Blackbox Simulations Airbus X'treme "Prologue"

Featured Replies

In my opinion the price is way too aggressive based on the Facebook shots I'm seeing of the VC. Not overly impressive by today's standards.

I think part of the problem there is that the real A320 cockpit main panel itself is actually a bit visually bland, so even if someone gets it spot on in FSX, it is always going to look a bit 'meh'. I thought that the first time I sat in a real one, the only really interesting looking bits were the pedestal and the overhead. As cool as the sidestick controller is in a FBW Airbus is, it does still look like something you plug into a Binatone TV game.

Yeah, don't get me wrong here, that looks very nicely modeled, but we already have, and have had for quite a few years, pretty Airbus models available, hell, I could make a pretty model of it myself since I do actually train people how to use 3DSMax as part of my job LOL. But what certainly I, and nobody else it seems, could pull off, was modeling the systems and the flight envelope, so a pretty model alone brings nothing very new to the table.

I don't think it will be, but to be honest, I couldn't really care less whether FSL's 3D modeling turns out mediocre; what I'm interested in, is all the systems they are having a crack at. That's what is the exciting prospect, and so the old song of 'buy the simple one and eventually we'll offer a really complex one' sets off my alarm bells, as I'm sure it does for many others who have been in on this saga since 2006.

As I say, I wish BBS well with their endeavour, but we all know that it is a long hard road they are walking along, although they can take heart in the fact that everyone who has awaited a decent A320 for FS for so long, will be pulling for them to make it all the way, and if they do, I'd buy it just because they had done so, even if FSL had already managed it.

Wouldn't it be sensible for those who want the Extreme version to wait until September rather than spending money up front on the Prologue - "there's many a slip between cup and lip"?

Not sure but I have the feeling we all are a bit skeptic about this:Maybe because of PSS history behind black box:Maybe because of their 737 ? I'm not sure I'd buy their a320.What if they relese this plane and it is full of bugs and they disappear laughing all their way to the bank ? I would buy lefteris's a320 in a heartbeat.I know that if the plane has bugs he will not ditch his customers unlike PSS.

My 0.2

When I read about features like "fully modeled WX radar", I take other statements about things being "fully modeled" with a big grain of salt.

While it may be true about the real A320 cockpit being a bit bland, that is not what turns me off. It's their interpretation of it. Aerosoft models that same aircraft and visually they've done it to exquisite detail in comparison to what I'm seeing here. Systems may be another story, and that has yet to be told, but visually it looks sub par to me and really has nothing to do with the source material. As someone said before, it looks a bit flat and lifeless which for me is pretty spot on. The textures themselves look a bit plastic and lack the definition of its real world counterpart.

Flat and lifeless? I'm not seeing it. http://www.facebook....&type=3

Of course we could argue our opinions all day. Maybe those Facebook pictures helped the case that calling this VC ugly is bologna. Or it could prove that me saying "it's not ugly" is bologna. :)

Ever saw that Concorde prototype with the sidesticks by the way?

Yes, flat and lifeless. That shot alone would turn me off. Just my opinion in comparison with what has already been done in the Aerosoft version. Again, I'm not referring to systems, merely what I know can be done with the visuals.

- Aaron

I would trade a lot of the Aerosoft's amazing optics for some systems to be honest. So that's where the BB may benefit and of course competes with an upcoming FSL Bus.

Maybe I'm spoiled by some of the premier developers, but why can't we have both? We know it can be done, so when a company is charging nearly $100 for a product, I'm disappointed if they aren't both present. Sacrifice of either should result in a price that reflects it in my opinion.

- Aaron

but why can't we have both?

Because it's an Airbus. :P Seriously, I hear you and that full package price is a punch in the gut, rendering the preview release very important. Otherwise the folks won't establish some faith.

With the final (full) thing being some months out, we shouldn't judge the screens as final though.

Hmmm..... Think I will wait for FSL. I skipped on the Ifly 737 and waited on the NGX and was rewarded. Leftris said November so that is not too far from Sept.

Same here, the FSL airbus looks the most promising!

Second I don't trust that kind of sale strategy, I've seen it before. No, not for me.

VC textures I hope will be better on the Airbus X Extended as they said they are improving the quality slightly on an already good vc!!
