August 21, 201213 yr There's no way to preselect an aircraft and departure airport... P3D loads twice for every flight - I can't believe they removed the select screen :( On the other hand, after a few hours of flight, i can say with no doubts that this is a very good "FSX", performing better out of the box and with nicer autogen and graphics. Now, is it *really* different from FSX? Nah, not yet. Also withORBX now getting a dll warning upon loading Prepar3d. Kelvin I purchased 1.4 so i don't know if it asked about the DLLs previously, but if i agree to load ORBX DLLs on startup, P3D simply crashes. August 21, 201213 yr Author I have trackir working with no issues, Have a look at this thread as i followed the instructions in side it ( also i used resource hacker to edit the language.dll file ) http://forum.avsim.net/topic/378037-trackir-in-prepar3d-working-like-back-in-the-old-days-teeny-tiny-tweak-that-makes-the-difference/ With the Orbx dll's, they are going to be looking in to it to fix the error -Paul-
August 21, 201213 yr Author It looks like Lionheart's Aerospool Dynamic (fixed and retractable) may have been included too. I bought them, but haven't reinstalled, so I'm assuming they were included by Lockheed-Martin. Lionheart created the Mooney Acclaim for P3D so you will be good to install the Aerospool -Paul-
August 21, 201213 yr It's already there and I haven't installed it in 1.4. I knew they were including the Mooney he did for them. I didn't expect to see the Dynamic installed too. Maybe the installer found it on my hard drive, or maybe I didn't delete everything I was supposed to and it showed up from the 1.3 installation. I was just surprised to see it there and working. August 21, 201213 yr Commercial Member hmm gandy you make me curious with your findings. I just found a spelling mistake in my language dll file.
August 21, 201213 yr Author Dont fix the spelling mistakes you find as you will break things, the spelling errors, LM are aware of them but they cant remove them as it would break backwards compatibility, this is a legacy thing from the original esp code, fsx has the same spelling mistakes. -Paul-
August 21, 201213 yr Hmmmm, veeeery interesting! I'm all over it now. Hi Word Not Allowed as I recall you were also experiencing microstutter issues in 1.3 that were apparently introduced by accident. Would you be able to let us know if you still get them in 1.4? It was supposed to have been fixed from what I read and there is something about it in the release notes. I encountered these stutters too and it prevented me from making the move from FSX in full.
August 21, 201213 yr I have done some benchmark testing for Prepar3d 1.4. Before uninstalling 1.3 I did a short low level flight with a PMDG 737 from London City to Heathrow, using Horizon's VFR scenery with treescapes, Aerosoft London X, Heathrow X. I recorded the flight with FSRecorder played it back in 1.3 and recorded with FRAPS, then installed 1.4, resotred the config files so the settings are identical, then played back the flight again in 1.4. I've uploaded the result in a side-by-side video to you tube. Note that this is meant to stress test P3D so there will be blurries and stutters. http://youtu.be/z9tTJE-NTwk I will be doing a bit more work on this later as I discovered a few problems. Sound source is incorrect, REX textures weren't installed yet in 1.4. But I don't think it will matter a lot in frame rates. My initial impressions are that 1.4 performs marginally better than 1.3, by 1 or 2 frames. I also see an improvement in smoothness.

I did the line #2 fix but trackIr5 is not working for me .. no "blue" LED when P3D starts up. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
August 21, 201213 yr How do you judge that number? I lock my frames at 30FPS and they stay there. I just took off PMDG MD 11, RexE Textures, ASE weather engine, Aerosoft PANC, My traffic and FSX was never as smooth as P3D1.4. Absolutly no stutters and absolutly no tweaks. All setting at med to high. No bathymetry. 4.5 LOD. Framerates, Scenery complexity Extremely dense locked at 30 and they do not change one bit with the MD11. FSX, with all Kostas tweaks would never do that and I thought FSX was good. No tearing either, full screen or windowed! Ihavnt looked at the dfg file and at this performance I never will! I'm TRASHING FSX. i7 2600K @4.5ghz, GTX 580, 8gb 1600 Gskill ram. Rendi Hi Rendi, What happens with the 30 fps if you fly or taxi in "heavy" airport scenery or in bad weather like in the FSX weather presets: 'Gray and Rainy', 'Major Thunderstorm' or 'Stormy Weather' (or the equivalents in P3D). With my hardware (Word Not Allowed tuned) my normal fluent and steady 30 fps can drop to 18-24 in those conditions. Until a P3D version can do this considerably better, i stay with my good old tuned FSX. So what does P3D 1.4 do with your fps in those conditions? With kind regards, Bart S.
August 21, 201213 yr There's no way to preselect an aircraft and departure airport... P3D loads twice for every flight - I can't believe they removed the select screen Only twice? After the first load, if you want change tha airport... second load, if you want change time... third load, if you want change weather... and so on. I asked more than one time for this feature, please post you too in the LM forum. Maybe more people requiring this improvement can convince LM to include it, sooner or later, in the next release. Just left KATL, P3d set to Stormy weather, REXe, My Traffic at 50% (Lots a Delta Aircraft). PMDG MD11. It bounced off 30 FPS down to 25 a couple times..
