Slow start up time in "fly Now" screen

Featured Replies

I've been experiencing since I installed FSX\Gold in this computer,slow Loading times when the little box,should beggin to load with the bar...

" Loading Scenery" The bar doesn't run for a while...Like 10-15 seconds,then the "Click sound sounds and the bar beggins to run; As if something was preventing it to run,

I normally wait til the plane has turned,past three quarters ( Of a clock) to press the Fly Now buttom...Then I hear the click and the bar beggins to run inmediately. Now I can let it pass past the 3 quaters, it won't sound the click...And it takes these 35 seconds, All loads normally after this.

MY MSE doesn't report anything?

Takes 5 minutes or more for mine to load (unless I delete ORBIX scenery).

Frustrating as hell, but I can't afford the time for a reinstall. I'm not sure, but I think the more scenery you have (including AI traffic) the longer the load times.

Cheers

Disablepreload=1 under the Main section of the fsx.cfg will help you get to the main screen of fsx a little quicker

When the loading bar freezes that is the point where its checking all your addon scenery so the more you have the longer it will take, its always best to disable unused scenery if you are not flying in that area, Im flying around NZ South so i have all my photo scenery disabled as i dont have any for that area.

I do not have that line under my [Main] section of my FSX.cfg file which was kindly editted by Paul J some time ago when my old computer was still working.

I just started again FSX and just before/while Loading Terrain Data shows it took 41 seconds to saound the tick and start loading? The bar doesn't freeze at all, as a matter of fact it runs smoothly all theway.i have local scenery installed only,which in the past hasn't given me any delays at all?

Simply add it.

Get a SSD.

If the config edit doesn't work, an SSD will. It solved the long loading problem for my setup, and I got my SSD as an Amazon.com Gold Deal for 60% off a couple of months ago. Well worth the cost of entry.

Pitch + Power = Performance

Did you allow it to install to the default Microsoft Games address? That can slow it down. Mine, for example, is at F:\FSX. I also use SSDs to speed things up.

SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats

SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals

SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc

Get a SSD.? What is this, unfortunately for me I don't possess of a lot of funds.It was workinng perfectly the day before yesterday, loading times were fine,i was begginin to be proud of my used purchase,in comparisson with my old machine which did lack memory for running FSX that one was 1-8 179 GHz1022MB.

If you got very high scenery/AI settings and/or loading your A/C to an add-on airport or a major hub, such as KSEA (probably longest loading times of whole FSX), EGLL, EHAM, EDDL, and so on, this is normal FSX behavior. For me, it sometimes takes more than 5 minutes to load, though none of the sliders maxed out.

May I suggest you to try and start a flight at SCIP, and report back if it loads any faster, or not? (That airport is on an island in the Southern Pacific, and it's the most remote place in FSX, so there's very little scenery and AI to load).

Flo: Thanks for your reply; I started FSX at Mataverdi Int. SCIP (Ester Islands) And it loaded preatty fast. My default is set for may local airport EKCH; which is one of the HIgh Detailed airports in FSX, But, it has never give me this problem ( Loading Time) in the past...?

I just changed (reduced) one of the sliders and it helped,both in settings at the opening screeen and in game; Had to adjust the zoom,though, because it put the airport way far ahead.It still gives me a pause when loading at 6%...For about 40 secs.

Yeah, loading times are very scenery and setting dependant. Vanilla FSX loads in less than 20sec on my slower laptop. On my main system with lots of addons, my load time is 1:30 or so depending on where I decide to fly.

So you can simply disable unused scenery by unchecking the scenery in the scenery library? That would be great since I have an obscene amount of secnery, and at times it has taken clost to ten minutes to load a flight.

yep thats what i do, when i have everything installed it can be a couple of hundred gig of photo scenery on a slow drive plus all the others i have as well as the freeware stuff. I hate it slow loading.

I plan to raid two 256gig ssd's together for my sim drive, that should give me enough room until 512gig or 1tb ssd drives become affordable :)
