I am forced to do the intro missions again...?

Featured Replies

What's up? I start MS Flight and instead of the map I am flying the Icon, doing the first mission! I can't skip it, I have to end it and now I have to do that second mission too??? How is that possible? The weird thing is that my settings are saved and after completing that first mission, the points were added to my existing total and I am still at the Level where I was...! Anybody else experienced this? I heard about savegames being reset or whatever, but my data is saved, I just have to redo those freakin' missions again...!

???

Checkride.... Airline Pilot's terror!!!!!

But, skipping the stupid joke... there are other complaining about something with the saved settings...

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

Yes I did, as a matter of fact earlier today. (This is a BUG, reported to the beta but I think it is even more serious than I thought)

Luckily I had a saved backup from yesterday evening.

Jeroen: Do you have a backup?

First make a backup of your current career files.

You can also try this: Career Folder -> Properties -> Previous Versions To try to recover your career files from a previous date.

Unfortunately I don’t really know in which career files the Intro missions are stored. So I can’t give you advice as to which ones to replace.

Suggestion to all: Make a backup of all creer files every day. Keep at least 2-3 backups.

Well, I finished that party mission again. Utterly annoying not being able to get to the map and having to play that one again. I checked my profile after completing it (the openings missions brought me a bit closer to level 15, hahaha!) and EVERYTHING is saved but only the missions and challenges themselves are reset and locked again... while my awards still show I did some of them! How odd. And what a mess. But hey, it's no problem at all because, as I said elsewhere, I don't care about awards and what not. It sucks a little that I can't play some landing missions now without having to do the other ones first... so bye bye to the missions completely now. No way I am going to do those again. I just made a backup of the career folder but ONLY to avoid having to fly those two mandatory opening missions again...!

I can imagine that if you ARE into missions and challenges, that something like this sucks big time. Luckily I am only annoyed by the 5 minutes lost to do those openings missions again...

Er... Prevous versions...? Is that some sort of Windows option to recover old files...?

EDIT

LOL This is funny... I never heard of that Previous version option...! How cool is that!!! Haha! I just reverted the folder to a version from last monday and now suddenly the missions and challenges are alright again!

But what is really odd is that the OLD files, from to days back, give me MORE XP and a lot higher total times etc. So it is REALLY messed up: some stuff is erased and other stuff is kept. Very weird... The aircraft data on the profile page is partially rest and partially kept. Weird stuff...

Anyway, it doesn't matter, I am using the data from two days ago now and I can fly every mission (if I want to) and have a higher XP... So if you also get into problems with your savegame and you don't have a backup, use that Previous version option! Thanks for the tip, Ramon!

Hi,

..."Anybody else experienced this?"...

This happened to me when I deleted my "Flight.cfg".

I was screwing around trying to eliminate a reference to an old video card and mainly just checking to see what would happen. I forgot where, but it was suggested that everything in the CFG file be deleted except the reference to GFWL and all would be okay.

I don't know if any of this is applicable to you but maybe it's part of a clue. It seems that a few other things were reset in my situation such as number of airports landed at but I still was credited with the achievement or whatever it's called.

Jim F.

Any Flight session you can walk away from is a good Flight session.

This happened to me when I deleted my "Flight.cfg".

If you want to "reset" the flight.cfg file and NOT lose all your missions and stats.

Edit the flight.cfg file and remove everything except

[GFWL]

ProfileMode=1

(Developer tip during Beta, but I have not tried it.)

As always: First make a backup of the file.

Happened to me. It didn't recognize that I had finished the missions and challenges I did indeed finish even though I still had the awards and XP from those missions and challenges. Slowly I've been redoing them and making sure I keep a backup. Annoying.

This happened to me also.

Most of my missions are locked and I will have to redo all of them again-if I want to.

This is very annoying.

I've reached level 20 and had 37 awards before the "update". After the update I have 20 awards.

As with op I can't move on to some things without redoing others

Statistics are very important or there wouldn't be any. Everybody rightly talks about flight characteristics, graphics gaemplay etc

but if a game can't keep track of itself it is fatally flawed.

It would be terrible if this game fails because of this.

Don't underestimate how important this aspect of the game is.

There already are many people who have put this game on hold or who have just walked away because of this.

I know many people will rush to defend the devs and that's fine but just because you want to be tolerant doesn't make a flawed experience any better.

I really hope this business with the Aerocaches and our above problems with career stats are rectified asap.

i7-920@3360, Asus P6T Deluxe, 6gb Corsair 1600 ram,

MSI GTX460, PC Power+Cooling 610wt psu, etc.

I seriously doubt that would be the case, I would have to say you and others that have experienced this, have a very valid complaint here. I have logged around 60 hours or so now, and done all the missions, most of the challenges and a lot of other things. If I launched Flight one day to find everything has been reset, I would not be a happy camper.

Now due to seeing posts/threads like this, I do try to take precaution and backup my player folders on a regular basis. But if I had to basically have a do-over, I would not like that at all.

Let's hope this issue is getting the attention it deserves and they get it fixed where this does not happen.

Hm, well, I fail to see the utter importance of statistics and awards... I never look at them. I only looked at them yesterday to figure out if something had been changed. It was the first time I looked at that profile. I use Flight to fly and although I did a lot of the missions and challenges when I just had the game, I don't really care if they would have been lost now. It would be a pity only because I might want to do a specific mission once more but I wouldn't go through the trouble of doing them all again just to unlock a specific mission. Or just to see them all unlocked. I get no satisfaction from looking at a row of unlocked nonsense awards.

I actually hate rewards and things like that in a game. In the past (years and years ago) I would go to extremes to get every possible reward in the games I played but there always were a few I couldn't finish for whatever reason, leaving me with a bad feeling... And I also did NOT enjoy the actual game: I just played everything to proceed. I see now that for ME that's no fun at all and not how I want to play games so I stopped diong that quite a few years ago. So again, if I would lose all my rewards and progress, I wouldn't care because all I want to do is have fun flying. The only thing that sucks is when I can't fly because I HAVE to do two missions all over again! Luckily I now have a backup and I know how to restore previous version.

Since I can play the game perfectly without minding the missions and all, how important are they really? Not important at all. They only would be important if the missions would unlock scenery and planes and luckily this is not the case.

  • 2 months later...

Just happened to me.

Poof!!! All my missions and challenges are gone, and it wants me to start over from scratch. This is, I believe the third time now I have lost it all for one reason or other, and I ain't doing it all again.

I think it's ridiculous how you have to keep a daily backup to avoid a stupid bug from beta....come on, Microsoft, you're better than this.

Hmmm, that reminds me... I need to backup my career again.

Is that the "career.spb" file under something like:

C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Flight\Players\B94562FEA2FB9428\Career

It's about a 180kb file.

Not going to be happy if I have to start over...

Cheers
