Alaska released. What's next?

Featured Replies

I did notice right away that the meshes in the southeast didn't seem very detailed, but I could live with it. Farther along the southern coast things got better. Then past Dutch Harbor there were problems with stairstepping meshes, as if someone at the data source tried to interpolate a higher resolution incorrectly, and the devs mentioned on the beta forum that they tried filtering it and it didn't help.

Some places have great mesh detail, others not so much. I suspect that if more detailed mesh data existed, Microsoft would be using it.

What comes next? Let me see - a rather isolated area of a reasonable size surrounded by water. That makes me think of regions like Tasmania, Iceland, Sardegna and Corsica, The Falklands (or Las Malvinas :Peace: ) or Sri Lanka ....

I'm with the "beef up AK" camp..I love flying in the wilderness; it's why I fly ORBX Au so much...I am loving AK and think that, if they could just release polished DLC that adds scenery; missions and region specific AC then I'm a happy camper..Like Micheal above, enjoying FLIGHT for what it is, not what I wished it was..

Please finish AK before starting new areas! Feel free to add (cockpitted) planes as soon as you like!

BTW... When will Iberia for MS FLIGHT get released, including the Azores and Madeira islands for Portugal, and the Canary islands as well as Tenerife for Spain, be released???

I am waiting here

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

As far as I remember ,from the pictures posted in a portfolio of a designer who worked on flight, next DLC will be Africa .

Yep, I'm fine too with Alaska and Hawaii. As a mater of fact I find myself going back 1 in every 3 flights to Hawaii because I really like that place and the scenery is gorgeous!!!!

I have flown in Alaska, and went for rides in Hawaii, and both look pretty darn close in Flight. I am happy with what i see for now.

I'm thinking the next area will be a total surprise to all of us. Nothing as simple or straight forward as PWN, New Zealand, UK, etc. Could be Japan, or Africa as mentioned once above.

But, like most of the posts, the smart move would be to spend some time completing Alaska and making the most of an already beautiful location.

I think the MS theme of totally splitting the sheets with FSX and appealing to the lowest common denominator will continue where they get the most bang for the buck and to hell with 'full-featured' flight simming - it is just to expensive for the developer and we as a group are totally impossible to please. Heck, we don't even agree with ourselves, except many of us seem to like cockpits.

I think so too. It seems they want to do regions spread around the world, seperated from each other. So PNW would REALLY surprise me. Since they are focusing on GA and VFR I also think about a more remote area, somewhere in Africa maybe... Or somewhere in the far east... Flight as it is now isn't really ideal for creating places like the UK, where you have way too many cities. I don't know if I would like a huge Flight scenery with mainly cities...

As I said elsewhere, I would love to see Norway in Flight.

I think Norway would be an excellent choice. It would fit the missions and bush like a glove plus let the world know about another gorgeous place to fly. And it is small enough that MS could adapt some of their existing stuff.

Actually, all of Scandinavia would be a perfect location to have a few adjoining DLCs. They are all fairly small in area but very large in beauty and very different for neighbors.

I'm hoping a deluxe plane with an ADF will come out soon so we can use all those NDB's in Alaska.

If we really have to have a totally left of centre DLC...

Search for Porter does PNG on Youtube and tell me you wouldn't like to be coming into some of those pig-strewn fields :)

Never been there, but did fly over once at 24,000.' Didn't see much!

From what I have seen and read, though, it seems like another good pick.
