May 19, 201214 yr Commercial Member I dont know, but im guessing it will be similar to the Hawaii DLC. I know the Alaska will be a LOT bigger land wise, but 99.9% of that land will be undetailed, in that most will be just generated. There are not a lot of detail area's in Alaska that the map crew would need to get into and fine tune (Think Ford Island). So cost wise, it may be about even! I would still not be suprised if it was not more expensive just due to the size of the add-on itself. Im really looking forward to see what aircraft will be released with it =) Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
May 19, 201214 yr I am as well, and they really, really need to release that before too long. I am still enjoying Flight , but based on the activity I have seen of late on the forums - namely here and on Steam, interest seems to be waning. Undoubtedly when the big Alaska DLC is released, activity will really pick up. I don't think the release of this last warbird, is going to quite stir up the activity by any large amount... Don B
May 19, 201214 yr It's got to be close to the Hawaii DLC price, or a bit higher, I would say. Figure $20 or $25. At $30, they would be getting close to "full game" prices and a lot of people would balk. They have to go with the pricing structure of popular games, not the pricing structure of add-on scenery in previous sims, since they're targeting the gamers rather than the simmers. But honestly, it may already be too late to retain the "gamer crowd". They should not have released Flight itself until they had more DLC ready to go. Alaska should have been available within two months of launch, to keep people interested.
May 19, 201214 yr But honestly, it may already be too late to retain the "gamer crowd". Hello The really need to retain the casual gamer, that is their only hope. The Flight simulation community would love to see the team take a change of direction and Flight! to become an FX11, but MS have decided there is no money there. Alaska and its aircraft DLC will be make or break Flight!. If Alaska does not achieve its sales targets the only throw of the dice left is to open the Sim to the 3PDevs Something they should have done from the start, lets hope that SDK is nearly ready to go
May 19, 201214 yr One thing I'm hoping is that any terrain offered is not a part of a plane included package. I have a couple of planes to fly in Alaska and if the plane offered is not something I want, I don't want the package to force me to buy it. It's great to think the plane of the month might be what I'd want to fly, but you never know with these MS people...

May 19, 201214 yr Here's one thing... We don't know if it is just Alaska as the Flight Community around the devs have gone silent. (Since well... 1-1 1/2 months ago) I does say Alaska as next DLC release but due to the silence, we cannot confirm. If Alaska is on its way, the devs should've already given us some sneak peak by showing screenshots or a video. (Like when Flight was in development) Back to topic, I think Alaska will cost around $30-45 USD. Alex Leung Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Glider & Private Pilot via Royal Canadian Air Cadets

I would strongly disagree with that! If they kept their marketing plan to using the DLC concept and gave diehard simmers a chance to purchase pieces that included weather, navigation, and sophisticated planes with cockpits, I would buy EVERY PIECE of it! THAT kind of marketing would appeal to a vast audience. That's my humble opinion for what it's worth. Stan
May 20, 201214 yr THAT kind of marketing would appeal to a vast audience. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False-consensus_effect In psychology, the false-consensus effect is a cognitive bias whereby a person tends to overestimate how much other people agree with him or her. There is a tendency for people to assume that their own opinions, beliefs, preferences, values and habits are 'normal' and that others also think the same way that they do. This cognitive bias tends to lead to the perception of a consensus that does not exist, a 'false consensus'. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I agree, the fact that so many add-on companies for FSX seem to be not only surviving some 6 years after release, but thriving, seems to suggest Microsoft could certainly make money in an FX11 direction given good management. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

MS just need to license or charge royalties to create for the software, keep it to a few Tier 1 outfits!
