May 28, 201214 yr As this thread contains Support questions for REX, along with the regular REX discussions, it will be locked so as to avoid confusion as to where REX support is available. Please take all your REX support questions to the Temporary Rex Support Forum located here: http://forum.avsim.net/forum/552-temporary-rex-support-forum/ Please direct all REX support questions there until they have been able to restore their own Forums. All support topics started in the FSX Forums and elsewhere will be relocated there by AVSIM staff. We wish REX every success in getting their own site restored and back to business as normal. Kind regards,

May 29, 201214 yr Any idea when the standalone DVD will be available for purchase at European retail outlets, Tim ? Edit....ooopppss.... sorry just realised that the Rex forum is back up. Will go and ask there. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
May 29, 201214 yr Christoper, was it the USB drive you purchased with all REX products? Sorry, Tim, but you have baffled me with that one. I checked out the REX2 forum before Christmas, and realised that there was a sale on. I had been thinking about purchasing it, and the sale price was too good to resist. However, I am not sure what happened next. Would the purchase link on the REX2 forum have taken me to the FlightSim Store site, or are there multiple options? May 29, 201214 yr I downloaded the full installation from my FlightSim Store account (the link for REX Essential had replaced my old download link), It took about an hour to download from the Singapore sever at an average of 1.4 mbs. I manually deactived the embedded startup call in my FSX configuration for the old REX FSX + Overdrive, and the ran the Essentials installation app after zipping all to a temporary folder. The installation went smoothly, as did the initial setup/configuration and server logon account stuff. In short, I am very impressed.... that is, once I learned how to tune the tune the refresh balance control so that I was getting enough time for the CPU to do all of the texture loading. This is the most realistic and immersive weather engine I have seen yet. I am looking forward to exploring all of the other options and features of this product. The basic set of textures already include HD (2048 and 4096) textures (but I only use the 1024 due my texture loading limits on my GTX285) and it looks great, especially the sky and lighting transitions; it works very well withmy combined ENB Series and SHADE shader tweaks. I look forward to downloading the 9.9 GB of Overdrive Texture adjunct when the become available. Thanks for a job well done, it is one heck of nice free upgrade. Todd Rauppius
May 29, 201214 yr Commercial Member WOW Todd, that is wonderful to hear sir! Thank you for chiming in, AND for your kind words. Christoper, I believe the only sale we had going on at the time was a REX USB Hard Drive with ALL versions of REX included. At any rate, please PM me and I will take care of you, or simply come to our forums, since they are back up and running, and we'll move on from there. May 29, 201214 yr Visually it looks amazing. But I have some questions about the software: 1. Where can I load an FSX flight plan (or enter my route) to get weather data for my route and plan acordingly? 2. Where do I find upper level temperatures? Jim Shield Cybersecurity Specialist

May 30, 201214 yr Waiting the final quarter hour for my download. Tomorrow I'm uninstalling OD, then Rex 2.0. Will install Rex Ess and report back up when complete. I wanted to put it on the laptop as I run ASE from there but have my doubts. Will it be OK to run over the LAN as I currently do with the ASE weather engine? I have not seen any popping clouds as described above using ASE with REX OD clouds, only lights on the ground behind the clouds that flash. Is that what y'all are talking about?
May 30, 201214 yr Got my simconnect issue worked out and I must say I am impressed. I am not qualified to talk about the finer details of weather generation i.e. winds aloft, icing, turbulence etc at this time, but I can say it is as real as it gets. I am very pleased with what I am seeing at this time. What I would like to be able to do is apply weather to my current position that might be in progress somewhere else. Not sure if this can be done. Bob Officially retired

July 19, 201213 yr Tim, is there any info when the upgrade for OD users is aimed for? It was said shortly after Ess. came out... been only waiting for this, since I want all-in-one product. (not impatient or anything, just wondering)
