EZCA for NGX (mostly)

Featured Replies

I've posted the same in the EZCA forum but didn't get a reply yet, so I come to the busiest FSX forum to improve my odds...

I'd just like to know how exactly EZCA works as I'm thinking of getting it. I've already read the manual a couple of times but I seem to miss a few basic things.

I understand that I can setup various VC cameras (am not really interested for plane or world cameras at least not before I master the VC ones), but I wouldn't really like to use too many of them, since cycling from 1 to let's say 8 might take some considerable time. So my question is if it is possible from each cam's position to move the view and zoom all around, similar to the default FSX space+mouse effect.

To make it more clear I'd like to have the standard captain's camera from where I will do most of the work and then have a camera for FO, overhead and maybe pedestal. Is it possible to use these cameras as "central locations" from which I will then pan and zoom around to the area around each camera?

In addition, do the cameras need to be setup for each plane and/or livery individually or are they global?

At least for now I am not really willing to spend too much time customising cameras and effects (which I honestly do not understand at all) as I seem to have found my way with the default ones. It's the effects I'm mostly interested in. As I already said RTFM replies make no sence as I've already read it.

Thanks,

George

Yea you can do what you describe.

it's for each plane not the individual liveries

For the effects it's a try and experiment thing.the manual isn't very clear...I think the authors first language isn't English

I actually got the NGX profile made by the Angle of Attack training guys for their videos, it works really well.

I use the viewing hat on my yoke for the main views, i flick the switch to the left and i move to my preferred captains view, flick up and i am looking at the overhead panel, etc.

I also configured several other view with the numbers on the keyboard, the effects are amazing, it reads the weather and adds the "bumps" of turbulence and on the ground it gives you a different set of effects.

I highly recommend it.

I love it, brings the ease of 2d panels but you still retain the VC environment.

Hey George, take Will's advice on the Angle of Attack thing. They have a very clear video on it and i can assure you you won't fly without it. I know what you mean by the manuals cause there never clear for me to - i like examples, and the number pad, it won't take long and you'll just know what shot you want to go to .

Thanks for the reply guys as I really don't wanna throw away money on things I don't like to use!

It's on the pocket-draining list together with QW's Bae146, a few airports and -of course- the new PMDG babies...

Its awesome may be a bit hard to setup at first but you should be fine after a few tuts on the web.

It's a great bit of software. I now don't use Track IR in the cockpit of the NGX because EZCA does such a good job. I created a camera that basically starts smack bang in the middle of the cockpit and zoom and pan to various parts of the cockpit as and when needed. I have created another to zoom straight to the FMC when i use that. It's worth trying a few settings such as cinema, or any of the others to find out what suits you if that makes sense.

Its awesome may be a bit hard to setup at first but you should be fine after a few tuts on the web.

Richard;

speaking of setup, let me take a question.

I've been finding some difficulty in adjusting the height of the camera, especially in relation to the NGX HUGS. Or is too high or too low. Sometimes it seems to lack that "middle point" between a position and another. The same goes for "left-right".

It is even so or am I doing something wrong?

Best regards

Cristiano hi buddy you use the arrow keys while in edit mode they work for up and down left and right, hope this helps. :)

Hi Richard;

I'm using they, but I miss a "fine tuning" between one click and another of the arrows.

For example, if the position in relation to the HUGS is a bit low, when editing, the next position is a little high. I can not find a middle position.

Usually I'm clicking and clicking on the arrows, until I get the desired position. Very weird.

Good weekend and good flights.

Best regards

Hi Cristiano yes not quite a perfect science not much you can do about each press and how far it will move just have to pick the best you can live with buddy.

Happy flights

I had the same issue until I discovered this trick:

Set FSX simulation rate to 1/4 speed, then go to edit, press the arrow keys as usual, only this time, it'll move at 1/4 speed. push the edit button again as soon as you get to the best position. Even though it continues moving after you've pressed the edit button, it will save the point at which you pressed the button. To verify this, go to another camera, and back to one you were editing, and you'll see that the point you chose was saved.

Hope this helps
