I was doing my walk around on a UPS 757 and we all looked like 5 year olds in the ramp looking at it as it was landing . lufthansa its now the operator flying in to KIaH and as far as i know from a good friend from rockwell collins who is going to traing some guys here in KIAH on how to work on the 787 should be coming in on the 17 of august just so that you know...

Cool. I'll contact HAS to ask them if that's true.

IMHO I still think it sucks that the LR is going to be the base and not the 200 ER.

Most of the airlines and peoples favourite routes are from the 777-200ER, PMDG are going to have make so many fictional liveries to cater.. 'As real as it gets right?'

You make it sound like it will be difficult to draw a 200ER livery on a 200LR. They are exactly the same apart from raked wings, wingspan, and different engine variants.

Well looks like the manuals will be released today as on their website it say "Within Hours". Maybe an update with it? I just hope we're not left reading these manuals for 8 months.. I'll only be getting the Quick Reference :-)

My first flight will be EGBB-OMDB in the Emirates livery, Ofcorse i will do a fair few test/learning flights before my maiden flight though!

Really can't wait for this release now!

First flight:

Delivery procedural circuits at KPAE, then fuel her up and fly her home to EIDW. Aer Lingus Livery, [if the repainters would be so kind], if not available, then I suppose Boeing house or PMDG house livery until the repaint kit comes out.

Do you personally think that Aer Lingus should have 777s? Would you be interested in flying them under your airline's name?

A couple of months ago I would have thought the idea mad, but in the past couple of months we've been getting an average load factor of 98.2% on our transatlantic operations, which for those of you who don't know the industry is insanely high. That's so high you're practically turning people down at that stage. So the added capacity might be something nice, though I do think that we're better off focusing on frequency over capacity, so more A332's and A333's are probably the best option for us, and when our A350-900's arrive in 2 years time, they'll probably be the right size for some of our operations.

However, that being said, we are desperately short of long haul aircraft at the minute and there are big expansion plans on the drawing boards at the minute. If we could get the aircraft, expect to see us up ORD to twice daily, JFK to 3 times daily, BOS to 18 weekly, MCO back up to 3 weekly, as well as launching new routes to SFO, IAD and YYZ. (You didn't hear that from me  ). Thing is we just don't have the aircraft, we're taking one A330 back from that UAL codeshare thing to MAD. Should have been terminated ages ago, but did us well for the first while. Think there was quote the controversy about it stateside. So to answer your questions, maybe we should, we certainly need LH aircraft, and the capacity would be alright for us in the -200 model. But the costs of having a Boeing aircraft in our fleet would have me say that we'd want to be very sure before making a move and buying a T7 over say A333's or A350's.

Urm, while I'd always love to have a new learning curve, and fly a REALLY big airliner, I think having it in FS from PMDG will do for me.

I love my Airbus, best flight deck our there, no comparison, and wouldn't trade my sidestick and tray table for the world. I'm just looking forward to the A350 and it's HUD and Class III EFB. I sure would like though to have the taxicam from the T7, that'd save me a lot of head aches, sim training and meetings with the CP.... :Rolling Eyes:

Interesting. The LR is actually cheaper than the A350-900 and the A350-1000. What is MAD?

Cool, thanks for sharing.

Maybe cheaper to buy, but the A350 is far more efficient. It has an extra 20 years worth of technology in it, operating costs are supposed to be in the region of 22% lower, and with fuel being the largest cost for TA ops, it'll pay itself back in efficiency nicely over the years we have them...

Sorry, MAD is code for Madrid, we sort kinda (it's complicated) operated an Aircraft on behalf of UAL going from IAD to MAD for about 3 years now, but that's been called off and we're taking our aircraft back now for our own use. Was good at the time because our TA ops were a real drain on our resources when the recession first hit, but now they're just throwing cash at us.... Caused a bit of controversy stateside with UAL's unions as a route that should of been UAL mainline operated, and not contracted out was being operated by another airline, hiring staff at a cheaper rate. We didn't approve much of it either, but when it first started it did get us out of a bit of a pickle...

Yup, they sure are. Being honest, and without trying to start the A vs. B debate, I love my airbus, side stick is far better, and I get a table to eat off, no more balancing hot soup on my lap. I've flown both Boeing and Airbus, and find the Airbus Flight deck to be more roomy, airy and bright, which is much more helpful when trying to fight off fatigue after a minimum rest lay-over, or a repositioning flight after you diverted and were only given the legal minimum before you had to get going again. Boeing are good at what they do, and clearly lots of pilots like them, but I'm an Airbus guy. Clearly both companies are great at what they do, the backlog of orders shows that, and if push comes to shove, I'll fly what-ever I'm paid to.

I think it's time to get rid of "If it's not Boeing, I'm not going" and bring in "If it's not Airbus.... I'll kick up a fuss???"
