August 26, 201213 yr And it helps! Don't ask me for how long I wrote Quantas. Until an hour ago or so.

August 26, 201213 yr Author Queensland And Northern Teritory Aerial Service. Q.A.N.T.A.Sie. Qantas Yup, the old airline was formed by Hudson Fysh in the little town of Longreach, west (waaay west) of where i live. A shrewd businessman, jumped at the chance of a government mail contract when one of the many (and larger) competitors declined government money and control, and the rest is history. Was a full government owned entity an the only Australian airline allowed to serve international destinations, to the point where if QF needed to move aircraft inside Australian airspace, they had to be repositioned empty as they were not allowed to carry domestic passengers. The lunacy ended in the 1990s but left the Australian aviation market wearing nappies in the face of far "shrewder" competition. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
August 26, 201213 yr Ah yes, the Longreach 744's, being replaced by the A380's now aren't they, and they're being named after historic Australian pilots right? Rónán O Cadhain.
August 26, 201213 yr Perfectly happy to because you were feeling leery about and refrained from debating the merits of USAF vs USN with me back then. And I am always happy to do so as L.Adamson will attest. I can begin by saying that "Pitch is for Speed." The ball is in your court. Yes..... I'd have to look up all those volums of arguments, to both sides of this debate. In the end, you'll know no more, than what you did, before you started reading. I side with the pitch for altitude...........myself (except backside of power curve for landing). That's because my plane didn't use a wimpy gutless engine.........like they did so often, when "Stick & Rudder" was written.
August 26, 201213 yr I'm starting to get a real sense of Dejavu here, wonder why...  Rónán O Cadhain.
August 26, 201213 yr Ah yes, the Longreach 744's, being replaced by the A380's now aren't they, and they're being named after historic Australian pilots right? If I'm not mistaken Qantas recently pushed back some of their A380 deliveries as well for financial reasons. The plane talking blog: http://blogs.crikey.com.au/planetalking/ has quite a lot of coverage on Qantas. The coverage on technical issues is quite in depth and accurate, the Qantas coverage is strongly slanted against the current management. I'm not sure whether that's bias or an accurate appraisal of the situation though. John-Alan Pascoe
August 27, 201213 yr Also the "pprune" forums are quite persuasive too.. In which regard? Rónán O Cadhain.
August 27, 201213 yr The coverage on technical issues is quite in depth and accurate, the Qantas coverage is strongly slanted against the current management. I'm not sure whether that's bias or an accurate appraisal of the situation though. Here's the other slant, from an editorial: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/opinion/fair-work-victory-for-qantas/story-e6frg71x-1226447071664 The truth is no doubt in the middle. Mike Dryden
August 27, 201213 yr What is not posted in that TWU statement is that this was more so fore baggage handlers and ground operations... You know what the QANTAS pilots done in protest against the airline?? They wore different colour ties... And Jetstar employee's when they weren't happy what did they do?? They stopped collecting monies for excess baggage and what not... Grounding the fleet was nothing more than a knee jerk reaction from a CEO with his heart set on ruining an a Australian icon in favour of profit margins.. And @ fencer if your trolling for arguments and reactions please do so in your own thread or pm me, Its become quite clear you have no actual input into this debate.. Cheers Josh Cliff
