August 21, 201213 yr How is performance with 1.4? One of the main things that is holding me back is performance. - If I am not going to see a 15-30% performance increase, I don't think I'll move quite yet.

I'm so pleased right now with FSX's performance. Word Not Allowed's tweaks really resurrected this sim. Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
August 21, 201213 yr BimmerCop, I don't know if you can upgrade from Academic to Pro - I upgraded from Monthly to Academic with no issues. From what "me" understands, the Pro Series is more for developers and persons / companies that are going to use P3d for Flight Training etc. I was with FSX since it came out. After thousands of dollars in hardware, software, tweaks out the rear end, it ran quite well. I flew basically in the Orbx/FTX regions as the scenery was so much better than the default FSX, along with GEX and UTX. I thought I would try P3d on a montly basis - which lasted two months. For "ME" the 9.95 I paid for one month was the best money I've spent to flight sim. Right after install, the default scenery was so much better than my souped up FSX, frame rates were about the same, which are pretty good. NO tweaking to the config file. After two months of use, I decided to go with the Academic version. Fellows, I personally won't go back. I've been able to port my PMDG 737, JS4100, Pilatus, well, all of my planes and Nemeth Choppers , the Century Citation, All of my Orbx Sceneries and REX. Granted, some transition with the opening menu, but that's minimal as to the flying portion. And finally, I know LM will be around and at least we have a company that's continually making P3D better. No, I am NOT hyping Prepar3D - in absolute honesty, I am just a happy simmer. Have a blessed one. cthiggin Tom Higginbotham Intel 4820K - OC'd 4.8 ghz / ASUS x79 Deluxe Premium MB, 16 gig Corsair Dominator ram, CorsairRM1000 PSU, Corsair H-105 Liquid, EVGA 770 Classified, 37" Samsung TV/Monitor, Samsung 840 EVO SSD 1TB, WD VRaptor, 1TB

August 21, 201213 yr If I am not going to see a 15-30% performance increase How do you judge that number? I lock my frames at 30FPS and they stay there. I just took off PMDG MD 11, RexE Textures, ASE weather engine, Aerosoft PANC, My traffic and FSX was never as smooth as P3D1.4. Absolutly no stutters and absolutly no tweaks. All setting at med to high. No bathymetry. 4.5 LOD. Framerates, Scenery complexity Extremely dense locked at 30 and they do not change one bit with the MD11. FSX, with all Kostas tweaks would never do that and I thought FSX was good. No tearing either, full screen or windowed! Ihavnt looked at the dfg file and at this performance I never will! I'm TRASHING FSX. i7 2600K @4.5ghz, GTX 580, 8gb 1600 Gskill ram.
August 21, 201213 yr RWFeldman, Aren't we all just so crazy for a high fps number??? Hi quality video is 29.94 fps - If one gets a solid 30 fps, regardless of where you fly, that's just the epitomy of being happy. There are times I can get 95 fps at 30,000 with no clouds, outside spot view.......wow - but "me" can't tell the difference between a solid 30 and 95 - both are smooth and video quality is superb. We have let ourselves become so subjective and take out focus off of the real deal of flying. ALL said IMHO. With your rig at 4.5, you should be one happy camper. I'll do this tomorrow. ;-) Nite fellas. Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
August 21, 201213 yr All of REX-E works fine. You have to purchase a P3D key for 4.99. The place you purchase it is in the REX-E console, either under the Configuration Tab / or / Options Tab. No pitch from this guy. I could get in 1 month what it took 5 years to get with FSX. Just a happy simmer. cthiggin Tom Higginbotham Intel 4820K - OC'd 4.8 ghz / ASUS x79 Deluxe Premium MB, 16 gig Corsair Dominator ram, CorsairRM1000 PSU, Corsair H-105 Liquid, EVGA 770 Classified, 37" Samsung TV/Monitor, Samsung 840 EVO SSD 1TB, WD VRaptor, 1TB
August 21, 201213 yr Check out the new Mooney Acclaims included with 1.4, they're by Lionheart Creations and there's a new Iris Texan. Both are included with the update for free :) My Freeware Sceneries
August 21, 201213 yr Author so far P3D 1.4 performs better out of the box than fsx, i have still not tweaked but i know that little part of me will be forced to tweak the cfg :) -Paul-
August 21, 201213 yr but i know that little part of me will be forced to tweak the cfg :) Oh just wait till I get my fingers in this
August 21, 201213 yr It looks like Lionheart's Aerospool Dynamic (fixed and retractable) may have been included too. I bought them, but haven't reinstalled, so I'm assuming they were included by Lockheed-Martin. My Freeware Sceneries
August 21, 201213 yr Commercial Member TrackIR refuses to work with this version...still trying to get it to work. Doesn't handle to old fixes like 1.3 did. Also with ORBX now getting a dll warning upon loading Prepar3d. Kelvin
