EZCA for NGX (mostly)

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

After reading this, I've FINALLY decided to take the plunge into EZCA.

I've got a question. Did PMDG ever do camera profiles for the 737NGX and the 747X V1.0? If they did, where can I find those files? I like what EZCA does but as for setting up my own camera profiles, that's another story.

I have a profile (camera and effects) for the NGX that I can share if anyone is interested. I'm at the church right now, but when I get home in the afternoon, I'll take a screenshot of my cameras, and post them, so anyone interested can indicate. You can also use that for the 747 (with a few mods I believe).

Cheers

I'd like to see them. I'm going back into EZCA after getting Track IR 5. Last time I was a bit underwhelmed. Hopefully this time, I'll be able to see what others have in regarding the praise EZCA has gotten.

I had the same issue until I discovered this trick:

Set FSX simulation rate to 1/4 speed, then go to edit, press the arrow keys as usual, only this time, it'll move at 1/4 speed. push the edit button again as soon as you get to the best position. Even though it continues moving after you've pressed the edit button, it will save the point at which you pressed the button. To verify this, go to another camera, and back to one you were editing, and you'll see that the point you chose was saved.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much, Smasher77th!!!!!

You "save my life"!!! hehehehehe

Works perfectly.

I would also be interested in seeing what you've got. Thanks for the offer!

I decided to make a short video instead of the screenshots. I'm uploading to youtube at the moment. I'll post the link once it's done.

Here is the video. It's rough, sound is off so be warned:

If anyone likes the cameras, send me a pm (I forgot to mention that I have the wingview effects only (no special cameras), which are just slightly different from the cockpit effects. Someone uploaded that on this forum sometime ago, so whoever that is, I give him credit.

I've posted the same in the EZCA forum but didn't get a reply yet, so I come to the busiest FSX forum to improve my odds...

I'd just like to know how exactly EZCA works as I'm thinking of getting it. I've already read the manual a couple of times but I seem to miss a few basic things.

I understand that I can setup various VC cameras (am not really interested for plane or world cameras at least not before I master the VC ones), but I wouldn't really like to use too many of them, since cycling from 1 to let's say 8 might take some considerable time. So my question is if it is possible from each cam's position to move the view and zoom all around, similar to the default FSX space+mouse effect.

To make it more clear I'd like to have the standard captain's camera from where I will do most of the work and then have a camera for FO, overhead and maybe pedestal. Is it possible to use these cameras as "central locations" from which I will then pan and zoom around to the area around each camera?

In addition, do the cameras need to be setup for each plane and/or livery individually or are they global?

At least for now I am not really willing to spend too much time customising cameras and effects (which I honestly do not understand at all) as I seem to have found my way with the default ones. It's the effects I'm mostly interested in. As I already said RTFM replies make no sence as I've already read it.

Thanks,

George

Hi,

No doubt it is a great program, but I tried to install it several times, using the help of every tutorial.

It just won't work.

It is one of the most frustrating programs I have ever had.

It is nog working bad or halfway. It just won't work.

There is a great video tutorial. You can see, step by step, what to do. So I followed every single step.

But working? forget it. Happily for me I'm not the only one who has this problem.

So I gave up and I'm waiting for the version 2.0. Maybe that will work.

Good luck with it. :Nail Biting:

Guys, I beg your forgivness at all the screaming I'm about to do....

Oh My Gosh!!!!!!

I've bought EZCA, installed it, and I've got the hang of making my own camera profiles, after reading the manual.

HOW ON EARTH DID I EVER FLY WITHOUT THIS!!!!

The things this software can do are ABSOLUTELY amazing! I can make so much more use of the 3D cockpit and it is wonderful. It feels so immersive, its like wow. A free pivot mode would be nice for when I'm in cruise and just feel to look around but I suppoose I could disable it in cruise and then put it back on when I get busy, lower down.

I'm sorry to be gushing but you guys have been talking about EZCA for ages on this board and I just stubbornly refused to do anything different, until now. I was going to mess with the 747 and MD11 but I think I'll only do a camera profile for the MD11 and wait until the 747 V2 comes out.

There was a tip given by Smasher77th about reducing the sim speed to get more precise movement for the camera and I found that worked brilliantly for me. Thanks Smasher!

Springbok, there is a very good profile for the MD11 prepared by the guys from Angle of Attack training, it works really well. I share your enthusiasm, ezca is great!
