RealAir Duke gets but I'm not really interested in a twin. I have some other Carenado products and they are always beautiful but leave a bit to be desired on the sim FDE and avionics aspects.

I tend to ignore most negitive comments about the flight dynamics as most of them come from people who have never flown a plane, when i buy a plane ( i buy it on looks first ) if i like the way it flies then i keep it in my hanger as its personal preference at the end of the day and the 210 is a nice plane to fly in the sim imo :) -Paul-
April 10, 201214 yr I tend to ignore most negitive comments about the flight dynamics as most of them come from people who have never flown a plane Most of the complaints I have read come from either qualified Pilots or those who have some flying experience as a student. How else could you make a comparison? If you just want eye-candy which has handling qualities similar to a radio-controlled toy then great. Each to their own. I want a "flight simulator" to simulate flight as accurately as possible. I want an aircraft add-on to simulate the real aircraft I fly within the constraints of the FSX engine. This is possible thanks to developers like Real Air Simulations, Milviz and Just Flight (the Flying Club series). Adam PS: Am talking about General Aviation aircraft here as Carenado don't make big jets. Yet.
April 10, 201214 yr The C90 is coming out today? Yup, they said they were aiming for April 10 a couple of days ago. Lee
April 10, 201214 yr I personally think the 210 is one of the better flying Carenado models. Caravan too. The weakness in most other Carenado FDE that I personally find is that the pitch axis has too much instability, leading to a plane that flits about on the pitch axis, like it's way too light. I usually tweak the Pitch stability value in the [Flight Tuning] section of each aircraft.cfg to 'stiffen' their planes up a bit on the pitch axis. I had to do this with the Malibu and the C340. I've not felt the need to touch the 210 and C208 models. April 10, 201214 yr What time zone is Carenado based on? I'm on the East coast of Australia (GMT+10) and its 11:15 PM.... on the 10th. Thanks, Kevin L
April 10, 201214 yr What time zone is Carenado based on? I'm on the East coast of Australia (GMT+10) and its 11:15 PM.... on the 10th. They're based somewhere in South (Latin) America I believe, so east to west time zones should be something similar to North American zones. April 10, 201214 yr Looks like the C90 will be released tomorrow for me then. Thanks for the quick reply. Thanks, Kevin L
April 10, 201214 yr Most of the complaints I have read come from either qualified Pilots or those who have some flying experience as a student. How else could you make a comparison? Very vey true Adam but knowing who is the arm chair pilot complaining and who is the real pilot who is rated for a type of aircraft providing valuable input in to the way the aircraft handles is not always easy on the internet and the main reason why i dont pay to much attention to those comments. When i buy bigger aircraft i tend to go for systems modelled then the eye candy :) Im a get in and fly type simmer and not worry to much about the rest of it for GA aircraft :) -Paul-
